I fitted these to a Landcruiser 300 series, based on your previous review. I am really pleased with the tyres so far, nice and quiet and the ride is excellent.
Great video, I am currently running the same Maxxis AT on the Challenger and so is the Other one. We absolutely love these tyres. I came from the BFG KM2's and used to have the BFG KO2's which were dangerous on the Challenger, We have since put them on the Pajero and the wife has liked them but much prefers the Maxxis as well. We have noticed the wear is almost the same as the BFGs but have a softer compound. The silence is amazing, no more humming from both the KM2s and KO2s. They are perfect.

Good review Matt - I have these on my 100 series, they are going really well so far... good touring/offroad tyre I think.
Love them, 4 vehicles with them at various km’s and they are amazing. I fitted a set because I needed to and after 10k driving I ditched 3 vehicles with BFG’s and fitted all three with the Maxxis AT.
I just got a good friend of mine on a set in Texas USA he could not believe the improvement.

I contacted the maxxis distributor when I bought some for my fortuner. I was contacted by an engineer how took some details such as weight and recommended 35psi all round. The tyre place had them at 40!

Hi Matt. Once again another thoughtful, useful video. Well done. I have run the same tyres on my Cruiser for over 10000kms. Mainly in Vic high country. I agree that they are excellent in a variety of surfaces. What I like most about them is that they are grippy, particularly in the wet, on those rainy Melbourne roads. I can depend on them to stop my vehicle when I need to. Not great in mud, but most ATs struggle with mud, so winching is going to be necessary sometimes. If people are considering getting the Maxxis ATs, I certainly recommend them.

Great video! I've driven over 7000 km on the same tyre model for my Patrol ZD30, and they've worn, on average, just over 1 mm (measured just now). Although my usage currently includes a lot of city driving, I'm pleased with their durability. I agree with everything you mentioned and appreciate the expected longevity. And yes, I should rotate them more often... I purchased them based on your previous video. Great job!

Run my Triton and other 4wd at 35 psi. Always get great even tyre life. Agree on pressures Matt 👍
I've got these tyres, and hell they do make a difference and never had any dramas when in bush.
I've been running the Faulkin at wildpeak and quiet on the road and great in the wet on road and off road been good too. Could be better off road but then might need muddies..
I have these on my FJ, pretty happy with them, road force balance they run great.

I had a set of Co*&%4# AT’s years ago that threw a wall of rocks at the van every chance they got. I cannot imagine these will throw up more stones than them. A

Thanks for putting my mind at ease re tyre pressure. All the tyre shops say to run 40psi but I felt it ran a bit harsh on road so I run 34-36 and it is heaps smoother and has not effected tyre wear. Running the wild peaks A/T for 30k now on a 100 series and down about 3mm. (I am including the spare in the rotation though).
I feel that you get what you pay for. All the better brands around $380 to$420 with give a good run.

I really like them, excellent on and off road. Bag out well for slow 4WDing and perform very well around town, in the wet, and while towing our camper trailer. Highly recommend.
Got these in 265/70/17 on my Ranger. Had them for 3 years and just ticked over 50,000km and couldn't be happier with them. If I wanted to run them down to the minimum legal tread depth I'll get well over 100,000km out of them (that's based on doing regular 5 tyre rotations). Probably won't let them get that low in tread depth though. In reality I'd expect I'll get maybe 80,000-90,000km of out them, and I'm more than happy with that. They haven't been used off road anywhere near as much as I'd like but when I have done they have been fantastic. A little firmer in the side wall than my previous tyres so I've got to drop the pressures a little lower that's not a negative, it's just that every tyre is different. On road handling is also good. Sure, I can get them slipping in the wet, but they do it predictably and don't just let go. I also tow a 3T caravan and run the rears at around 55psi for that and they manage that without issues as well. All in all they are good all round tyre, and I'd certainly have another set.
Been running these for around 30k, flogged up and down the coast.. Roads, mud, sand you name it... honestly, the only tyre id replace with another same set.. quality product.
Maxis RAZR tires are my favorite tires. I'm running MT's out here in the California/Arizona harsh deserts. Hooked on Maxxis tires!
Ive got the Razr Mts on my Ln106 Hilux. I run them at 30psi on road. About 20k in and have barely any wear 👍
I'm running these on a modified GWM Canon in 32", 18000km and 1mm wear, even on all tyres and even across the tread, can't fault them. Running 36psi, and the car is lifted 50mm and has proper alignment and drives dead straight. Wet weather is excellent, better by some margin than the BFG K02 I had on my last 4WD, will see how they go after 30k that is were most AT start to get loud and stop working in the wet.
Toyo RT. Running these for 3 yrs and love them. Holding up to the desert well... I've heard good things about the maxxis also..

