2:42 Every time he exits that corner you can hear the difference between no boost followed by the savage tire shredding acceleration when he gets into boost.
He's pretty much always in boost. The KKK turbos are not all that big so don't need a lot to spin up because they don't have that much inertia compared with other larger ones. More importantly, the M119 is not really a race engine in the normal sense of peaky power and high revs. The older C9 delivered its maximum power at 7000 but more importantly, the torque peaked at a paltry 3500 and maintained almost the same level up to 6000. The point being that the engine _always_ had good power available. It was just a matter of how far the driver was prepared to put his foot down. The wheelspin here is probably just a bit of exuberance. oi65.tinypic.com/35hnyah.jpg
God I love forced induction!!!! torque torque and more torque. Powerhouse of an engine! imagine the levels of grip that’s overcome by the power to leave those nice 11’s
For me this is the Best Sounding Engine / Race Engine ever . Also when the Throttle is being relaesed and the Bulbing Base V8 Sound falls away while Braking . Perfect ..
This is a phenomenal video Nick!! The C11 is beautiful, the engine is a work of art, the sound is intoxicating, and the flybys on the straights are badass!
It's the type of gear set they use for this race type gearbox. Possibly like dog cut gears that gets that whining sound either way still sounds awesome nonetheless
My Dad took me to Donington in 89 to see these race. The silver arrows dominated it and I ended up with a signed Jochen Mass poster. Was at Donington again for the Classic Car Event in 2013 and heard this beast again. Recognised it before I even saw it or new it was going to be there. Truly the best race car ever. Good vid mate. 👍🏻
wow what a beautiful throaty sound coming out of that mercs engine. and let us not forget the legendary driver of that car Mr. Michael Schumacher. Love u and your family hope your recovery is progressing at a speedy pace. Definitely a great loss to the driving world. To survive all those years with no major injuries just to be struck into a life changing coma on a ski slope. GET BETTER MICHAEL!!! YOU'RE THE GREATEST WHO EVER LIVED!!!
I saw this car at donington park as a 10 year old boy and never forgot that sound. I still watch videos of them now. In my opinion one of the greatest race cars ever made.
MRFUCKOFF202 it's just not a burnout.. A burnout is making your wheels spin on purpose from a standstill, the C11 just spins it's wheels due the high amount of power which isn't transferred to the ground so idgaf
Absolute Mechanical Brutality.-Wonderful thing! Hard to believe this was a turbo'd engine. Especially considering the competing Porsche 962 Turbo Flat six had such a subdued sound. Thanks for an amazing video!!
What a masterpiece of a race car.. and the sound from the Twin Turbocharged 5.0 V-8 is incredible. And the gearbox is nearly as loud as the engine. If you listen close, right before it crests the ridge, you can hear the up shifts with the simultaneous backfire. The video doesn’t do that sound justice. If you could be there to actually hear this, it sounds like a shotgun going off.
Impossibru I disagree, the Jaguar XJR9 with its glorious V12 and the Mazda 787b with its howling rotary engine, the Peugeot 905 with its gorgeous V10 all completely humiliate any of the modern cars.
Bobby Olmsted Schumacher was a "Mercedes Junior" together with Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Karl Wendlinger. Schumacher only competed at Le Mans once in 1991, but he set the fastest lap of the race. Schumacher's talent was instantly spotted at the first test of the youngsters at Jerez. While Frentzen set the fastest lap of the day, Schumacher went faster than the juniors mentor Jochen Mass and used less fuel while doing so. Remember, Group C was a fuel consumption formula. Build whatever engine you want, but this is how much fuel you can use in the race - 600 liters for the 1000km races.
tommy9927 thank you so much for sharing that with me, I really need to sit down and do my homework it's fascinating to learn something new and I appreciate you taking the time to educate me interesting stuff
My favorite motorsports car of ALL time. These cars used to pull 230+MPH on the old Mulsanne straight at LeMansMotor is based on the production M119 from the 5 Litre SL and S-class!!
+deggis4 yes I realize this is not the C9 car but let's face it, the differences are minimal, different front clip, minor body alterations and coil over plug ignition to name a few. It's still a M119 motor with massive kkk turbos bolted to it.
Tony Chavez The turbochargers were not that big. The Group C formula was a box rule/fuel consumption formula so a bigger turbo was not necessarily an advantage, especially on an engine that already had plenty of cubic capacity. Its Group C capacity equivalence was 8.454 litres with this set up. You could use bigger turbochargers and get a bigger capacity equivalence but it would be less useful and you'd use too much fuel.

