It always amazes me how Nick has access to so many auspicious spillways that, for the most part, he has to himself! Every spillway within 2-3 hours of me ALWAYS has a minimum of 25 folks. And don’t even think about trying to go when the crappie are spawning! HUNDREDS of people fishing right on top of each other! Have a blessed day!!!
People in the US are spoiled. Its good meat. And this type of carp is not even a bottom feeder, which means its unnecessary to keep the carp for a couple of days in clean water without food. And this is coming from someone, who does not like the taste of carp in general. Its all up to the cook to make something delicious out of it, while other fish are that good, that you want to eat them raw.
I love watching you catch these fish and all these spillways you go to. I live in Northeast Mississippi, and I myself, I love fishing spillways too. you got all kinds of species and you never know what you're going to catch. But if you turn that drag just a little bit looser and let that fish run, you'll land a lot more of your big fish. My oldest brother landed a 65 lb 8 oz Flathead cat fishing for Crappie with a green curly tail grub. A hour and 5 minutes, we put it in the boat. Continue catching 618...
I also saved a little girls life from drowning at those floodgates in this video. She was a little mixed girl, maybe 3 or 4 and walked off the drop off and got sucked down, i was maybe 10 to 12 and jumped in and found her. And I know no one will believe me but I came out of the water dry. I swear. There were even some old men there that were freaked out over the whole ordeal. Then about 15 years later i rab into one of the men that were there, and he was telling a group of people about the storyand I over heard him and chimed in saying it was me that saved her those many years back, and the man said ( you young man deserve a metal, and if thought of you for years. About how you came out dry after saving that girl. Still gives me chills) his words.

That spillway just keeps putting out massive fish. You need to give that one a nickname. Like "the spillway dreams are made of" or "the honey hole". That place is fire! Best spillway I've seen on YT! No wonder it's your favorite. Woule be mine too!
Thanks for taking us fishing with you. Silver carp? Leave skin and scales on. Filet off one side, including ribs. Take the half that still has spine and lay it on grill over a wood fire. Close grill and let it bake for 2 hours. Y bones? They're in a pattern and you'll figure it out. Lay the filet that doesn't have the back bone on tin foil and cook the same way. You'll wonder why you threw them away. Absolutely delicious! My favorite wood to use is soft maple.

Hey Nick, this is my home lake. I used to bowfish here 4-5 times a week. If you're interested in some bowfin the small drainage ditch to the east of the the creek you caught the silvers always has bowfin laying up in the bank. From past experience the fish seem to be most active at night. A lot of people like to catfish at the end of the small wall at the base of the spillway.
I use to do a lot spillway fishing with my grandfather. We caught a lot of carp using corn and a lot of catfish using cut bait. Good video, I enjoyed it!
Looking back through the decades to when I pounded those 618 waters with my old Garcia Mitchell 300 and Ambassador 5000Ds almost brings a tear to my eyes. Best sewer-trout fishing around.
If you were to look where I fish, there's about $45 worth of those curly tails hung to everything. After watching me for a while my grandson says "Poppy, I think you would catch more fish if you didn't get hung so much".