I’m running these on my Escalade for on road. Off-road desert terrain. Some mudding. And snow use. 20,000 miles on them no issues. Very happy with them.
I've been running a set of Hifly ATs for the last couple of years on my GQ Patrol. They've worn fairly well except for the left front and that was because of alignment issues. They've done quite well on the bad road over here. I'd buy another set, but they're no longer available here.

I got new tyres on my 80 15k ago. Couldn’t get the Maxxis in time. Had to revert to the BFs. I’ll be interested to se how they go around 70-75k as the BFs get hard and tend to slip on the road when wet.

Yes, I just ran through the life of my K02's and am now ready for new tyres. I have to say, the K02's are almost dangerous on wet pavement. There has been a few time where I almost swapped out my tyres early just for safety reasons. My mechanic runs these Maxxis (which I never head of before) on his 2007 Ranger and he swears by them and it's why I'm watching this video :). A good friend of mine has the Falcon Wildpeaks AT3 on his brand-new Ranger and he swears the them as well. Too many choices but I will never go back to the KO's.
Lovely Ep and they look a good tyre, Ive run Vitora Country life 265/75 x 16s ATs on my older 1990- 1HZ n/a 80 series this time , cost me $200 a tyre F&B. They have done 65,000ks and due to be changed soon, Half of which is either towing my 5m tinny 1,49 ton on fishing trips up north, Which I am just back from nearly did 11,000ks on this trip from Cooroy to Nhulunbuy and around up to Weipa and back to Cooroy, Plus I tow our 1983 windup Jayco on Fam trips to been great tyres for the coin I payed,
They are a good solid tyre for your use my second choice I run the nitto trailgrappler they do tax the fuel but my vehicle is only used for outback travel never have any tyre issues and extremely hard wearing enjoy
On my Land Rover (it's and old 'un, short-wheelbase), with a GVM of 2120 kg (4674 lb) with max. axle loads of 930 kg (2050 lb) on the front, and 1190 kg (2624 lb) on the rear, I run 25 psi (1.7 bar) on the front, and 30 psi (2.1 bar) on the rear fully laden for on-road use, 16 psi (1.1 bar) on the front, and 20 psi (1.4 bar) on the rear for tracks and sand up to 40 mph (65 km/h), and 9 psi (0.6 bar) on the front, and 10 psi (0.7 bar) on the rear for emergency use up to 12 mph (20 km/h). For light load use, defined by Land Rover as a max. rear axle load of 900 kg (1984 lb), I use 25 psi (1.7 bar) front and rear fully laden for on-road use, 16 psi (1.1 bar) front and rear for tracks and sand up to 40 mph (65 km/h), and 9 psi (0.6 bar) front rear for emergency use up to 12 mph (20 km/h).
Michelin state a minimum pressure of 9 psi (0.6 bar) for all axle loads below 1100 kg (2425 lb) when at emergency pressures with my tyres - Michelin 4x4-O/R 7.50 R16 XZL 10PR, so I never go below that. I've come to the conclusion Michelin know far more about tyres than I do. All of these pressures are based upon Michelin's tyre pressure tables, and actually marry up to Land Rover's recommended on-road pressures for the same size tyres on my vehicle.
I just put them on my F150. Just got a foot of snow in Reno Nevada they are awesome. I run 35 front 30 rear
Great review, im running east same tyre 285 75 16 on my 105 petrol 2” lift 3T average weight constant 4wd (haven’t converted yet to a part time spool). I have just clicked over 40K km on mine and im sitting at 8mm tread depth rotated and balanced twice only since putting them on (unfortunately i was lazy as well with spare so its new at 12mm) tread wear is even across all 4 tyres, i run them generally at 35 psi for on road front & rear. So im getting 1mm wear per 10,000km not as much aggressive wheeling as yours at this stage.

I've been running them for 28k km on my Triton (265/75R16, 31.6"), and so far I'm very happy with them. It's my daily driver, and I'm setting it up for a little bit of everything off-road (leaning more towards touring). As you mentioned, they're not the best tyre in mud, but that's just a part of running ATs, and the benefits for on-road handling make up for it in my mind. I will probably replace them with a different hybrid/aggressive AT when they're done, but that's just because I want to try multiple options, not because of the tyre itself.

I have a set of these on my 2015 Silverado in 275/60/20 (33 1/2 in) and i love these tires. I have always enjoyed Maxxis tires growing up riding dirtbikes and i was very surprised how Maxxis was never a household name in the USA when it comes to automotive tires unlike in Asia and Oceania. Most of my driving is done on the highway but i occasionally go offroad and cannot say anything negative about them so far! The onroad handling is great and i have never had an issue while driving in muddy, wet, or snowy conditions. They seem to be wearing well after 10k miles, for the money i think they are a great purchase for someone who wants an all around tire that looks aggressive but not to the point where it compromises ride quality.