Its a twinturbo chargered car so there is always boost in there the this char has 800nm of torque at 3500 rpm
I love the 11's he leaves at that point.
God I love forced induction!!!! torque torque and more torque. Powerhouse of an engine!
imagine the levels of grip that’s overcome by the power to leave those nice 11’s
@sw4gr1d The amount of turbos absolutely affects lag. Twin turbos generally are smaller than single turbo setups. Small turbos spool up faster.
2:42 he left marks on the track brutal acceleration jesus
The sound is so violent, especially in low revs.
Both in low and high revs 🤩
And to say they're going to replace all of these brutal V8 noised with EV racing Formula E crap such a shame.
It's literally snarling like a lion when they rev it in the garage. It's probably the most unhinged noise any car has ever made.
Just awesome, one of the best looking race-cars of all time !
Absolutely ferocious. How race cars should sound.
There are all kinds of engine sounds which could fit that bill. A Cosworth DFV in full cry is pretty hard to beat too.
Oh man, I love that V8 sound! Almost like the older 90s NASCAR engine sounds, but with TURBO power.
The thing about Nascar there is no tone variation, no gear changes. This is way better!
1:56 coolest sound of all time
Weooooooooouuuuu
For me this is the Best Sounding Engine / Race Engine ever . Also when the Throttle is being relaesed and the Bulbing Base V8 Sound falls away while Braking . Perfect ..
LARS LH Sauber C9 >>>C11
Sounds very similar to todays C7R Corvette.
@@phoenixsui That's not surprising. It's a cross plane V8. So yeah, it probably does.
I see where you're coming from, it's pure dirty sex but a Ferrari F1 car with an early 90s V12 is Devine.
Totally agree. Sounds 1000x better than the F1 V8's which I experienced in 2008 at the F1 race in Hungary.
This is a phenomenal video Nick!! The C11 is beautiful, the engine is a work of art, the sound is intoxicating, and the flybys on the straights are badass!
DtRockstar1 Thanks mate!
+NM2255 Car HD Videos mercedes did not race in le mans 1990. c11 was driven in 91 @ lemans with schumacher in it...sorry for my bad engl. i´m german
That dirty slow V8 sound that goes into hype speed (01:06) (01:34) when those twin turbo’s kick in.
Saw these cars race in Montreal around 1990. Amazing!
The sound of those turbos spooling down at 1:56 is so cool!!
That's the gearbox making that noise.
@@thethirdman225 No, That's the turbocharger making that noise. Sounds like he just dropped a five-hundred bomb on your position. "Incoming!"
K C Snow Yeah, probably is. There’s another sound at 2:22 which is the gearbox.
You’re right because the whining sound is the gear box
It's the type of gear set they use for this race type gearbox. Possibly like dog cut gears that gets that whining sound either way still sounds awesome nonetheless

From the time when men were men and racecars were like this!
when there were less rules and better cars.
You could say the same about 30's race cars. Skinny tyres, supercharged engines, no downforce. A big wooden steering wheel with no power assist.
And more deaths
Jackson Fortune Do you know what Group C was?
@@johnromerosuck339 😂

