Thanks for doing this side-by-side comparison. Ecamm is a great product, but I find I am only using it for Zoom calls. That's $39.99/month. Hoping to see if OBS can help me "show up" professionally on my Zoom calls and save that $39.99 a month!
Kevin Help me figure out why your video image looks so good?? , Here is my issue: I look like a Red Hot Lobster. Here are my specs: ATEM + OBS 30.2.0 + Sony A7iv + MacStudio M2. (All are running the latest updates). Details: When using the HDMI out from the Atem unto my monitor the skin colors and overall picture looks great. Yet when I try to use either the HDMI (via a capture card ) or the USB C cable, and bring the feed into OBS and hit the record button, not only does the preview in OBS make me look like a red hot lobster with a high amount of contrast, but also on the recording side. Troubleshooting I've tried: 1- Under the OBS Advanced options I've chosen "Full" as my Color Range yet it yields the same results. (either "Full" or "Limited" it yield the same results) 2- Under the "source" Device option of the capture card and or HDMI feed, I've tried unchecking the "Use Preset" to try and access the following options down below yet under the latest version of OBS they do Not appear. Input format Color Space Video Range Lastly, to my surprise when running OBS v 30.0.2 and a simple OBSBOT 4k camera running into my M1 Mac Laptop via a USB-c cable both the recording and live feed look great, and those missing options under the "source" device do appear, and as far as the Color Range is concerned, its under "Limited" thank you for your time.
Not sure what to suggest. Have you tried recording with the same setup in different programs like Quicktime or even something like Loom? I'm not an OBS expert but seems that is the root of the issue.
@@KevinKolbe be nice if you could show or tell us what capture card you might use when implementing an Atem and also for audio settings within OBS the implementation of Rode Caster ii. again I'm curious on other peoples set up settings. thanks
Thanks for the ideas. Unless I'm recording direct to camera, which I don't do when at my desk, I'm using whatever program to record either to my hard drive or the cloud. Here's an overview of what I do: • Ecamm - records to an external hard drive • OBS - records to an external hard drive • StreamYard - records to the cloud, then I download to an external drive • Riverside - records to the cloud, then I download to an external drive • Tella - records to the cloud, then I download to an external drive Hope that helps
Yep. That's one of the consistent (inconsistent?) things I've found about OBS, the audio drifting sometimes. Not all the time, but enough that makes it frustrating.
Both ECamm and OBS look very similar but OBS seems to have the better contrast applied to the recording for some reason.
I didn't do any post processing either, no color grading, etc. Straight into the recorder too.
@@KevinKolbe what's your capture card model?
Both record to my hard-drive using the programs, different than say StreamYard or Riverside which record to the cloud, then download later.

Glad it was helpful! I'm not sure you can use OBS with Zoom...maybe you can, just haven't tried it.
I do my church services using OBS and Zoom, so yeah its definitely possible.
@@KevinKolbeI’ve tried it, using virtual OBS cam and firing up zoom
they look super close but obs might look slightly better
Definitely was surprised they looks so similar. I've been doing more testing too and noticing my audio slipping out of sync more in OBS.

Agreed, OBS is more vibrant.
Agree it does look great. Only wish it was a tad easier to use, especially for beginners.
MOre please. thumbs up ! great content!
Really appreciate that. Please share anything specific you got in mind. Thanks

Audio is too low
Thanks for letting me know
I notice as the video progress, the OBS starting to lag behind the Ecamm.⏲⏲⏲

@@KevinKolbe One of the things I don’t hear anymore talking with OBS about. Maybe this what the BS stand for. Thank you for the response.