35psi is very common for land cruisers, 4runners , fj cruisers, highlanders, Tacomas tires wear pretty good when you keep them at standred 35 psi especially for a 35 inch tire down to a 30 inch tire I agree with you good video mate
Here in Oz there’s a lot of people who think 40psi is the best number.

Weighing up if I should move to the Razar AT, I currently run Maxxis 711 ATs. Have done 79000km and tyres are down from 10mm of tread to 5mm currently. I mainly travel on sealed roads and sand / gravel, nothing really hard core.
Have the same tyres on my MU-X and have found them to be excellent

I'm running the MAXXIS RAZOR MTs at moment and I can't fault them either they have a little road noise but that doesn't bother me I'm happy with the MAXXIS brand so far 👍🏻
I have the MTs on the F250 and they’re surprisingly quite for a mud tyre.
Can't decide between the at and mt for a Navara, currently running bfg ko2s
I went from AT to MT. I'm not 100% sure if it impacted fuel economy, but driving them has made me feel more secure in especially muddy situations. In my area they're lots of situations where you see grass, but in reality it's a mud pool. So it feel safer. On all other areas, even in sandy deserts, they have done above expectations. I wouldn't go back to AT anymore unless i would do more on-road than i do now (65/35).
@@QnA22 I actually got a set of RAZR MTs too a couple of days ago, they have a hum on the highway but nothing too serious, they seem to be very good on the mountain. Haven't had the chance to put them through serious mud but they seem rather gnarly compared to the KM3s & STT PROs.
@@jimk8592 I have the hum too, but only on those old style, very closed up, tarmac. Newer compounds have no hum, and are barely audible in the cabin.

I was just wondering I have a 200 Series Land Cruiser and looking for a hybrid or aggressive A/T tyres for my car. Price isn’t a factor just looking for
Something all rounded that the wife can use as a daily driver and I can hit hard tracks with the boys on the weekend. Is there anything you would recommend? Or you really sold on these Maxxis A/T?

I’m very happy with the Maxxis but if I wasn’t I’d tell you. That’s the deal I have with them that I can be honest. I’m still very happy with the ATs and surprised how well they go for an At. Watch this Sundays video to see how they perform. The other option is to run two sets of tyres and wheels.

If you could let the maxxis reps know that if they can bring in the AT811 with the 12 ply sidewalls in a 37x12.50r17 it would be great. They list it on their website, but no stock in country. All the guys who run light trucks with super singles would be very appreciative, since there is very few tyre options with weight rating of above 124

Running razors now on my work ute on the mines bloody good tyre highly recommend driving on hard rock pit floors stand up to the task strong sidewall
For the price im not to fussed as i go for a tyre that is strong and not puncture easy and these do that job mint
Before that had bfgoodrich at they were good but useless when muddy and slippery as when wet and had to drop the tyres pressures other puncture very easily

I have a hunch the falken wildpeak at4w are the ones to look out for .. once they hit Aussies shores .. or given shipping today being abysmal .. maybe we will never see the falken wildpeak gen 4's this side of 2024... lol we are like Africa !! But like any 4weeling nut we love the tire or tyre debate .. and the next best thing on the horizon.

That’s a difficult question to answer. It depends on the weight of the car.
I swapped last year from BFG K02's which i found dangerous in the wet on bitumen or asphalt . Cant fault the Razr's
What rating and construction are the side walls and tread area on them ?
You’d have to look on the website for the type and size you want.
Are the tires true to size? I've seen another reviewer saying the tire measure about 35" for a 37" tire.
I’ve not measured them but they’d have to be close to size.
You’re gonna have blokes with pitchforks and fire in your front yard for suggesting a sensible pressure like 36-37 psi for a vehicle of around the weight of yours, Matt 😂
I’ve always thought the tyre shops and service departments spit out the good ol’ “40 psi mate” because they know the vast majority of people never check their tyre pressures.
I like to follow the hot tyre pressure test of a 4-6 psi increase from cold pressures after driving at highway speed for an hour.

I would like to know how true to size they are. It's a strange phenomenon how tyre manufacturers stamp sizes on the side wall and are not accurate and different from each manufacturer.

I'm running Wild Peak AT3's on my Highlux and at nearly 3 years, I'm still happy with them!
I rotate them regularly and run around 38-40 psi on road as it's quite heavy.
Never had a puncture either!
Would I run them again on my vehicle, definitely a YES.
Mine have worn 5mm in 15000ks and i have rotated them, have a mate with a hilux who got 30,000ks out of them before they were 2mm tread depth, so i havent been super happy with them
My cruiser is around 3500kgs and rear heavy so I run 40 psi in the front and 44 in the rear, maybe I've been running to high pressure?
@@maxratzlaff8333 that’s really bad wear, id really make sure your front & rear wheel alignments are within spec my cruiser is often at 3500kg and im sitting at 8mm still on tyres all same wear after 40k km.

