    I appreciate how you casually said, I'm a continental knitter, and got straight to work. I crochet and have had the hardest time trying to find continental knitting tutorials so far.

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned to crochet when I was young so when I learned to knit as an adult continental was the most comfortable option for me. You should see some of the videos where I try to show stitches with right and left hand ... hilarious. All of my videos will have continental in them, right hand occasionally. Hmm, maybe I should add continental knitting to my tags?

      Garter tab is usually used to make sure that the selvedge is identical all the way across the top as opposed to having that little blank spot between the eyelet edging. I find that I don't mind the little space as much as I am annoyed by garter tabs LOL.

      Of course! I did a video on crescent shaped shawls where you can see several different types here: th-cam.com/video/zGLZaZ--690/w-d-xo.html
      And for a shawl that uses the construction that is shown in this tutorial you can check out Each to Each: th-cam.com/video/kdBH3leNcxQ/w-d-xo.html

    I'm wondering if I can work short rows (after about 6" of knitting from the cast on) to make the body of the shawl deeper. I prefer a deeper shawl with some width than one with lots of width and shallower...I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your response. You have a great sense of humour so keep smiling...it makes people wonder what you're up to!!! :)

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit

      I encourage you to experiment! Short rows can do some amazing things.

    Thank you so much. This is just what I wanted. I really like your friendly style too. I would just like to make one EBI (even better if): I’d find it really helpful if the yarn was bright red or some colour that is easier to see against the background. Thank you again.

      I am constantly trying to improve my videos and this one is almost four years old LOL! My main concern, from feedback from viewers with visual disabilities, is that there is high contrast between the needles and the yarn. It has taken some time to find the right balance and I'm still working on it. I do tend to use medium toned yarns in newer videos. But red is a problem for my camera LOL - it just doesn't like to film it.

    • @bumblinbeads2667
      @bumblinbeads2667 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t even notice how old it is. I really appreciate you thinking about VI people - thank you. I’m part way through the shawl and really appreciate the pattern. I tried a few options and your one was my favourite.

    great video, what is youaren't doing garter stitch, and do stockingnette or other textured pattern. Do you still start the same or do a garter tab?

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I almost never use a garter tab - I just don't like them.

    Hi Barbara I have try to make the same shawl. in the testing piece the edge by the neck is a little too tight. and there bubble below the k YO K. please tell me what have i done wrong. Changed to a larger needle same thing happen.

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nerissa Chan Hi! The top edge should be a little tight, that it what pulls it up into a curve. If it bothers you, on the Right Side Row you can begin with k1, YO and then on the WS row drop that extra YO before you slip the final stitch. That will put some extra wiggle room in the edge. As far as a bubble, I'm not sure what you mean. It is probably something that will block out.