Brutal V8 Twin Turbo
Love everything about this car, every single note from this machinery is epic.
Thx for such beautiful video.
shes a beautiful thing and the noise!
I saw this car at donington park as a 10 year old boy and never forgot that sound. I still watch videos of them now. In my opinion one of the greatest race cars ever made.
Hearing that sound on a hot summer day is pure bliss.
Loving the burnouts coming out of the first chicane.
MRFUCKOFF202 just wheelspin not a burnout..
REZO Riix Are you familiar with the term "pedantic"?
MRFUCKOFF202 it's just not a burnout.. A burnout is making your wheels spin on purpose from a standstill, the C11 just spins it's wheels due the high amount of power which isn't transferred to the ground so idgaf
REZO Riix Please forgive me.
Absolutely fantastic video Nick! That Sauber C11 sure does shift, nothing like a Group C monster :)
***** Thanks buddy :)
The ultimate car for the ultimate driver, i hope schumacher fully recovers soon.
+Augusto Ortiz fully recovers? :S not gonna happen
Pow3rus im not sure i havent heard any news since the accident.. can you privde any knowledge?

Best RaceCar in the World
Amazing sound. I have always been a fan of the Mercedes-Benz C9/C11
The deceleration at 1:57 and the sound of the turbos is simply amazing
That's actually the gearbox.
Damn, that transmission whine! Love it!
Love this car sounds bad ass to❤
Man I love these cars. The c11 sound reminds me of the c5r sound but more insane.
The sound from this car is flawless.
This sounds amazing. Legendary car.
Great Sound, Great Video! Congrats, big work!

I will argue this is the best sounding v8 EVER
Wunderbar the Sound of this Car is Amazing
Sounds like a spitfire in dive Mode
That engine sounds SO GOOD 👌!
the best looking, best sounding group C car ever!
Awesome brutal exhaust , i would like to see an e500 with that sound

It sounds like an otherworldly thunderstorm
It sounds like a nascar during the high revving fly-bys. That's a huge plus in my book.
Better than todays hybrid shit,so brutal
+Montenegro Montenegrin Todays race cars are just as awesome as back then.
+Impossibru It is his loss to weep in nostalgia instead of enjoying the current somewhat blooming WEC.

Yeah no sorry modern LMP1 cars blow the doors off of group c prototypes.
Sjamsucks in performance sure, but who cares about speed when you have this rawness and purity to them
OMG,it's my favorite sports Group C LeMans car !!!
Epic car on a great legendary track!
At 1:05 this thing breaks traction in second at around 140kph and leaves two fat 15m 15 inch tire marks. Love that bit.
the best car sound in the world.period
Poor italian Marshall's witnessing the symphony of evil driving by on there holy monza
That sound has high stimulating affinity for my GABAa receptors. So relaxing.
That engine note is so delicious!!!!! If I close my eyes it sounds kind of like a GT40 or a Cobra. :) Awesome!!
What a car.....
WOW!!! That's impressive and I also did not know that Michael Schumacher had anything to do with my LeMans that is pretty damn cool

Zemi Zemjang Nothing like the good sound of a tt v8 right dude?
WHO needs Nascar, If you can enjoy this
Gorgeous car. What a beast. Crazy of Merc not to race it at Lemans in 1990
Le Mans wasn't part of the World Sportscar Championship that year.
The nicest engine sound ever .
If Only F1 Sounded like this car,Fantastic Machine

LEGENDARY !!!
that is EXACTLY what a race car should sound like !!! 🏎💨
I listen to C11 sounds as therapy
Watch out, the beast comes back !!!
Wow. This engine sounds like it got some serious attitudes!
These things r mental
Whatever you can say about EV cars efficiency, then will never give us such thrills and emotions !

The turbo whine...good lord
I love this thing! I suddenly need a twin turbo v8 lol.
V8 hammertime!
sound is amazing......!!!!!!!!!
The Silver Lion
What recent car sounds like this?
Why do Mercs sound so good. Damn !
The black bars the car produces on the exit of the chicane are automotive porn and need censoring
I have been a viewer for a long time, awesome video once again. Keep up the good work!
That limiter turns me on. Wowza!
This sound is brutal,Andrés the whine is similar in nfsmw
nice Video ;) my dad works at this car in Le Mans. It is an Awesome car!
beautiful!
