    One of the best if not the BEST DCS F/A-18C channel available. Please keep providing your tutorials with the calming, easy voice of awareness and instruction. Were you an IP in Navy? Kingsville? Since you asked - My objective in DCS these days is airmanship (like my real flying of an airplane) Such as holding altitude like you just did on base to final, 1,200 feet. Mastery of systems comes next. I have about 80 hours in the Eclipse 500 simulator and I learned from all of the instructors that if I don't die at least once in a 1-2 hour sim session, I have not learned my limitations and the aircraft's limitations. Plus its capabilities.

      ANSWER: D…none of the above. Here’s me-> th-cam.com/video/wk87-L2F0VU/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks for the complement, we try and are always constantly learning and discovering what we don’t know yet. I’m recommending VNAO As a great group of enthusiasts who mix with professional aviators in DCS as a resource for flying like your style of training. Awesome work mate!

    Man, my presentation skills are way out of practice! I’m noticing how many times I say “Uh” in the video, sorry for that. Guys, please share what you are doing in DCS lately! ~JUICE

      Uh, I don't mind, I'm focused on the information, so don't sweat it, ;)

    Many thanks for this series Juice - no spoilers here, but this was a life saver. For those thinking of trying out the excellent Raven One campaign you need to go in fully prepared. Having run a solid mission, it turned out I needed a Case III recovery and I hadn't run that by the book before. Luckily I had watched this series a couple of days before, and Juice gave just the right amount of information to allow me to save my skin... and recover to complete the mission. Thanks Juice! Remember kids, don't try to fly the jet before you've flown it in the chair...

    Good to have a the manual info laid out into DCS like this, thanks. You probably get this a lot but if you are into flying and procedures you really should try VR the sense of scale/depth/direction adds realism in bounds.

      Someday when DCS gets optimized for VR and VR headsets get better resolution, I’ll consider it then. I currently love my Three Cougar MFDs and being able to push chicklets quickly!

    • @Mark_Point
      @Mark_Point 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AIRWARFAREGROUP Lots of people say that, but it's perfectly playable in VR now. Resolution is reduced a little, yes- but the gains go way beyond asthetics! Each to their own though. I use cougar mfds in VR. Plus custom button panel. Keyboard is not possible but then there's no keyboard in an f18 either.... 👍

    Great stuff here guys, thanks. Am I missing something, somewhere on the displays that tells me the reciprocal heading.....whether it be the runway heading, BRC, holding pattern, opposite track or any reciprocal. I know of the 200 - 20 rule but wondered if it was displayed in the A/C somewhere.

    • @theflyingfool
      @theflyingfool 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just “read” it off the HSI page by placing the original heading at the 6 o’clock position. No maths required ;o)

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like @Steve Roberts points out, the HSI will work. Before I became a private pilot, I made a cardboard compass rose with all the 10-Degree radials for flying simulator airplanes starting with my Commodore 64 Computer. After flying a few years in real aircraft, I pretty much memorized Reciprocal Headings like sixth grade times tables. TIP, using the Course Line in the HSI helps but you have to have the display set to a navigation reference such as TACAN station or INS Waypoint first in order to set the Course (CRS) function. Try it out and let us know if we can demonstrate it in another video.

      @@AIRWARFAREGROUP ....actually guys, I spent 4 hours tonight flying between carrier and islands on the new Marianas map reviewing @Steve Roberts suggestion and comparing it with the 200-20 rule. Even though I'm dyslexic I found the 200-20 rule so simple and actually faster than even considering the Course Line or any other visual aid. Carrier says BRC is 067° and I know the reciprocal is 247°, Tower says Runway 060, I know the reciprocal runway heading is 240 (about) in an instant, before even looking at the HSI. For newer 'naval aviators', this is a good TIP to know when they make their turn for the downwind leg, instead of trying to 'guess-timate' by looking at the HSI. I'm new to your channel but really appreciate your format, and TIPS ,like this could really help armchair pilots learn a trick or two along the way.

    • @RattlerSSBN
      @RattlerSSBN 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to follow up for those that don't know about the 200-20 rule of compass reciprocals, I thought I explain so you can try it out. Works great to figure out downwind run or anytime you want to plan for an opposite but parallel course.
      If the Carrier says 'BRC is 067°' (less than 180°) ADD 200, then SUBTRACT 20 (67+200-20=247°)
      If the Carrier says 'BRC is 311° (more than 180°) SUBTRACT 200, then ADD 20 (311-200+20=131°)
      Try it out; no heavy math involved....don't need a flight calculator or compass rose!

    Great tutorials! How do you transfer to the LSO station? Thanks!

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have the Super Carrier Module, You may enter the LSO station with keyboard command [LALT+F9]. I’m not sure if ED added an LSO Camera to the free carrier, but since getting SC, it’s the only carrier for me.

    Whats the best way to replay and watch your approaches? I find the track/replay feature very unreliable and corrupts the file a lot..thanks-

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point...I have been talking back and forth with BigNewy of ED and the Tracks seem to hold well within the same build update. Once a new version is released, the track file is usually corrupted for the new software version. His recommendation is to keep the tracks short, and if you're flying with a friend, have them send you their track file for the session with your approaches.
      Bankler's CASE I Recovery program is great, but I don't recommend it for training. It's a great evaluation tool when you already have the basics and know the parameters you are supposed to follow. That said, it's more of an evaluation tool than a learning program.
      Flying a set of 5 approaches and then resetting to a new jet seems to work around the track file corruption as each time you enter a new jet, it starts tracking you again until further corrupted. So, my recommendation is to fly a few approaches and then switch to a new aircraft and flew a few more, then switch to another new aircraft, and repeat the process. You can also just go back to spectators in Mulitplayer and then reenter the same jet as before.
      Recommend you run the mission like you were the host in MP mode.
      Hope this helps,
      JUICE
