Obviously, Leclerc is not the driver he was when he debuted with Ferrari, he was already incredible, but he´s becoming a total beast in my opinion, growing every year more and more, like Max did. If Ferrari gets it right, Leclerc will deliver for sure. I really hope Max wins this year, because i have a lot of doubts about Red Bull´s performance in the future, and the fact that we have the top teams already with those youngsters, i fear that he might get stuck in an uncompetitive place for years like Alonso, when he returned to Renault ,and later on, when he rejoined Mclaren, those really were wasted years. • @paulallen8109
      @paulallen8109 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marielou1982 Well, *not* if all the top teams already have their seats taken. Suppose Ferrari has a really good car next year and Carlos Sainz wins 2-3 races, and Ferrari immediately extends his contract for another two years? That means Ferrari will have both seats full until 2024. If George Russell is really good and matches Hamilton then obviously Mercedes will keep both of them until Hamilton's contract with Mercedes ends at the end of 2023. And here's the kicker. No top team will ever sign just a one-year contract.
So imagine this: Red Bull has a bad 2022 and Verstappen wants to join "any" team for 2023. There will be a spot available at Mercedes and Ferrari for 2024 so Verstappen just wants a single year with Alpine/Aston Martin. They in turn *refuse* to sign him just for a single year. So will he then decide to stay at Red Bull for another year to get the "best drive" ? But by that point Leclerc may already be a two-time Ferrari champion and the "top driver" in F1.
Not even Schumacher could have any seat and join any team. He negotiated for a drive with McLaren for 1999 and 2000. His condition for him to sign the contract was to be guaranteed "number 1 driver status". Ron Dennis refused this and told him he'd have to race Hakkinen and not until either of them got in a distinct lead would one have to support the other as a "number 1 driver".
Senna even offered to drive for Williams for free in 1993. Unfortunately their engine supplier Renault insisted on signing Alain Prost... And Senna did *not* want to relive their 1988-1989 McLaren days as team mates...
Senna's contract stipulation for 1994 was "no Prost". So Alain retired.
Alonso had the "Hamilton-situation" at McLaren in 2007.
Hamilton had the "Nico Rosberg-situation" at Mercedes in 2016.
Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet at Williams in 1986-1987 = no love lost between them
So one day Max might join a team which already has a young, top driver there who is hellbent on beating him...
You can never take titles and places at teams for granted in F1. Not even as a top driver.

IMO order for future gen is
    1)Max
    2)Gasly/Russel
    3)LeClerc/Sainz
    4)Norris/Albon
Personally, i think Max has advantage of experience and rbr is all in on him. In terms of driving itself, Gasly and Russel have shown a lot of caliber, LeClerc would be higher if not for his "extra pushes" that push him too far out of contention, Sainz is just a personal favourite who adapts amazingly well, Norris is a lil overrated and Albon is a lil underrated, I think both of Norris and Albon are on the same level.

I can. Virtually every single year. You see, nothing really changes. I have been watching F1 since I was six years old. Over the years I have noticed one common denominator over all the seasons: Lots of young drivers look really good and are ascribed a "great future" in F1, but out of ten promising talents from a particular age bracket only five end up winning races, and only two are ever champions.
For every Schumacher there is a Alesi, Panis and Nannini.
For every Alonso there is a Trulli, Fisichella and Kubica.
Jolyon Palmer was a great talent in F2/GP2 and won an easy F2 title. Much good that did him in F1. Stoffel Vandoorne utterly dominated his F2 title and won 7 races. Surely this would lead to good things in F1? Nope.
Hate to inform you of this but out of the late-90's born drivers, Verstappen, Leclerc, Russell, Norris, Stroll, Mick Schumacher, Mazepin, Ilott (Ferrari test driver and vice-F2 champion), only half will ever win a race and only two will ever be champion.
