I have rescued and fostered a feral kitten that bit my finger really bad (my finger was dripping blood), 2 days after she's been at our house, she became so much more comfortable and ended up in a really cute family with two boys, and their mother was the most excited one about her adoption. She was so funny when she was comfortable enough to play with my cats toys. I wonder how she's doing with her family... 😊 (sorry for grammar mistakes, I'm still learning)

I know this from socializing six feral kittens I caught with my own two hands. Scruffing works when they won't stop hissing. It makes them think you are their new mother.

I worked in a rescue, and cared for quite a few spicy kittens. A little patience and gentleness and most of them come around eventually. That moment when they realize that they can trust you, is pure gold.

I had some experience with 3 feral kittens. I found the best way was to let them come to me on their own terms. We had them in a room by themselves with lots of places to hide/feel secure and all I did was just sit in one corner and wait, ignoring them completely. Eventually their natural cat curiosity of this big new thing in their environment got the better of them and they slowly started to investigate. They were very timid and shy but I still remained still and ignored them. Eventually one of them jumped up on my leg/lap sniffed around, looked up at me and meowed. I offered him my hand and the other two went back to hiding but this one stood his ground and sniffed my hand. I ran the back of my hand along his side, not near his neck or head and it was like a light went off in his head of "wow, this feels good. I guess humans are alright." It wasn't long before all three where climbing on me and demanding to be petted. Years later my parents still have those cats on the farm and now you can't get rid of them. Funny to think the first time I saw them was as 3 pairs of scared little eyes looking back at me from under a shelf.

lol kittens are actually harder to socialize than most other animals. no joke if you ever have the opportunity try and pet newborn kittens little buggers will straight up hiss and spit at you. now those 9f you who are upset with this video, take it from someone who actually worked in animal rehab, she is doing everything right. they need to be socialized and the general approach she is taking, all be it very direct, is great, but only because they are too small to really do anything. now socializing a full grown feral cat is VERY hard and I some cases just not possible. I have brought home a few barn kittens from where I used to work, and two feral kittens and they are hard at first, even bloody harder to catch lol, but in the end worth it. barn kittens though are by far my favorite.
It can be done, but it takes a lot of time - it depends on the personality of the feral cat as well. Had experience with 2 around here - one eventually tamed and is a house cat now. The other was still spitting and taking swipes at me when I'd walk by after feeding her for over a year. Did manage to get them all trapped and fixed, thank God. What an experience.
Allen Jacques food is often a winner, even with some adult cats. When I was volunteering there were two cats that were very nervous, hissy, spitty and would scratch. I started offering pieces of chicken and whilst doing so spoke gently to them and stroked them. It didn't take long for them to start to relax with me to where I was one of the only ones who could touch them without being scratched. They were still very nervous, but better than they were. With kittens, of course it depends on the age. Kittens as young as these three won't take as long as kittens about 5 or 6 or so months old. However with all cats and kittens, the more intense and consistent the socialisation, the less time it can take. I know of people who have taken in feral cats and kittens and because they've not spent much socialisation time with them, some have remained feral. I almost got into an argument with someone on a video because they were telling me that you basically shouldn't intrude on a cat's space.
Allen Jacques even kittens can take a good chunk out of you if they are pushed far enough. Luckily the two feral fosters I had were more flight than fight. So there was a lot of shaking and hiding (and pee) but very little hissing and spitting. Both were rehabilitated. One..because he's crazy high energy...stays with me and the other shyer one was adopted to a family where she is queen. They will never 100 percent be like other cats that were indoors from birth but they are smart, interesting and wonderful companions just the same. Haven't attempted adults or older kittens yet....I have 2 cats in my home though these days and getting a quiet space in a 1 bedroom is difficult in those circumstances
The feral's I have tamed I was able to get them calm down with in a few hours. I get a small blanket may receiving type or even a regular pillow case and put it slowly over them. You do this one at a time. I then pick them up very slowly in the blanket and pull them up to my heart so they can hear the beating of my heart and hold them there calmly for however long they want to be there. This has always worked and they have always calm down and even let me pet them and purr and even fell asleep. I rescued a kitten about the same age as these little ones at Costco last year. We got him into the tire center and the works closed all the doors and I was able to calm him enough to get him into a soft Walmart bag. That's all we had to use but as soon as I brought him up to my heart so he could hear my heart beating he calmed down and fell asleep. We got him home and he was already attached to me and is a healthy wonderful sassy almost 1 year old boy. He purrs every time I touch him.That started happening that first day I got him. He's awesome. I've done this with about 10 feral kittens and it works really well. You are awesome taming these little sweeties.
We've had some of these little guys on our patio. I found that some cold cut ham or turkey changes their attitude quickly. Maybe a saucer of milk too. 😋
Once I had 3 kittens like this, I cuddled them a lot. Their head is so sweet. they hissed and growled which was very cute i couldn't stop it untill her mom appeared.😅

