I love this headset. This doesn't really need an amp, but I do pair it with a soundblaster X3 and it works very well. It's a great setup for use with the PS5 as you can control the X3 with the mobile app
There is absolutely no way that a 3.5mm jack will introduce compression... it's an analog cable. A USB cable like you recommend that is converting analog to digital and back to analog will 100% introduce compression.
3.5mm is like the most compressed next to Bluetooth, idk if you’ve ever connected something to an amp with an aux, and then with an hdmi as aux, or usb as aux, but there is totally a major difference in quality. 3.5mm is noticeably more compressed on this headset than non 3.5mm headsets. I deal with tower speakers everyday and test cabling and 3.5mm simply makes it worse.
@@NoisyPixelNews this is physically impossible, an analog signal is going to give you a pure raw signal w/o compression. Poor quality DACs are what introduce noise and compression.
doesnt sound as good through the basic sound card in your motherboard. I just picked up the GSX300 from EPOS themselves so I could review the unit. Sounds great to me, although if you get a better amp, the sound will be less compressed
I think Mr. Pixel is comparing 3.5mm input off the mobo Line Out vs the GSX300 dac. Of course the GSX having the better dac and amp will sound better. But blaming the 3.5mm is just wrong. Its analog and only transmit signals. Garbage in garbage out. It's not the input, its your output. I've never heard of an audiophile prefer a USB plug over a 3.5 or 6.5. And besides, your headphone would need a built in dac which will make it heavier. Perhaps the correct thing to say would be that this product would only perform at full potential when paired with an external dac and amp. If the above confuses any non audio nerds, just get this and pair it with a Schiit Hel or higher. Oh and there's a good chance that the open back sounds better (if it suits your use case).
@Noisy Pixel I have the H6Pro Open Acoustic and can tell you that your review is way off. A 3.5mm (analog) connection can no way produce compression as the headset has no signal processing whatsoever, there is no amp. The EPOS Gaming software can only affect the usage of the DAC that you are using, and honestly what you are using is very underpowered for these headsets. Get the GSX1000 or GSX1200 DAC, the Sound BlasterX G6 will definitely change your perspective. A higher quality DAC/Amp is need to properly review these headset series. Again, there is no compression on analog headsets, you can compression from DAC/Amp that you are using. I would say along with others, this review is very flawed.
Well I’m not paying for an amp that expensive especially when not provided by the brand. So the gsx 300 is where I’m at just so I can use the software and make a review. Yes, epos suite only effects the dac amp so no confusion there. Clearly we have to talk about compression because I am running thru a pre amp. I’ll say it again, and I’ve been told this before, but I’ve never used equipment where using straight 3.5mm is higher fidelity than another connection. I understand the nerdy audio science you are speaking about referring to converting waves and signals, but I have yet to hear something on 3.5 that blew me away with sound when compared to another connections. Maybe it’s the architecture of the wire itself, maybe it’s the genre of audio we are reviewing such as gaming audio, and not mixing or production level audio. Audio is too complex for the average viewer so I get you, but I also think it’s not that flawed of a review because Im capable of hearing differences in audio tone. Forgive me summarized audio science in the review but I’d love to see your review of the headset :) i still think 3.5mm is worse hahahaa
Don’t know if anyone would see this but am having trouble with the headset the two wires that it comes with don’t work for me when connecting the single connect I can hear audio but can’t speak and the second is no better I can only hear from one side and can’t talk can anyone help me?
You have to manually close it out on task manager as it opens on startup kinda buggy. So after you close it out, you should be able to Open it up, I’d also Recommend taking it off of startup boot
@@NoisyPixelNews i own the h6 pro and I use the sound blaster g6 and I promise you I get a lot more magic. H6 pro gets an A plus from me bc you can use them for every thing and they do an amazing job. i also own the HD560s and the dt 900 pro x

Very classy headset. No flashing rainbow RBGs or other bells and whistles - just great sound and mic quality. It’s reserved and confident.
I didn’t know 3.5 mm carried compressed data. 😂

Also comes down to the DAC, but in almost all cases I have yet to hear 3.5mm win the compression war

@@NoisyPixelNews how did it sound without a Dac and if you recommend a dac which one and how do they sound for FPS games such as hearing foot steps ?

Do you recommend this headset for next gen console gaming?
I would say this is better for pc gaming honestly or music
Any good for the Xbox series X?

How’s the sidetone with this headset???

Good review, but again, I prefer black peripherals xd
b plus? you dont need to buy the epos dac amp i didnt.
you don't, but you do if you want the quality out of this gem. I like the headset a lot for sure. I'm down to answer questions

Don't mean to flex, but I've got a Roccat Juke pre-amp.
Really stylish boom.
Great review! One of the better ones on the h6pro
Glad you think so!