Your review Matt is one of the more comprehensive and non biased but takes into considerations a lot of variables which you note, so many tyre reviews do not do this.Tyre reviews by 4WD-ers are some of the most ridiculous nonsensical things in the industry. What I mean is that it is so hard to compare yet people come up with hard conclusions so easily. Like "they're bad in the wet, they are less grippy off road, one punctures more easily", fact is unless you are testing these theories on exact seam vehicle, exact driving style, exact road, exact weight, exact pressures, exact terrain, exact puncture objects you just can't come up with hard conclusions. It's the basics basics of running an experiment and testing a theory.

I had Maxis razr mud terrain on my patrol and couldn’t fault them. I put these maxis razr all terrain on my Land Cruiser and they are just as good.
My Experience - very disappointed with the mileage. . Fitted from new to our 2021 DMAX Dual cab ute, as an Alternative to the Mickey ATZ which were not available at the time. At 50,000 klm they are on the tread wear indicators, despite regularly checking pressures, alignment , rotation etc. . Wet weather performance is dismal, particularly when unladen. Off road they are adequate, and have performed well in sand and rocky tracks, beach Vic High country. etc. Typically we get upwards of 80K out of a set of tyres , so 50K is very disappointing.
Wow. You’re the first person who’s had a negative experience with them. I’d be upset if I only got that many ks too.
Is it not true the minimum road legal tread depth is 3mm, not 2mm
I don’t know about that but tyres have a wear indicator and to my understanding that mustn’t touch the road.
The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, according to law.

Tyre and safety experts believe the 1.6mm legal minimum is insufficient to guarantee safety - most recommend a minimum tread depth of 3mm for tyre replacement.
The difference in wet braking distance between a tyre worn to 3mm and one worn to 1.6mm can be as much as 44%.

On my Continental premium contact 6, you have wear indicators for both wet grip 3mm, and the legal 1.6 mm.

Yeah that’s a fairly good run don’t you think? If I get 80k out of them that’s doing well.
A mate of mine has these. He hasn't had them long, and the leading edge of all of the side tread blocks are destroyed. They won't last long.
That’s odd. What pressure is he running. That sounds like there’s a problem that needs investigating.
@@MadMatt4WD his N80 dual cab hilux has an aluminium canopy and GVM upgrade, good suspension. I have 4wded with him numerous times and he has run my suggested tyre pressures, we have done some semi serious stuff but not tyre destroying stuff, everyone else's tyres are fine. Maybe he has run 2wd in some places and loaded up the tyres too much, i don't know. I just don't know of anything being done wrong. Simpler to just suggest he doesn't get them again. They aren't a Tier 1 tyre company. They are a cheaper tyre for a reason. Another mate got the previous maxxis AT tyres cheap through work but said they wore quickly.

I have razr at's on my dmax they're 3/4 worn at 26000 km & I'm expecting to only get about 30000 km out of them. They're good on road, nothing special off road.
That’s horrendous mileage. They’re not mud tyres that’s for sure but they do well for what they are Offroad.
r.e the razr at's, I was talking to a local tyre distributor this morning & he's had no end of trouble with these tyres, customer complaints & returns due to poor mileage & tread degradation. Mine are starting to lose chunks off the tread blocks, most likely from the 2km of gravel road I drive daily, at 26-27000 km.
@@oz327 yeah right. I guess a tyre shop would see a lot more than I ever will. I’ve just had a good run with them so far. That’s all I can be honest about.
@MadMatt4WD My brothers mate like you can't fault them, maybe mine were from a bad batch. They were made in Thailand. Apparently, they are manufactured in multiple countries, so maybe there is a difference in quality depending on where they're made.
My maxxis are now at 30000 kms & today the right rear let go at 80kmh, sidewall tore from the tread nearly to the rim.

I have a set on my GU Wagon, on road nice ride quality, off road also great, Ive done 60tho klms so far. My only complaint is the price which has gone up over the past couple of years.

@MadMatt4WD yeah I'm looking at replacing them soon as they are nearly at the minimum tread depth, but I will have to fork out an extra 500 bucks from when I bought em 3 years ago as the price has gone up $100 per tyre, but ahh well I guess if you want quality then ya gotta stump the extra dollarie-doos for it.
@@aussieausdeutschland4245 Yeah tyres are expensive and nothing worse than buying a tyre that's crap. When I find a good tyre I do like to stick with it for as long as I can.
