Yes! I'm so glad you did the ranking. I hope everyone I follow does one. You are 100 percent right on Ninja Master. The more I talk about it the more I realize I didn't actually enjoy it, I just liked the idea of it. I was surprised to see Hawk so high in the list. Yessssss. You put Bumsider one step above a REH book. Bumsider. Nah, man. Ha!
@TheBookGraveyard I don't know what I'm more ashamed of; putting Bumsider over REH, or keeping Jirel out of my top 10. Either way, the ghosts of Weird Tales past are not happy with me.
My only disagreement is the REH cthulhu mythos tales, I really liked them and still re-read them regularly. But, hey, that's different tastes I guess... but lower in the ranking to Bumsider???? 🤔
Hey everyone look! Tim thinks Bumsider is better than Before They Are Hanged! Haha youre awesome Tim! This is why I love these lists. People are forced to make hot takes, and the true opinions come out.
Great vid. 56 books?! That’s an incredible accomplishment. I’m shooting for at least 30 for 2025. I also plan to write what I think of each one. Nothing fancy, just a few sentences. I already have 10 lined up (Dragonlance and the Riyria Chronicles). I didn’t know Hondo was based on a book :)
I appreciate you standing by your review of a book you didn't like. You have enough insight and experience in this field of literature so your take is reasoned and fair
I'm halfway through the ranking but I needed to leave a comment before I forgot. You gave me grief about LotR but DNF'd Book of the New Sun. (I won't even comment on your First Law shenanigans) We shall duel with pistols at dawn. 😂 Great video so far!
@JosephReadsBooks To clarify, I haven't DNF'd it yet. It'll just be a while before I try the next New Sun book. I accept your challenge, regardless. May the best man win!
@secretfirebooks7894 I am looking forward to your eventual reading of Claw of the Conciliator. It is batshit crazy. It might be my favorite in the series. Citadel of the Autarch has a wild ass ending though. So it might be my favorite.
My reading has been abysmal this year. I didn't even crack double digits. Hoping to average a book a week next year. Maybe alternate between fiction and non-fiction, we'll see... If you do a buddy read next year, I'm in.
I read The Blade Itself this year, and initially I liked it. As it went on, however, I found my interest waned to the point where I ended up skim reading the last chapter or so, and I won't be continuing with the series in the foreseeable. I also agree with your assessment of The Shadow of the Torturer. I'm sure I must be missing something, but I'm insufficiently curious as to what that something is to read it again. On a positive note, my book of the year was Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, absolutely outstanding.
Try Radigan or The Burning Hills by L'amour if he's not clicking for you. My two favourites of his. Otherwise seek out some Lauran Paine, John Legg, Lewis B Patten, Lee Floren or Nelson Nye I'd say. They have alot more gritty styled westerns. What I'd describe as Sword and Sorcery westerns, in tone that is. Or check out couple books you may find in my videos that take your interest. I always try show the synopsis of the books in my video if you fancy a western
Damn Abercrombie, Howard, Wolfe?..next on Secret Fire Books, I'll bash Twain, Poe and Shakespeare..😅.. I dig your honesty.. I do know what you mean about Abercrombie, he's kind of an acquired taste..
Don’t like Louis L’Amour? You are going to hell! Highly recommend Education of a Wandering Man. He is too 3 for me. But to each their own and God Bless

56 is good going, sir. I used to aim at a book a week when I was a younger man, more if they were thinner paperbacks... keep it up!

I don't read a lot of the same types of books you do, but I was here for a look at the vintage covers on most your reads. 😀
@@StormReads Haha! Understood. They certainly don't make covers like they used to.
