I'm so glad you haven't given up on doing narrations, even though they seem not to do get as much attention. Which is unfortunate, they totally deserve it
i have literally listened to this six times already and STILL have no idea what's going on in the story. I keep getting lost in the voice. This is now on my "Had a Bad Day at Work" playlist (along with quite a few of Geoff's songs and Voiceplay's songs). I was waiting for a friend on the way home last week, and she heard me listening to "The Little Mermaid" narration. "Had a bad day at work, did you?" and that's how my playlist got named LOL
Only this voice can tell this story as it is meant to be. What any story teller aspires to. And what fantastic writing. A motion picture made in words.
I enjoyed listening to this thought-provoking and eerie story in Geoff's velvety voice. The coldness and eerieness of the story contrasted wonderfully with Geoff's warm, soft voice. The warm crackle of the fireplace, Niagara's voice, Geoff's perfect voiceover... It was all amazing. Congratulations to everyone involved in this quality work.
Geoff's voice is a true gift to insomniacs like me. I'm so grateful for having his narrations to help me fall asleep. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Geoff. 💗💕💗
This has quickly become my favorite narration of yours for going to sleep to, which is my main use case for your narrations. It is a perfect topic that I deeply relate to as I am going to sleep, yet the stream of semi-consciousness and lack of plot does not give any friction to my brain as it slips into sleep. It is a genius choice and masterful delivery. I appreciate it so much!
I had only read "The Scarlet Letter" by Hawthorne before this. I'm going to have to look up more of his works, because this is beautiful (helps immensely to have such an extraordinary narrator, of course)
Love Hawthorne! I was obsessed with his work when I was a 10ish (I was a strange kid, I was also obsessed with 19'th century Russian writers lmao). Hawthorne is actually a light read, but still uses the English language like it's water, just beautiful and haunting.
I’m reading the Acarlet Letter in my 11th grade honors English. Cant say I’ve read anything I hated more. The way Hawthorne writes is impressive, but he takes way too long to tell us what happened. Why should it take 3 pages to tell us that Hester walked from the jailhouse to the scaffold?
Love Hawthorne! Brilliant reading. Great mood and tone both of which do justice to the story. Love your choice as well. I never thought I would be surprised enough to laugh out loud at Hawthorne, but your measured reading made it possible! True artistry. Thank you! PS. I would love to hear another short story when you have had time enough to create another reading....I can imagine that the quality and artistry of this one took hours of work. English teachers at the secondary and college level should use this as a resource. Another quality that contributes to your artistry is that you recognized and conveyed the overall structure of the story within your reading. That's probably what allowed me the opportunity to understand the turns toward the subtle humor embedded within the text. Jeff, Again, thanks. You made a mundane morning magical.
How wonderfully descriptive this tale is, of those early morning, semi-conscious moments some of us can relate to. Geoff, the beautiful tone of your voice is just perfect to deliver both an air of menace and calm! I'm so glad that you enjoy doing narrations and appreciate you so much for passing that enjoyment to us. Thank you! 😊💜
I'm absolutely going to listen to this, because Geoff's voice often helps me find the calm in the center of the storm, but NOT as I'm trying to fall asleep. I'll go listen to Night Before Christmas and/or The Little Mermaid for that. 🙃
I found you a few days ago from youtube recommended believe it or not, and I love your voice. You have an amazing voice, range, timbre, good technique and phrasing. I've also been enjoying the narration videos, they are very good. Yesterday, I showed my dad your singing videos with voiceplay and here (hes a bass with very little tenor range bc he kinda lost it after years of not using it) and he loves you bc now he can actually sing along to some of his favorite songs IN HIS RANGE (mostly)! So you have two new fans!
This was such an interesting story! So descriptive and very evocative of those middle-of-the-night moments. Geoff, your timbre and inflections are perfection. ❤
You have quite the career ahead of you narrating movies documentaries or really anything! I watched your video on developing a deep voice and it is working. You are a gift my friend! thank you.
Geoff, I am a fan of your narrations, and I have listened to : The Raven, T'was The Night Before Christmas, The Cremation of Sam Mc Gee, Jabberwocky, The Landlady, Annabel Lee, and I just listened to : The Haunted Mind. Geoff, what factors do you consider when you are looking for a new piece to narrate. Geoff, have you considered narrating a small novel/ book over a span of a month or two in a series of 3 or 4 videos on your channel? I would listen to every one of them. I love your music, and now I have found a new love and that is your narrations.
Yesss! 🎉 Thank you, Geoff! Perfect timing, too, I'd just hopped into bed when you posted! Can't get enough of your narrations. Have a lovely night, everyone! 🙏🏼🖤🌖⌛️💀🦇🕷🕸🧟⚰️
At this point, just get that man to fucking narrate the whole works of H.P. Lovecraft.. I mean.. I already bought it on audible.. but I'll fucking buy it again with Geoff reading it.
You have such a great voice for this, Geoff. Can you please read us some H.P. Lovecraft in the future? I recommend "The Outsider" as a short story (for Lovecraft anyway).
I fell asleep that hard, that I realy didn’t know after waking up, if it’s in the Morning, in the Evening, what day it is or even what my Name is. 😂 Thank you!
Sitting here painting my Christmas cards and listening to this.. Totally caught up with the story. Only to realise I'm holding my brush up and its contents spilling onto the cards.... Not quite the design I had in mind... 😂🇬🇧

I seriously would love to hear you read Edgar Allan Poe's poem Raven. That's one of my favorite poems that he did and it's literally like my favorite one I haven't his poem book in my apartment. I have that specific poem bookmarked because it is my favorite poem. But I would to hear it read by you just because I think it's suit your voice. I do love hearing you sing cuz you do have a very very nice baritone deep voice. I hear you talk it's pretty cool. You have a very nice talking voice.
What an incredible combination of meditation (amazing sound effects, BTW) and horror. I think this gives us more of an insight into the inner workings of Mr. Castellucci. 😏🫶🏻
This might sound a little wired... I've lost some of my hearing after getting covid last year. Though I can't understand all the words I'm glad I can still kind of hear this from the vibrations in my ears though my earbuds.
Watching a documentary about Ed and Loraine Warren and their lives and then watching a video of the Conjuring Universe and then hearing this scared the crap out of me
It’s HIS voice that makes everything sound wonderful! I swear that man could read ingredients/nutrition label and give us the feeling!
Only Geoff could make a nightmare sound so soothing and cozy, without losing any of the sense of horror.
Such a wonderful dichotomy.
Geoff should definitely do more of this. I could listen to his voice read an audiobook forever!❤
You could be a hypnotist, Geoff. This story is shivery and yet somehow soothing to listen to.
I love it when deep voices do things like this especially Geoff’s because it sounds like butter!
I'm so glad you haven't given up on doing narrations, even though they seem not to do get as much attention. Which is unfortunate, they totally deserve it
What a beautiful voice to do narrations, so soothing like a fire. I would listen to him all day!
You should check out his reciting "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe
I don’t suggest it…was out like a light for a good night and a half 😆
