i would make the landing areas like my college does with each dorm building - they choose a theme so one of the buildings is themed the movie rio, another is nightmare before christmas (all year round, yes lol) etc. i just feel like it’d be so fun

Okay but why haven’t I heard anyone talk about how the makeup you put on your sims in CAS literally stays on through all the outfits? It was the highlight of my day yesterday. It literally made CAS so easy.

I swear I’ve noticed this feature before.. but it was always very unreliable, like sometimes it would carry on but sometimes it wouldn’t
@@diremirebeeto me it always seemed like it would stay if you just use the first sim you get in cas. I swear every time I use the base sim I get the makeup always transfers to the other categories

I feel like the reason this wasn't mentioned is because, coding wise, it was probably a by-product of making apartments in the first place. Like they probably used the apartment code as a foundation and built on that. So when it was implemented, it affected all apartments. So maybe less an *intended* feature and more something that just happened.

@@josse13579nope! Ninja tweeted about it, it just somehow got left out of the patch notes along with something to do with radiators (guessing the vampires one might be functional now? That was not explained)

I also feel that this is unintentional or a glitch. You can see that this Window customization does not work as good as could asume. You can see it when you go to the Evergreen Harbour and try this out with one of the apartments there.. It does not work that good with the balconies for example..

to anyone curious, you can technically get rid of the needs tlc/historical plaque stuff. it's kind of a pain, but you just need to move someone in, delete all of their furniture, and wait until rent comes. after a few days of non-payment, the repoman will show up, and since you don't have any other furniture, they'll take the tlc stuff/plaque. I don't know for certain if it works with the plaque, but it def works with the pipes and rat holes and all that
Eta: with this update, they may take the windows as well? Haven't tested it. If so just keep waiting, they'll get to the other stuff eventually (assuming this wasn't silently patched out)

So weird that they didn’t announce this in patch notes. I know it’s not unheard of for them to forget to list something, but this is big!
I don't recall which atm but one of the Gurus on Twitter said it was just something that got forgotten. It and I think the update to the Vampires radiators? That or the them reverting the stair railings thing cuz people complained about it.

Some people think this is a bug, and not a new feature, since there are some weird stuff still.
Not just the windows! Onlyabidoang discovered you can also access the apartment shell lots in San Myshuno & Evergreen Harbor by placing stairs. You can’t add in new walls, but you add in furniture and it functions just fine, meaning you can turn the shell apartment into shared spaces now.

he kind of suspects it's a glitch from the patch, but it's still cool we can furnish those empty shells.
I’d honestly rather be able to change the doors on apartments and use the balconies on the Evergreen Harbor apartments than change the windows on San Myshuno apartments.
Yessss. It literally doesn’t make sense why we can’t edit the balconies in evergreen harbor, especially since simmers could with early access??!
@@sophiag612it was breaking the game. Because some of the NAPs in Evergreen Harbor can actually change the exteriors including windows of the apartments in Evergreen Harbor, there was a conflict that could happen when the balconies were editable that could cause a save breaking glitch. For the same reason, even though San Myshuno apartment windows are now editable, the Evergreen harbor apartment windows still are mostly not. I wish they would trouble shoot it more and at least let us “place in world” items from our inventory on the balconies since we can usually place those anywhere.
@@skyechimes658 I believe I have placed an easel from my sims inventory out there before, this was in the last few months so that may have been fixed. But tbh I feel like the “breaking” aspect just isn’t acceptable to me! To put out a game for $40 w such bug fixes really confuses me as a consumer of the games… I don’t think that’s a good excuse for EA!

@skyechimes658 hmmm one potential fix could be before the nap changes to exterior, shift all balcony items to the household inventory. I'm not familiar with the game's code though
i think a really cool thing would be if sims could open and close their curtains. maybe only certain ones, but i just think it would be kinda neat.

In Highschool years, sims can open a window and go out.
Yeah because even with all the options, it's still so limited. Blinds for example act like black out blinds so unless you want to live in dreary darkness 24/7 it's pointless using them
I think City Living will always have a place for people who want apartments but don’t necessarily want to build or download them! Personally I’ll always love it because the environment itself is nostalgic to me. Its the only real metropolitan city world that we have in game I think. With skyscrapers / hi-rises and all.
Now if they could just give players the freedom to change the doors and get rid of the lot challenges we don’t want, it would make everything so much better!
Agreed. I'm more of a build mode simmer. But for gameplay I love festivals and some live mode players just want a quick and easy place to move into.

