    I would be surprised a bit with Forest Green Rovers being built, especially after the Bradford City FC fire in the 80's where all wooden stands throughout the country had to be removed. But regulations change and it does look good if it is made.

    • @AmirBrooks
      @AmirBrooks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Things have definitely changed since the 80s. Today's wooden stadiums won't be built from old railway sleepers that have impregnated with flammable tar, for one. Also, they'll be more than one steward on duty, and the emergency exits won't be locked during the game.

      @@AmirBrooks And Bradford actually had fans, which won't be an issue for Forest Green Rovers.

    Small is not always bad! While the kind of "small stadium" I am about to talk about isn't necessarily as small as the ones in this video, I can see stadia and arenas in North America shrinking in size at some point. As construction costs rise, and the number of fans complaining about the experience at games becomes an issue, in 20 years the next wave of football stadia could wind up under 50,000 or even closer to 40,000. High ticket and food costs, boorish and drunken fans that ruin the event, and the quality of HDTV (and now 4KTV) making your living room as good or better a place to watch the game could convince cities and teams that they may not want to pony up for a Taj Mahal. For the fans that want the game experience, they may wind up with a better view and perhaps more comfortable seating in a smaller package. I wish I could have seen the Los Angeles Chargers playing in whatever they call the soccer stadium for the LA Galaxy (it's changed names so much, I can't keep up) because seeing an NFL game in a stadium with less than 30,000 fans would have been a unique experience. I went to an XFL game in Seattle where they only opened up the lower bowl and club level, and I liked being relatively close to the field; I could just imagine how that would have felt at the Chargers games in the Galaxy stadium.

    Wooden stadiums can also be dangerous and bad for the planet. I mean how many trees do they have to cut down to build them. They can be dangerous in the sense that if you go back to the Bradford stadium fire it was caused by the fact the stand was made of wood.

    • @gordon1545
      @gordon1545 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Structural timber is treated so that it is fire proof, it's nothing like the wooden stands of old. Also, you plant new forestry when you cut down the fully-grown trees, so it's a great way to lock up carbon. Concrete on the other hand is responsible for 8% of GHG emissions every year.

    Why do modern stadium architects do such a boring job of the designs of most new grounds? It’s so sad. Everton’s Bramley Moore stadium is a copy of several other stadiums. Espanyol’s being one that even has the same colour. Sad.
