Saw all the channels i have subscribed to and their video posts from the last few days and I chose yours to stay up and watch. Great content and no nonsense advice. With the honest reviews and humble attitude, I'll watch your videos over any of the other motor trend channels. Keep it up!

    In the video you mentioned that you wish your programmer could override the traction control. After I was schooled in some soupy mudd in the spring in WV, I learned that you can shut almost everything off if you hold in the vehicle skid control button for 6 seconds. Basically, in 4Hi this is the only way to rid yourself of most of the tech. In 4Lo, this will happen automatically. I know it doesn’t shut it all off, but it gets you closer.

    I have 38 13.50 20 maxxis razr on my 16 superduty. They do not like deep sand, they dig straight down unless I air down or use 4x4. Other than that they handle great, arent much louder than my dc fun countrys. So far have about 15k miles on them a little over 3/4 tread left. But I drive it like a racecar all day long.

    This may not work as well as the "use your back and take the legs out of the equation" lifting method. But here it is. Take one of the tires and roll it to the tailgate of your pickup. Roll it away 1/4 turn. (Have someone hold the tire) Get a second tire that you want to load into the bed and place it perpendicular to the first tire as close as your can get it. Then simple push the second tire against the first tire and it will roll it up and forward toward the bed of the truck. I am always thinking or new ways to stay as lazy as I can.

  • @UtahNick71
    @UtahNick71 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any updates?? I'm thinking of upgrading my KO2's. I know the KM2's are 35.5", but these were 36.5" off the Jeep. Did you measure them on the Jeep also??

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have about 4,000 miles on the Maxxis and they are doing pretty good. They need more air more sensitive to air pressure changes and at low psi do great off road but need a bit more for on highway confidence. The KM2's are just a really awesome tire to beat. They do everything well and last a long time.

  • @carsonwileman
    @carsonwileman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I saw on another video you switched these out around the 20k mile mark(can't find the video again). I am pretty seriously considering this tire, and was wondering how much tread life you had left when you swapped them out, and if you would recommend them. Thanks!

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely can recommend them. Great tire. Looks are awesome, wear is awesome, grip is great. The only thing you should be aware of is around town you can notice the lugs and have a bit of a lumpy feel... not bad at all but more pronounced than the Falken or Milestar tires I have. I would get them again for sure.

  • @tommyr95
    @tommyr95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Jason, now that you've got a ton of road/highway miles on these, I'd like your opinion on their road manners. I've been super pleased with the road manners of my Nitto Trail Grapplers, but am considering these Razrs for my next set. I know all of these are good offroad, but how are they at highway speeds? Smooth rolling? Tons of balancing weights? Excessive vibration/noise? Thanks, man! I really appreciate your input. :)

  • @matt5203
    @matt5203 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How's road noise? How do you like them so far? Looking to pick up some new tires this week the razr are at the top of the list.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Maxxis are about the same noise level as the BFG's so I would say pretty good but the Falken tires I have on the truck are remarkably quite for mud terrains. The Razrs performed amazingly well on my last road trip out to Moab... both on the highway and on the trails. So I can honestly recommend them!

    Hi. To measure the actual tire diameter for the speedometer, you should measure from the center of the axle to the floor with the weight of the Jeep on the tires. Then multiply that value by 2. The height of the tire without weight of the Jeep is not such an accurate measurement for the speedometer. I estimate that the real value is closer to 36in than to 36.5in. Nice Jeep, I'm a fan since the beginning of the built.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct! Love to learn that little trick... they are 36! And the speedo checks out perfect.

      They were amazingly tough. I have since swapped to the Milestar Patagonia and they are so different. So it all depends on what you want so here's my honest take. The Razrs look way tougher and actually feel stronger but that comes at a price of feeling chunky around town and on the highway. The Patagonias are much quieter and don't have near as strong of a sidewall but they are amazing around town and on the highway. I have videos of doing crazy stuff on both so it comes down to what you want and like the looks of.

    Can I get an update on these tires? I’m looking to buy new 37s ASAP. I’m too indecisive but the Maxxis Razr And Falken Wildpeak area couple top choices. Switching from the Nitto Ridge Grapplers to try something new. Bought beadlocks. Changing everything over at once (wheels, tires, big brakes)

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tough question. For overall performance and comfort the Falken Wildpeak are the best. For aired down confidence the Maxxis are fantastic but are loud and lumpy in daily driving so if it's max off road grip in low air pressure situations go Maxxis Rzr but as an all around great performer... Falken all the way.

    Did you change something in the drive train to run with 37's?

  • @Lottahops
    @Lottahops 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You had mentioned the 4.88's, I can't find when you had them added to your jeep. Are they fitted into the Dana 44's or do you have different front and rear ends from stock?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ordered gears and axle shafts from G2 and installed them in the stock D44 housings.

    How were the tires? Searched for your review on them. Didn't find anything. Really considering these tires. Thanks for any advice and review.

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't taken the time to do a specific review on them but I can give you my thoughts so far.
      They are decent all around tires but are as loud as you would expect on the highway and in low speed around town maneuvers you can feel each lug on the tires as you roll. BUT aired down off road... they are simply amazing... better than the BFG's. So a little compromise all around but fantastic performance where it counts! Hope that helps.

      Installed Thursday (arrived one day early, BONUS!!) Ran them on a rocky trail in the desert on Sunday. Dropped psi to 14 on 295/70r17's and they stuck like glue on the rocks. Gonna do my own review on them on a forum I'm apart of. I'll try and come back here periodically and see if you've uploaded your review for comparo. Thanks again for taking the time to get back to me with info!

    Do you have the adjustable track bar in the rear of your Jeep or is it just a relocation bracket

    • @AutoEdits

      The track bar is adjustable but the mount is not.

    Question sorry if I missed it? Do u need to upgrade ur axles for 37s or can the stock ones handle it? I always hear mixed on this was wondering what u thought?

      Mark Fisch well do u mean axle ratio or axles shafts? Always for the first and for the second it depends on how you use your vehicle.
      Mall crawler - No
      Weekend warrior - I would for peace of mind but not necessary
      Offroad Enthusiast - YES YES AND YES!
      P.S. even if you have a truck like me I recommend following my scientific explanation to your question 😁

      autoedit excluding my first vehicle that needed new rears every 5k miles (10k total life), I usually only get around 20k to maybe 30k miles out of a set of tires. It sucks but it also means discount gives me a hell of a rebate since they are warrantied for 60k miles.
      Those looked like they could easily have done another 25k miles.

    I know you love Milestar tires. But how were they?

    • @AutoEdits
      @AutoEdits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really liked the looks and performance of the Razrs. Very tough tire and they instill confidence... the things the Patagonias are better at are on the highway/around town and lower price. I don't feel the sidewall on the Pat's is anywhere near as durable as the Razrs.

      If you want real tyres you get cooper or Nitto's not maxis and bf goodrich etc which are rubbish.

    • @estbeta
      @estbeta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Moyle I disagree with you. nittos and cooper are great but bfg and maxxis are very good too. If you get the appropriate tires that suit the kind of terrain (off road) that you wil drive the most you can get good performance in every aspect from those tires

    • @haydenbriggs
      @haydenbriggs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      esteban betancourt Maxxis and BFG have a great, if not the best, reputations in the offroad racing world. So to say these tires aren't as good as Nittos or Coppers is just ignorant.