Literally NEVER look at the outside of the apartments!! This is a huge game changer! ANd since I'm not going to buy For Rent at full price, I'm going to play some San Myshuno for now
I accidentally deleted the windows of an apartment yesterday when I bulldozed the furniture and I thought it was a bug lmao. I’ve been wanting this ever since I bought city living!
Same happened to me, when I bulldozed an apartment in San Myshuno, I tought this feature came with Twistedmexi's T.O.O.L mod but now I know what happened! I'm excited! :)

since it wasn't mentioned anywhere, and we just had a pack where you could fully customize and build your own apartments ... i firmly believe this is an unintended "bug". Maybe some of the apartment-building-coding overlapped with the city living apartments and that's why the outside walls are customizable BECAUSE why, if it was intentional, aren't the hallway doors and lot traits customizable/changable? Exactly. Maybe they will even "fix" the bug and then the community will riot.
It was actually confirmed by SimGuruNinja, it's intentional and not a bug :) They just forgot to mention it in the patch notes. They also forgot to mention the radiator updates, so basically I think it was a case of "too much to mention, and we forgot".
@@espeon9466he said it was missed in the notes that it was updated. Still leaves it open that it may not have been a purposeful release like that.
@@brittknee1146 No, because if it wasn't intentional, then they wouldn't have originally planned to mention it in the notes in the first place. :) He said they missed it out along with the radiator update, therefore it must be intentional. If it wasn't, or a bug, he'd have probably said something along the lines of reporting it on the EA forums instead.
It gives me physical pain that the open mosquito windows place flipped by default. (IRL, the windows would let in rain if placed like that)

I have also chosen not to care about the outside! Why care, we cannot change it and it's more fun to just not care. Sometimes i have decision fatigue though,and in that case I'm happy to just rearrange/remove/reswatch the existing windows.
I really want to see a courtyard oasis style apartment building with the courtyard being the central shared space

Time to put the Industrial Loft Kit to good use especially the windows in that kit for San Myushino.
I found this feature by accident when I was messing around with Eco Lifestyle. The issue with doors seems to be that you can't edit anything that goes up against the hallway/shared space. In one of the Eco Lifestyle apartments I could change any windows on the walls except for anything on the front wall since that's where the hallway is. Still: game changer.
Yeah I found this problem too. I think you're right that it's the shared wall against the hallway that counts as "not your property". I haven't tried but I expect the San Myshuno apartments are the same if you tried to put windows into the public hallways.

I clicked so fast. When she says she complained about this for years, SHE MEANS IT ;D Literally in every video with an apartment speed build haha. And I supported the complaints wholeheartedly because although I don't play, certain windows' placements or colours were indeed aggravating.

you can add workable outside stairs to the smaller apartments too and ladders (and inside stairs) that can go nowhere

i appreciate simsie's builds so much. i love using her older builds still like the little newcrest houses, and just regular family homes. there's just something so clean about her builds and her decorating that i love in my game. her builds don't cause lag either so im always using them!! also i get sims news from her anytime something new happens and the good and the bad of new sims things!! lol

I can’t explain how depressed I was when I first bought packs for the sims, I bought city living and industrial kit together thinking I could make an industrial apartment, and I couldn’t use the windows in the apartment. Thank GOD we can change that now. WHEN ELSE ARE YOU USING THE INDUSTRIAL LOFT KIT…. It’s an industrial LOFT
ended up playing in an apartment that was wayyyyy too big in my new save (it's the making money challenge so they had no money either) and being able to move windows (and SELL them) so I could make the apartment smaller was a lifesaver
i feel like the next pack revamp will be city living, they need to let us adjust the entryways and doors, at the very least through manage worlds, they could also let us upload room groups to the gallery (so, apartments, but also rooms with platforms or with wardrobes, etc.). also, penny pizzazz IS supposed to be famous, she is on multiple billboards around san myshuno and yet she isnt actually famous ingame if you have get famous (?). they also need to add a toggle for festival notifications in settings, theyre so unbearably annoying when you dont care about them (because the festivals are kinda boring)

I thought this was a glitch! Every once in a while the game will bug out and let me change things about the exterior, I just assumed this was another one of those bugs that'd snap back into place as soon as I loaded back into the apartment
Ugh I wish they can update poses for taking photos. So we can do more than 3 people at a time and cute family poses etc. A photography kit would be awesome!

I do agree about the windows, and I'm currently busy rebuilding some horrible apartments... but the apartment with the body outline is actually the easiest to change. Instead of the weird shape, just draw a straight line. The now smaller and windowless room makes for quite a luxurious bathroom, for such a small and cheap apartment. And in the bedroom, you can now place e.g. a desk and a computer under the small window. Then remove the old bathroom, now you have a nice open-floor entertainment area, where you can put kitchen, dining and living room. Put a wall there, one tile from the entrance door - not only you now have a wall for the TV, but also an entrance hall. Now you have a luxurious apartment built in a modern style - open-space entertainment area to the left, private sleeping area to the right. And for the cheapest rent in the town, too!

