Seven-seat SUVs aren't usually prime candidates for Tarmac-tearing power, but try telling Skoda that. The Czech carmaker has recently revised its Kodiaq family SUV, and as part of the facelift, the hot vRS performance version has ditched its diesel engine in favour of petrol power. The 2.0-litre turbo unit delivers 245 horsepower to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic gearbox, making the car capable of 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds. The question is, does it feel as exciting as it sounds?

Ive ordered the executive trim level 1.5 dsg auto with the ambient lighting comes in 24 weeks . Im currently driving a ford focus st line x trim 2019 and will miss it but having 4 kids now means family car 😂☹️
It seems expensive until you compare van based 7/8 seaters which can cost £20K more
Skoda stopped being the ugly duckling of Europe since 1996, when it was integrated into the Vag Group, today it is an excellent brand that delivers quality, safety and reliability, congratulations to Skoda and the Czechs

@@klaus6578 only the technology is german, but it is built in the Czech Republic.
Wish it had the VAG 3 litre V6, so it was more like a 'poor' person's Cayenne, rather than a 'poor' overweight sibling to a Macan 2 litre. That said; while it's expensive -- what isn't at the moment? -- I think it seems like a worthy option. I do, however, agree that having to pay extra for the likes of adaptive cruise and a heated screen is very mean, but it's what VAG, and sadly, an increasing number of makers are doing. For far too many makers, adaptive cruise is only available as an option on the top model. IMO, it should be standard on all cars.

CarGurus UK : if you wanted to make any kind of meaningful lap times around the Nurburgring, the Skoda Kodiaq RS would need a 4.0 V8 Twin Turbo engine from the Audi RS6 591 HP :). Sorry mate, but the 2.0 Inline4 Turbo with only 200 HP just doesn't cut it at all since it weighs 1880-1923 kg which is almost 2 TONES for an engine with lower power than it has in the Golf GTI :).

@@bobo_zg7816 200 HP vs 245 HP is hardly making any noticable difference in a 2 TON SUV using only 2 litre engine. In terms of efficiency, this is a tiny engine in a heavy cow of a car....both in terms of weight and difficulty of gathering of the kinetic energy.
@@lflyr6287 i can't agree with you. I think that 45 KS make a big diffrence...Also you can find on TH-cam video where the new kodiak vrs have from 0 to 100kmh 6.1 sec and thats realy good because od the weight wich is almost 2 tones

@@bobo_zg7816 45 HP out of a puny 2 litre 4 cylinder engine in a car weighing 2 tones has almost no difference. It's not even felt....one must measure the super little difference that it produces copared to the 200 HP version.
If they can be bothered to make one of these then why are they forgetting the little Fabia? Could use the Polo GTI setup.

I'm guessing Skoda views this as it's Halo product, so sales matter less than getting someone into the showroom to show off lower spec variants' other family friendly qualities.

See here's the thing, as a driver of a standard SUV, a diesel engined Renault Kadjar I don't understand the point behind a performance SUV.... If u want to go fast get a hot hatch or fast estate which with a lower centre of gravity will handle much better. As well as that it'll be a nightmare to keep in petrol as a derv VRS is no longer an option though if you can afford to buy it.... plus those plastic buts on the alloys look horrible which I know is for aerodynamics but if that's the case just put steels and wheel trims on it! The engine isn't new it's just the one from a Golf.
technically barely anyone really needs it, but some people like to go fast no matter if they're in a compact car, sedan, station wagon, SUV or pickup, so brands will natuarlly offer a sporty version as well. One aspect where a sporty version might make some sense are emergency vehicles. SUVs can carry a lot more than a station wagon, so it's perfect for many different purposes in Fire / EMS / Police service
I like everything that's fast and changing the 2.0l TDI for the 2.0 TSI was a great move. But I struggle to see the poin of fast SUV's. Fast SUV's are nothing more than a big middle finger for everything starting with the environment.
one aspect where fast SUV make sense are emergency services like FIre / EMS / Police. When driving an emergency vehicle the last thing the driver will care about is the environment, those vehicles aren't driven in an environmental friendly manner at all. A SUV is able to carry a lot more equipment than a station wagon, so it's a prefered choice for many different tasks in the emergency services
Who in there right minds would buy this over an Octavia or Superb 🤷♂️
