Thank you as always. You have a gift for explaining processes in a clear and concise manner. Sorry I'm late today, had a charity function and then some chores to get completed before the sunset. Have a great week ~ Chuck
I LOVE Your site! I am working on 4 model A's at present and rebuilding myself a 1931 Truck! Your info is GREATLY appreciated! I have because of You improved my work quite a bit! I hope to meet you one day very soon! My Friends like Family Mike is just about to manufacture more High Speed Rear End Gears for the Double AA and TT Trucks!
Paul - Do you ever sleep? You never disappoint and provide great insight and educational info to keep the Model A running. I always look forward to the next video.
Ha! Rarely. Supposedly it is linked to my form of autism. But when I do finally sleep, I can sleep for like 8-9 hours straight!! Most of the time I get like 3-4 hours of REM sleep per night. Then, my brain is wide awake again! My body can't keep up with my brain most of the time.
Great video Paul! I'm excited to get a Zenith carburetor someday. I especially like how you put a card on the video showing us where to get these parts. Excellent!
Always learn something new each Sat, thanks as usual. My 28 still has its original Holley carb, and I’m looking forward to getting it tuned up this winter.
Wonderful explanation on the float and the adjustment. It's so good to have sources like you Paul to go to for a common sense demonstration of how these things work. Love what your doing, keep them coming, thanks a lot! Hope your weekend is going great!
I used to get the same thing when I changed cam sensor on modem fuel injector system. They came with a plastic tool for setting to # 1 cylinder. I through it away. I put thousands of distributors in and know where # 1. Is.You don’t have to put the engine at TDC. When pull the cam sensor drive out, the distributor shaft will turn 37 on a Ford Vulcan 3.0 L. Just visually look where it was pointing when you started. The car has adaptive strategy built in the computer. If you really needed to know for sure, you could back probe the connector install a pico scope and dial it in perfect. Point is if it was right when you took it out it’ll be right when you put it back 37° turn and it’s pointing at what you saw when you took it out. When you know you know.
How nice and simple. Not like rebuilding computer-controlled carburetors of the 1980s with many special tools and adjustments that no one but factory-trained technicians did correctly. I always felt sorry for the customers who paid good money and their cars still did not run right due to untrained mechanics working on their cars. Thanks for the video, Paul, and Happy Thanksgiving, Mike
Don't even have a model a yet I'm looking. But when I do find one I'm going to know a lot more because of your channel. How about a video on online buying the do's and do not's? Thanks for your videos.
I strongly caution people about buying a Model A that way. I did mention it in the video. Always buy a Model A in person, or at the very least, have a person you know go see the car in person- like I did for this guy- th-cam.com/video/2tU6X_tGTvg/w-d-xo.html
Hi Paul: Thank you again for another great video and tip. Could you make a video on how to properly ground taillights when after adding a new harness your LED tailights will not work (only one tiny bulb lights up out of the many LED's.
Thanks for your great videos, your so helpfull. I understand that the float needs to be as equal as the carb base but if your going to error is it ok to error on the "less gas in the bowl" way? In my understanding, less gas in the bowl, less chance the car will stall on hard braking witch mine does that so Im always playing with the throtle arm to keep the reves up when slowing down so it wont stall. I hope you understand my question. Keep up the exelent work mr Paul.
I am also curious about this. I have 2 rebuilt zenith carbs that stall out on abrubt stops. also the bottom towards the center rear is always drenched with gas an hour or 2 after parking it. Both have new float needles so I know that works.
Paul. Congratulations on the directorship. I am finally going to try and sell my LOVED Mustang and look for a Model A. What year would you most likely look for? I like them original patina but well done interior and sound mechanical, if I can. We have the Borderland A's here and I will join, and have talked to these guys often , at events. Mike Fifer , Las Cruces New Mexico
Hi Mike. There's a Model A club in Las Cruces and on their website, we have a FOR SALE area. Check out www.BorderlandAs.org. I live in Las Cruces too - you might have seen my 1931 Tudor Sedan running around town with BETSY on the front license plate. Look me up! RIck Black
Go for it! Have you been in touch with Rick Black yet? He lives in the same town as you and is a friend of mine. Rick knows a LOT about Model As and has the heart of a teacher. What is best for you depends a lot on your size. If you're tall, or have some girth, avoid the 28/29 roadsters and roaster pickups!! Tina did a whole video on Model A interior dimensions and shows what works and doesn't work depending on your size.
Hey Paul! Have you ever done a video on rebuilding a 6v positive ground generator? Been looking for a good video because I've been struggling to get mine working again. Thanks for the videos!

What a coincidence! That's exactly what I'm learning about right now. I'm doing my 1st carburetor (spare). Still need to order a kit,but it's great practice. Fortunately, I've learned most things about carbs from the master(Mr Shinn) Should I use any special paint for the exterior? Thanks, guys .
Hey Dean! Thank you for the kind words. I'm still learning, just like everyone. I use fuel-proof epoxy paint from the model airplane store. I recently heard they stopped selling it on my area. Check in your area.
Greetings from the Smoky Mountain Model A's! Great susinct & thorough video. I counted at least 4 Marvel Schebler's on the bench. Are you a fan of them? Renners Corner is #1 for them. Good to check the float is level when viewed from the front as well as the side too. Congratulations on MAFCA also
@@ModelABum Yea, I have a pile of them. I am not a fan of them. Just putting some together from all the junque to take to the Turlock swap meet in January.
A Paul Shinn and Squatch 253 video in the same morning? Today will be a good day.
I learn a lot from every video of yours I watch. Thanks! I found that float level tool at Mike's A-Fordable Model A parts.
Very cool!
