  • You read that right! You don't need a steam wand to make perfect texture for latte art. All you need is a good old thrift store find- the beloved French Press.
    Take it out of your cupboard, because we have repurposed this device!

    With some french presses, the lid stops you from going down far enough into the milk to break up all the bubbles but you can just unscrew the little knob at the top and take the lid off for more range! Plus you can get some presses where the body is just plastic and glass with the shaft of the plunger being the only metal bit so you can put it right into the microwave to heat your milk and froth in one device!

    • @ujlt7198
      @ujlt7198 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      oh, that's a smarter idea than what i did. the knob on the top of mine was made of wood, so i just.... shaved it down so wouldn't hit the lid so early.

    • @AndyGait

      That's what I do with mine. taking the lid off makes it so much easier. I buy a small plastic body french press for £5 ($7) in the UK, so I can put it straight into the microwave. Works brilliantly.

    I've been doing this for a while and does work very well. It is great to transfer the milk to another device to break up the big bubbles. Thanks for a another great video.

    • @LanceHedrick

    I think it's worth mentioning that the nanofoamer works very similarly. Both use a fine screen to cut up the big bubbles.
    The nanofoamer uses the impeller to push the foam to the screen. With the French press you push/pull the screen into the foam.

    I do this method using good milk powder. This way, i only need to heat the water with my kettle. Stop it kalfway, pour the water on to the french press, then put the kettle back to boil and meanwhile i'm making great milk. From the foaming action you make completely sure it's perfectly incorporated, and you could never tell it was milk powder in the first place. You basically foam milk while solving the greatest problem of milk powder, achieving great dilution

    One tip is to get a french press with no metal parts, or which the glass can be removed. Then the whole french press can enter the microwave to warm the milk. Makes the workflow and thermal management way easier.

    What's the smallest amount of milk I could use to do this??? I like a teeny tiny macchiato :) Thank you for the fun and educational content!

    Silky milky, may your coffee never be silty.

      No silt, no s*it. Only silk.
