    I’ve only been watching 618 for about a year No sponsors no bullshit no Collaborations just a one man crew fishing and videoing. Very likable dude keep up the great work Nick. You are the only TH-cam fisherman my wife will watch with me she says it’s like watching a movie. Oh and the respect you show the fish is fantastic

      @cukman1643 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah he is kind of stupid tho. He uses like 1 pound baits on a medium action rod. He also sets circle hooks like J hooks and is overall really bad at catfishing.

      @@cukman1643 dude you came to the wrong spot and wrong person to talk crap . Nick is a great fisherman that loves what he does he is truly enjoyable to watch. Take your worthless trash talk elsewhere

    When you can turn baitfishing from the bank into dang good fishing content, you’ve got skills!!💯

    • @thedangler1371
      @thedangler1371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bank fishing is what makes his content great. Too many guys focusing on boring sport fish. He likes the curious fish that most closed minded anglers consider trash.

    That paddlefish is an insane catch, Nick, major congratulations on that one! You should come out to the Chesapeake sometime, maybe hit up some invasive snakehead in addition to crazy striped bass, bluefish, and catfish.

    The paddle fish often break their bills on the rocks either through what they've been through already or sometimes during the fight when your reeling them in.

    Not watched to end yet, I heard, "Looked like a shark tail"
    I'm guessing either sturgeon or spoonbill.
    Update: Heard prehistoric, still could be either...
    Update 2: Saw the head, yup. A spoonbill.
    Nice, bro! Nice.

    spoonbills best eating fish in fresh water. cut a circle round their tail twist and pull, that's every "bone" in their bodies removed ( that you have to worry about anyway) Since they are filter feeders, I am somewhat surprised you caught on the way you were fishing.

    fishing the rapids in the Shenandoah I learned a trick for snags. I'm sure you know it, but since Ive never seen you try... slack the line and let it run away downstream about four times the distance back to it. once it's let out turn the bail over and run it back to the snag fast as possible. try it from different locations and rod tip angles up and down, even in the water then pulling up or down right before the snag. usually, it will come out.

    I am from the lake you are fishing at {R.L.} about 100 yards down that stream it widens out and just as the water is slowing down there is a pooling area where giant spoonbill lay . They will give a fight you will never forget and likely make a great vid. .... but as you mentioned they have to be snagged . There used to be a sign on the main dam that snagging was permitted 100 yards downstream from the dam . All you need is tough gear and giant treble hooks , have several on hand as you loose one about every 15 minutes to snags ... oh yea.... make sure It's still legal first - I don't want to get you ticketed : )
