Thank you for this wonderful video! You explained this technique so nicely, especially the difference between retroactive behavior and proactive behavior. I have a better understanding now that because of the vicious circle of depression and inactivity, I can't wait until I "feel like" doing something pleasant - I have to actively seek out positive experiences in order to feel better. The graphics are helpful in understanding the information, and your voice is calming and pleasant to listen to. I'm going to check out more of your videos!
Bipolar here if I don't go to the gym, I get very depressed.. and anxious at work.. cardio movement has helped tremendously with anxiety it's like I can finally catch up to my mind and build blocks of healthy thoughts.
Thank you for this. I feel like I am finally understanding what has been happening to me for the past 4+ years! The idea that the initiating trigger of the depression isn't what's important, but rather changing my actions will lead to a better outcome is so simple but so new to me. For a long time I thought my depression could never be helped because the initial trigger was years in the past. Thank you again for this enlightening and free series, it's truly helpful!!
I enjoy riding my motorcycle. When depressed I don’t feel like riding but if I gather up the energy to gear up & push myself to get out and ride I slowly began enjoying the ride and feel somewhat better. My spouse thinks riding helps me. So your saying to basically do things I enjoy even if I’m depressed correct?
Correct! Doing physical things or things you used to enjoy helps a lot. Will soon realize that depression is self created by our own mind and the way we handle life obstacles.
@@glen5307 not long once I’m actually out on the roads, one thing about motorcycles is it takes all your attention for safety reasons but there is aso that sense of freedom. I do have to push myself quite often just to get the bike out. I do always feel better afterwards and find myself doing other things.
Thank you Magnus for your equally Good second Program. Yes, I understood how I fail to contribute, to improving my mood and energy. You present this subject in a sincere and Ernestmanner thanks for making us realize we have an important and effective role ourselves in our healing. It was encouraging.
I just didn't feel like doing anything. I'm making myself go out, play with my girls. it really is helping. Still working on it but felling better now is giving hope
ive tried this idea of Proactive Behaviour but it didnt work, i forcefully went out with friends on walks multiple times, Forcefully go to the gym to exercise or Forcefully go out on my bike with the intention of feeling better but i dont feel better, sometimes i feel worse, Less Fulfilled. Kinda sucks to get advice to do something you've already been kinda doing that didnt work
I used to feel high and full of energy just some months ago now i feel like i have an acnhor in my body and cant move have lost pleasure in everything...sometimes i think im bipolar 2 but was only diagnosed with clinical depression
i did stop doing activities i did becuase no matter what i still feel lonely i have no friends outside or inside in the internet theyre all shitholes full of people with toxicity, i never enjoyed any activities and never will.
It's not a matter of if it's enjoyable in your current situation, but doing so helps you in the long run. Even if you just get 5% out of an activety that used to give you a 50% boost to your mood, it's still better than 0%. And that stacks up the more you do it. But you wont feel better immediatly, it will take alot of time for it to get better.
same and the only reasin for it is becuase i have ni friends i cant find any if i do they betray online or in the reak world there is full of toxic pieces of shit that onky care about themselves even if i watch comedy memes i still cant get over the fact that im lonely and have nobody.
@@malihederakhshan5575 that is my same problem. You see there are hundreds of millions of people in this world with no friends, achievements or money. You don't know about them because they are not shown on TV. the truth is that life has no meaning and it is beautiful.
You contradict yourself in this vid. First you say with depression things that brought you joy don't anymore. But then you assume that by being proactive one is then able to enjoy. But depression doesn't work like that. I can draw for 2hs or play guitar and still feel no joy. That's depression!
i mean, im having a headache and have really bad concentration atm but i can say that even if i dont feel joy when doing stuff that made me happy before, after i force myself to do it i kinda feel like i can keep going. Its like that feeling of being stuck when you have depression lifts for a moment because i basically just defeated it by doing something and honestly it does give me power.
maybe he meant some new activities than the one that you used to enjoy previously but don't do that anymore. You do things you don't feel like doing in order to feel better. It was said in the video
Came back to thank you for this series and this video. I am in therapy to better face playing this game of life on one of the harder levels 🕹️ (does it get better after the final one?) and this inspired me to name this small dragon, that I can put on my wrist when getting ready for the battle of the hour, BA. He's my little physical reminder that this boss might be tough, but I'm more. Thank you.
You are doing a great job! You have provided me w hope! Thankyou so so much!!!

True but medications help and in several months you might feel better
