Criminally underrated channel for G3/PTR owners and the only long term project I've seen breaking down all the aspects, subbed! I've binged all these videos and it's interesting you've more or less done to your rifle what I did to mine. So a few things: 1. The Spuhr stock is not necessary, but the reason you perceive it as better is because, yes, it is more in-line. With every other stock including the Magpul adapter, the barrel line is just above the top of the stock, thus you will perceive the vertical recoil as more exaggerated, not the overall recoil as more forceful etc. It's very similar to the AK in some ways, but with a smaller cartridge its less exaggerated and more manageable. 2. As far as I know there are 4 military buffers and 2 commercial buffers offered. The military are the stock, improved stock, MSG-90/PSG-1, and HK21. The commercial ones are one that used to be sold years ago by HKParts and Bill Springfield's custom buffer. There's also a Choate buffer for a folding stock, but its just a thick rubber plug. The stock and improved stock are friction buffers whereas the MSG/PSG and HK21 are two stage spring buffers (I think).
@@jeffreyoldham55 Thank you for the compliment. It’s motivating. I’m trying to give concise, clear, impartial, and useful information as best I can. I’m tired of guntubes and the clickbait titles, misleading thumbnails, drama filled videos from grown men, begging for shares and subs, and rambling on about sponsors. It’s as if content is just being created just for the sake of creating content, not for helping folks. So I decided to make this channel. Might be boring, slow, and less dramatic, but that’s me. Once again, thanks for commenting and watching. 🫡
@RTarms Thank you! Your videos are helping me to make an informed purchase. I despise my money and PTR makes a damn nice clone rifle. I have a shopping cart full of upgrades on HKParts just waiting. Enhanced buffer, B&T handguards, enhanced trigger, etc.
@@F32_Rocket glad the vids are helping. The rifle is (or was) rather inexpensive, but modernizing it can get costly. Too costly to throw money away on accessories you won’t use…like I did. Optics are going to be my next video. I’ve got tons of info but this TH-cam stuff is hard work. Especially the editing. Thanks for discussing and watching!
@@RTarms You're doing a very good job. I would rather watch a genuine, honest review from someone still learning rather than a highly polished video that's biased
I saw century was including a retractible with stock with one of the options. I thought to myself, “if that’s an HK German retractible, thats worth more than the gun included!” Still, even if its turkish, nice to see some more options!
I also think the metal retractable stock (the 2 position one) is fine for shooting. Almost always, I find it more comfortable than the fixed plastic stock...maybe because the buffers are slightly different? Also it might be my imagination, but it seems like the slightly heavier weight of the metal retractable stock seems to bring a bit more of the balance back to the rear, which is helpful.
@@danielgreen6547 i agree with the weight shift. They both are (practically) the same LOP, but the retractable one is more comfortable for my build than the stock plastic one. My buffer in the retractable stock doesnt even have a piston, so you’d think it would be you to death but it feels fine. Kraut space magic strikes again.
I have fired smoke grenades from a AK4 (Swedish made clone), and let me tell you...that recoil is out of this world. If you fire that from the shoulder, it WILL send you to that world! 😄🤘
Have not used the Spuhr* style stock. Not talking bad about them.. just seems like a less polished (tho expensive) version of doing an end plate adapter and Magpul stock. I’ve owned the A3.. working on getting another. While heavy and not the most comfortable.. goddamn is it sexy.
The spuhr is nice, but yes essentially you can do the same with magpul stuff for way less. Just a different look. I’m like you. I have so many spare parts, I just need another ptr 91!
I watched a report on the Ukraine war last week where a Ukrainian soldier was talking about the lack of resupply of batteries for his unit's optics and other devices. Maybe its not a bad idea to keep that old stock around , just incase you need to resort to iron sights.
100% correct. The battery powered devices are only as good as the logistics to get the batteries to the fighting front. Even if you get the batteries there, tons can go wrong. Batteries can bust open, moisture can get in the housing for the battery (don’t ask me how I know) , the caps might not be tightened down all the way (don’t ask me that either lol), etc. So you have a great point.

Thank you. Glad you have enjoyed the info.
Thanks for your explanation of these stocks & buffers. I learned a lot. 👊😎

They have turkey imports from the mke factory for the retractable stocks now... Not as pricey :)

About to get some of these items for my A3S and 32 thx for making the vid.
