The thing with this game is, that it pretty much teaches you how you can redneck-reverse-engineer it. The game rules, available online, tell you all you need to know: two decks of cards, some cardboard, a marker and a pair siccors will get the job done. Buy the game for sure, but if you can't wait for it to arrive in the mail like I did...

After playing a few missions in 2-player and finding it a bit easy, we found that there has actually been updated rules in BGG, that removes a suit from the game to make 3P and 2P game more challenging. The modifications are remove #1 rocket, remove 1 suit from both decks, set 5 face up 5 face down cards for A.I. We like it a lot better and the tricks require more thinking.
Just discovered your channel and really like your taste in games. Hope you'll get to try this new rules for added complexity to The Crew.

Love the space sweatshirt which matches the theme for the game! Great touch - love watching all your videos. :)

Thank you for this video introduction to The Crew! For anyone who is short on time and is familiar with trick-taking card games, here is the basic game play described in precisely 100 words:
Complete each mission by helping all players acquire specific assigned cards or “tasks” (four colors X numbered 1 through 9) by winning tricks containing assigned task.
All playing cards are dealt to players. Deal X number of task cards in center. Players circle to pick tasks.
Player with Black4 trump card (1 of 4 trumps) picks and plays first card.
Players can “radio” once per mission to reveal card as highest or lowest of that color, or only card of that color.
The number of tasks, task selection eligibility, task sequence, and radio access vary by mission (50 in all).

Thanks for not glazing over the two player variant. I play most of my games with more than two, but still enjoy a two player option when it's just me and my wife. There seems to be some snootiness among many reviewers about two player variants being worthless, but somehow single player variants are lauded.

Oh that's really interesting that reviewers are so turned away by 2-player variants. I'm in the opinion that all player count "variants" should be regarded with the same respect considering gamers have such a wide range of playing circumstances. With few exceptions, a game pretty much needs to play well at 2 for us to keep it in our collection so it was important for us to examine this one's. Thanks for watching!

I think that comes from there being so many great 2-player games (and more importantly 2player-ONLY games), imo 2p and 4p kinda being defaults, so competition is tough to the point where people simply assume it's not worth checking out, and not so many singleplayer games, in fact i'd say people have a hard time investing hard cash into a solitary experience (i assume, because that is not what they want from boardgaming in general). If someone was really into playing boardgames alone, i'd be hardpressed to name good ones tbh. Also, singleplayer variants help with testing if you properly understand the rules of the game, if you are the one that will have to explain them to your group, which is frequently the case for me. Though i still prefer Apps and full game releases for the PC, even if that usually comes with it's own set of problems (poor AI usually being the primary offender) if available.

We love tthe game (4-player-group). We are discussing a lot about possible strategies and always want to solve the puzzle. sometimes the tasks are really hard (especially with task with only one color) but still we always say : "aaah lets play again. lets beat it. just one more quest."

We are playing this with another couple. We are only on Mission 26. Not talking is a killer for us. Our house rule is if we deal the same mission 20 times -----it is time for a different game to play.

Never played a trick taking game before and honestly wasn’t thrilled by the Google search results for examples of trick taking games. But I bought The Crew anyways and could not be happier with it! Great review and totally agree, perfect lunch time game/perfect filler game that never turns out to be JUST a filler

I have no clue of trick taking games. And I God this game months ago that for some reason it does not scream "play me" I don't know why.
    I will eventually 💪🏼
