Very lovely yardadori Jelle! I think the twin trunk was deffinetly a great way to grow this one out. The slight difference in trunk thickness is just right for it. Excellent work! Look forward to seeing this tree progress.
Great little video and I like the way you are going with it. I had to laugh about potting angle. I have done the same thing twice because of doing videos. Cheers.
Aww man, To bad you couldn't hear me, I was yelling... stand her up! when you started to twist that new trunk wire. this one will be a beauty when it gets older.
Hey Jelle, I was wondering if you would consider doing more "top 5" videos? Like you did the "5 underappreciated species for bonsai" it would be interesting to see like, top 5 pines for bonsai or top 5 species for beginners, or your favourite maple variants, or top 5 rules of thumb for Bonsai, perhaps you could talk about the best Bonsai nurseries in Europe, like the best online stores, top 5 rookie mistakes, etc. Just floating some examples, I appreciate the content regardless.
Hi Markus, interesting concept. I have been thinking about it, but I noticed my first top-5 video was not picked up as well as some more specific videos. In the end.. Do people care about my top fives?
@@GrowingBonsai We care about all the other stuff you have to say so why not! Very possible that I'm the only one who appreciate a simple top5 video. But if I see a video like "How to prune your taxus" I'm less likely to watch it, than if you did a top 5 and taxus happened to be one of the species you recommend. Because from my perspective taxus isn't even on my radar, but it could be if I was told why it's a good species. Obviously I'm going to look into it now, but it was mostly just to give an example. General macro level bonsai videos go well with your specific videos IMO!
Any advice for a Longleaf Pine, which may have up to 10 flushes in a year? It is a tree common from my part of the world, so it has special meaning for me.
You are such a nice guy. You planted the tree at the wrong angle on purpose to help us feel better about ourselves when we have moments like this, didn't you?😉😉 We call this a "Brain Fart". I'm interested to see how this one grows out. I wasn't expecting you to keep the trunk that long.
styling long lanky trees well is much harder than what one might initially think. Literati is truly an art form.

😁 frustrating at times. So much paying attention to not get between camera and tree that you loose focus on the tree
Nice nice nice!im sure you will have success.
I’m just about to repot a big
Scott’s I got from a garden centre into its first bonsai pot.🎉
Good luck! hope this goes well for you!
Good luck with it Jelle hope it grows well for you mate.
Fingers crossed! I have faith it will!
What was the soil substrate used here?
Thank you, Jelle!
If I recall correctly, this was pure pumice!

hahaha, thx for trying to help me!

I must say, I do not remember ever having seen a Pinus palustris. So, that would be a "No advice from my side" situation :)
👍👌👌🙂
Hi Jelle, do you sharpen your tools and if so, would you consider creating a video? My root scissors have become rather dull!
-Gert
Hi Gert,
It just happens that over the weekend I started to tape how I clean and sharpen my toolkit!
@@GrowingBonsai 💪🎇🙏 - looking forward to it!
Ahem. This tree is ready to be repotted according to what you said at the end of it (friendly gentle nudge).
yeah.. but no. I am not happy with the growth last year. I will leave it in the pot for another year. SOrry.
@@GrowingBonsai No worries. Looking forward to the next video no matter what it is about.
@@stevetippin tomorrow. Leaf size and bonsai!

Hahahaha, yes, I like your story. Lets stick with that!
I wonder how it will look in five years.
Why pure bims?
Me too! I have the feeling bims is drier than other conponents, and have heard good things about using it pure!