This video is a little old now, but I have to say that I don't think your builds are ever too much with the color theming. I'm obsessed with it, it's so fun. Like dopamine dressing but for your sims interior design haha
I accidentally found this out when I was doing a fun lil storyline in my head where my sim moved out into an apartment to raise money for a whole house- and then I accidentally grabbed a window and moved it, and I was like,” oh word?” And I forgot about it till now lol
penny's apartment has always been my favorite but editing the windows is a game changer

Well they are the same type of apartment as the City Living ones so it would make sense lol I think it also lets you place items outside of the apartment too. Like in front of the doors going out of the building on the main lvl? I've seen people do that.
It does, but not if there's a balcony on the other side. So that balcony that was changable in early access and then wasn't when the pack came out, you can't change the window or door.
@@moonlitxangel5771 You can sometimes have your sims place things out there, or use the TOOL mod, but you can't place anything in build-mode.
It does, but not for the living room windows. Those change based on certain gameplay aspects, so they're still fixed, but you can edit or change the bedroom windows!
Has anyone else noticed the stair rail bug seems to be fixed?? Or maybe I’m just lucky- but it’s working on my save!!
It wasn't a bug, actually. It was part 1 of a fix to make them work better. But they reverted it since people were complaining. :)
They're still working on making it work the way they want it to afaik though. The end goal to my understanding is the railings only disappearing if something is in the same spot as where they'd be.
They do seem to have fixed it.
I would love to see a video about the extra shared space they added underneath the Stonestreet Apartments in the eco lifestyle world too! :)

THIS DID MAKE ME WANT TO CRY YES oh my goodness best day ever. I don't have For Rent yet but I love San Myshuno it's my second favourite world after Brindleton Bay and I plan on playing there regularly for the rest of Sims 4 AND THIS CHANGES THE ENTIRE GAME!!!!!!

The one on the far right I've always been able to fully edit! The windows and doors, walls stay other than inside area. I'm glad it's all of them now

I love the slightly purple Realm of Magic bricks! When you put it on the wall the colors really came together, because it's actually so subtly tinted purple. It looks like a "normal" enough wall color when next to the bright pink and purple and it just ties them together somehow.

I always changed my windows with the tool mod and it was such a long process, Im so happy that I can do that now without a mod. But I guess I still have to use the tool mod for the door, i can really recommend this mod.

i feel like even if we can build more rentals, city living is still the ONLY city world. like, yes you could make all the lots in other worlds big city buildings, but we still cant make skyscrapers, we cant change everything around the lots being suburbs or country side in every. single. other world 😭 i really hope we get more city worlds its actually unreal tht only 1 out of 25 worlds is an actual city

I’m actually so excited I decorated my Sims entire apartment for a specific storyline I’m playing out with them. I’m super happy with the apartment and would not want to move them out or redo it or anything but for some reason all of the windows just randomly disappeared and I haven’t been able to put them back so I just put mirrors instead 😭😭

Hey Lilsimsie, I definitely didn't catch that when I saw that you can move the windows or layout of the house if you're trying to do a different idea for the walls. I guess they forgot to add that into their patch as they were explaining it. I bet you were happy to see that in your game!! ❤❤❤

I personally like the little touches to the apartments like needs TCL or Historical, because it adds a fun challenge, and irl you won't always be able to get your apartment to fit all your boxes. that's just me
I think that they were supposed to release this as the big new build feature for the for rent EP, but didn't had enough time to finish it and relised it by accident. Hopefully they'll update it to change doors too!
I used this new feature to make a laundromat in the downstairs in one of the apartments of Evergreen Harbour. It is functional (you can also change the windows) but since the door is fake and you can't change it you have to teleport inside/outside.

I think they deliberately don't say anything, just to surprise you creators, when they change something like this window edit. LOL Also the bedroom is just fine. It couldn't be any worse than the multi million mansion in downtown nyc, that was or still is for sale. A different decorator did one room each and they had a cotton candy room, or that is what the real estate tour guy called it. Apparently the owners main bedroom. Made you want to barf.

for rent and city living have similar gameplay but with tweaks that make them unique enough, city living is still iconic because it was first though, as much as i love for rents world

I have my sims live in San Myshuno a lot and I don't think I'll be moving the windows around because I do care that the windows match in the exterior. However I would love to be able to change the doors.
