  • Two spectacular performances on a heartbreaking song by Joesef. Grace's low (Karen Carpenter) register is simply stunning, and Joesef's androgynous chanteuse/low mix with violins/guitar is extraordinary.
    Thanks to the Grace Fanderwaal folks for this video.

    Thanks Dax, good reaction. Another excellent cover and the highlight in my opinion, goes to Grace's voice which seems to have undergone a small change, it is firmer, clearer and this type of vocal tonality fits very well with the deep way of interpretation that only to Grace has
    it's exactly because she has the facility to redesign and customize the music in her own way, congratulations and "success always"!!!

      Nicely said, Roberto. And you might be right about her voice undergoing a slight change. It has even more texture, I think. Thanks very much

    If Joesef and Grace were to do a duet together, surely the earth would move! Thanks, Dax, for giving Joesef so much love! I couldn't agree more! Nevertheless, Grace stole the show! That girl was sent here straight from heaven!

    Hey again Dax. Excellent reaction! -- Can't agree about Joesef's voice. It's not bad to me, but not great either. Grace's voice on the other hand, has, from the beginning, been special. I have never been able to explain it properly, but there's just something unique and captivating for me. Other people have unique voices, but none that are magical like Grace's.

    • @daxmusix

      We might disagree a bit about Joesef’s voice, Neil, but we agree completely about Grace‘s voice, my friend.
      It seems that Grace’s voice may be taking on an even richer mature texture. I’m not sure yet. I will have to hear much more new stuff, but it is positively mesmerizing in the first three seconds of listening.
      I suppose her voice has always been that way really, but it hit me pretty dramatically during this reaction.

    I've been listening to Angelina and Grace, and Grace has softer, slightly burnt caramel thing that as you say, takes me somewhere. Angie and Grace are the future, for me. I just hope Grace doesn't go down the tubes with drugs and alcohol (also a drug)

    dax, i made it a point to listen to the original before listening to grace’s cover and it is not even close. the essence of grace’s musical artistry is most purely distilled in her _sad songs;_ they are the one constant in the ever-evolving graceverse. this girl is amazing. peace

    • @daxmusix
      @daxmusix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s possible, Bobby, that I am so used to modern music being absolute crap that I had an overreaction to Joesef’s rendition.
      I did like it very much, but my point about the equality of expression concerned emotional expression, and certainly not voice, because there has never been anyone close to Grace in that arena. Thanks much

    • @BobbyU808
      @BobbyU808 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@daxmusix Dax, there are many who know more about music than I could ever hope to know. Some of them might even think that Joesef’s version is far superior to Grace’s and they would be absolutely right, for themselves. But for me, and I suspect for you as well, there is no musician who has stirred my soul or moved my emotions more deeply than this girl. Grace VanderWaal is the musical artist I had been searching for all of my life but never thought would find. Peace

    • @daxmusix
      @daxmusix  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BobbyU808 Yes indeed, Bobby, but I might word it just a little bit differently. Grace is the musical artist I did not KNOW I was looking for.
      She is like Beethoven bursting onto the classical music scene and saying, “here you go, my friends, this is how you put full emotion into instruments.”
      What still astounds me every single time I listen to Grace is the dimensional difference in emotional quality. She is so much more profound than all of my previous favorites that the mind still boggles.
      The fact that she did not burst onto the worldwide musical scene after AGT says something, I’m afraid, about the vapidity and vacuum of the current human condition.
      There should, right now, be gorgeous statues of her around the globe. Yep

    I was agreeing with you on Josef's voice at the beginning. But the repetitive nature of the video made me dizzy/nauseous towards the end. And the voice also didn't hold up throughout for me. Towards the end the voice added to the nausea that the video was creating. This was probably just a "me" thing. I doubt that anyone else experienced what I did. I have a double vision problem that contributed to my experience, no doubt.
    Grace's rendition was superior for me only because Josef's video went on too long for me. If Josef had cut it down to the minute and a half that Grace did, and ended before my dizzy/nauseous feeling began, I was really liking it.

    I was having a hard time trying to put the voice and person together...just didn't fit! May be a girl!! The harmony almost sounded like G.V. , their voices would be kinda amazing together. The look on your face, after backing up 15 seconds at the end, was priceless!!!!! Like "NO! IT CAN'T END LIKE THAT! I NEED MORE!!" and I totally agree😁

    I’m really disappointed Dax, you promoting the same stupid people who are telling her,( what a super cower, better than the original, She owned that song, and so on.) yes she can make any songs better than the original written by someone else. And what all those covers gonna make out of her? A cover artist? So, instead to say every fricken time, Oh that was a beautiful cover! They all should push her out into the light, and say OK, where are your originals? Tons and tons of songs she was writing, where are they? Or just going Bob Dillon way? Disappearing from the public eyes? And let other artist sing her songs, and just collecting the Royalties? Make one streaming about fans whom saying over and over the same stupid things about her craft, and you will see that I’m right. This girl was born to rock the hell out of the world, and not sitting on her butt and analyzing dumb things. Example! Billie Ellish. A newest Grammy winner. Who can’t even sing three songs in a row, or write a song without her brother help? And Grace? Making songs out of thin air? We were waiting and waiting, to someone who is rocking our world, and here she is, wasting her talent because no one say to her, ( hey girl it’s time to make a revolution in the music world ) which she is more than able to do so!!!

    Obviously like all singers, except Grace, his official studio version is better and to my ears it sounds more like the one Grace is covering. I wonder if she is aware there is a live version or even the one your showing. I've never seen this video. The Official video is more moving to me. My daughter who is a tad tough (John McClane's daughter would be afraid of her) saw this music video and said. Since I don't know the singer. "It's a guy" I said. She said Oh and thought for a bit and said. Ok he looks like he is on the ground bleeding, it's a guy singing to another guy that is why he made himself up in the video so you can't tell if it's a girl or guy. (androgynous) He told someone in a straight bar that he loves a guy and he got the crap kicked out of him and now he's laying on the ground outside the bar. Got a good laugh from her and said "I couldn't tell you what is going on there."
    I have to agree with you, the moment she starts singing this she does take you to a different place and you don't want to leave. The only reason I find Grace's better is that I don't want to leave after Grace's ends, with Joesef's I loved it (the official only) and just went about my day after it was over.
