Just bought a 1986 Regal T-Type , was parked since 1996, gas tank was good but fuel pump and inside of tank was bad, cleaned it up as much as possible, put new fuel pump assembly in, and fresh gas and it fired right up! It had a lifter tic for the first few minutes but cleared........did a fresh oil and filter, added marvel mystery oil to fuel tank and motor, now it stumbles and makes a loud knocking sound when cold unless you touch the throttle a little, can drive it if i baby the throttle and it cruises fine, but csnt get on it because it stumbles, .....my question is, can this be attributed to bad fuel left in the lines? It sounds like a detonation missfire to me, im new to these cars and any suggestions would be appreciated! Sry for the long intro, but only way i could explain what is happening. Check out my channel to see the car, at Hanlonsgarage Tks!!!....by the way i've put about 65km on it and it seems to slowly get better

Thank you for the support. I would do a complete tune-up on it. Also change out the fuel filter too. We will subscribe and watch your channel fellow Buick Brother.

@Hanlonsgarage Also check those injectors too. My hot air turbo Buick still has the original injectors in it. I need to swap them out really soon. Also check to see if your car has an aftermarket chip installed in the ECM.

@@PAA738 I believe the chip and the whole car is all original

@Hanlonsgarage I would still check just to make sure. These cars are old and is known to have modifications from previous owners.
