- Repair, restoration and assembly of the high roof for my Volkswagen T2 from 1977.
The roof is an "Sheldon" model.
A good upgrade to live in my van!

Ciao, complimenti per il lavoro, mi appresto anche io a restaurare il tetto in vetroresina che è mal ridotto, è stato ridipinto malamente. Non posso fra l'altro tirarlo giù dal mezzo. Mi piacerebbe capire che step si devono seguire per riportarlo al nuovo. Mi pare di capire che:
1) hai scartavetrato per bene tutta la superficie (che granulometria della carta hai seguito?);
2) hai trattato le crepe della vetroresina con fresa per impedirne l'avanzamento e risolvere;
3) hai stuccato con stucco per vetroresina le irregolarità e le parti trattate;
4) scartavetrato di nuovo.
5) hai dato del fondo con pistola e compressore? (che fondo hai usato?filler 3300 max Meyer?)
6) Hai verniciato il tutto (che vernice hai usato?)
7) hai dato trasparente o gelcoat 3c poi?
Dal video non capisco bene prodotti e step....come vedi ho capito in modo confusionario.
Mi potresti spiegare come hai fatto? Grazie 1000
1. carteggiato con carta 120 (il mio tetto era messo parecchio male quindi era necessario carteggiare pesantemente).
2. trattato le crepe con fresa
3. stuccato con stucco vetroresina
4. scartavetrtato di nuovo
5. filler 3300 maxmeyer (stucco a spruzzo) per coprire bene anche le più piccole screpolature generali
6. scartavetrato
7. fondo acrilico
8. scartavetrato
9. 2 mani abbondanti di vernice acrilica industriale (lucido diretto)
10. gelcoat solo nella parte interna del tetto
very good job Enrico! I have a question for you :) my high roof on my VW T2 is the one coming from T3 Joker style from Westfalia (high in the back and gets lower in the front with a round glass in the middle) and looks great. In the parts the polyester roof is connecting with the body of the car there is a lot of rust on the metal and is getting worst (i think because most of rain stay around) I mean this part on the T2 that is all around extra metal but not in the front.. I am not ready for a roof repair or even paint the full car, can you suggest anything at least to keep the rust from expanding? Hope you can answer , thank you!

How did you fasten it down to the body of the VW??? Clips or something????
I fixed it with L-shaped brackets, bolted to the bodywork front and rear, and then I sealed the entire perimeter with a strong silicone