For some reason the mother cat carried her babies to my garage.. ( there was a colony of wild cats across the street. I had been going over there to feed them little pieces of bread.. and spent hours just sitting in one spot, throwing them food so I could at least see them... I was 10yrs old..lol. The one I kept was the coolest cat I have ever had. She chased big dogs out of our yard and even my father couldn’t help but appreciate her.. I could go on all day about how neet she was...she never lost her “ wildness “.

There was this guy on TH-cam, who worked construction. He found feral kittens all the time. He would bring them home, and put on his work gloves. He would hold them, and they would bite and scratch his gloves. quite quickly, the kittens would get used to being handled. Then he would hold them to his chest. He thought, maybe it was his body heat, or his heart beat, but the cats would adapt to him quickly. Holding them to his chest, they would soon start puring. He said, "It looks bad, but I got to get them used to people, because I'll a new batch in a week or two."

The feral's I have tamed I was able to get them calm down with in a few hours. I get a small blanket may receiving type or even a regular pillow case and put it slowly over them. You do this one at a time. I then pick them up very slowly in the blanket and pull them up to my heart so they can hear the beating of my heart and hold them there calmly for however long they want to be there. This has always worked and they have always calm down and even let me pet them and purr and even fell asleep. I rescued a kitten about the same age as these little ones at Costco last year. We got him into the tire center and the works closed all the doors and I was able to calm him enough to get him into a soft Walmart bag. That's all we had to use but as soon as I brought him up to my heart so he could hear my heart beating he calmed down and fell asleep.
We got him home and he was already attached to me and is a healthy wonderful sassy almost 1 year old boy. He purrs every time I touch him.That started happening that first day I got him. He's awesome. I've done this with about 10 feral kittens and it works really well.

We've had some of these little guys on our patio. I found that some cold cut ham or turkey changes their attitude quickly. Maybe a saucer of milk too. 😋

Once I had 3 kittens like this, I cuddled them a lot. Their head is so sweet. they hissed and growled which was very cute i couldn't stop it untill her mom appeared.😅

Ive rescued many many feral kittens and domesticated them. I think the best part is when you begin to pet a kitten and suddenly he or she blinks those eyes and all of sudden says, hmm, this feels kinda good.

For some reason the mother cat carried her babies to my garage.. ( there was a colony of wild cats across the street. I had been going over there to feed them little pieces of bread.. and spent hours just sitting in one spot, throwing them food so I could at least see them... I was 10yrs old..lol. The one I kept was the coolest cat I have ever had. She chased big dogs out of our yard and even my father couldn’t help but appreciate her.. I could go on all day about how neet she was...she never lost her “ wildness “.

There was this guy on TH-cam, who worked construction. He found feral kittens all the time. He would bring them home, and put on his work gloves. He would hold them, and they would bite and scratch his gloves. quite quickly, the kittens would get used to being handled. Then he would hold them to his chest. He thought, maybe it was his body heat, or his heart beat, but the cats would adapt to him quickly. Holding them to his chest, they would soon start puring. He said, "It looks bad, but I got to get them used to people, because I'll a new batch in a week or two."

I bless him for that. This video is not about people and the human condition. I'm not really sure why you are injecting comments about the drug issue in America into a video about animals. The people that you mention rotting in the streets are not homeless, they are drug users. They are there because they've destroyed their lives using drugs. Take a look under the bridge in Houston, TX. They do drugs on the sidewalk while I sit at the red light in my car and then ask 'what are you looking at?'. Only they can fix their drug problem. How am I suppose to?

Those kittens are actually terrified of that woman, which explains their actions. To a kitten, humans look like giant animals. You have to be especially patient with a feral kitten before that kitten will feel comfortable in your presence.
