Don't let these comments get you down. I know its an overused phrase - but its true: "haters will hate". Unfortunately, the advent of social media has allowed a subset of people to say mean/nasty things because they are (or they think they are) anonymous. As far as being married to someone with a disability, my late wife had a work related back injury that resulted in her being declared disabled by the Social Security Administration. In addition, she had End Stage Renal Failure for the last 5 years of her life. With all the struggles that these two illnesses caused for both us, I never once considered myself to be "tied down". I made a vow to love, honor, and cherish her in sickness and in health until death did us part and that is what I did. The fact of the matter is for most couples as they become elderly, one will end up taking care of the other due to any number of issues (including mobility) that creep up later in life. Congrats on your engagement and may you and Tommy have a long fulfilled life together. It may not be "normal" (whatever that is) but it will be y'alls life and the two of you will face the challenges of life together.
