This, is, the greatest roots rock of all time. Not only was Steve Young a great vocalist, song writer, he was also an amazing guitar player!

A memory of Steve Young: a couple of nights at the Exit Inn in Nashville in the early '70s, I went to hear Josh Graves, the dobro player who played on the album "Seven Bridges Road" by Steve Y. Both times, Josh gets partly into his set and looks out into the audience, acts all surprised and says, "Well, I'll be darned! There a friend of mine . . . let's invite him up to the stage and have him sing a song or two." Of course, it's Steve Young and he comes onstage, hooks his thumbs in his belt loops and sings. He was surprisingly little and he had a huge voice. Great singer, great songs.

I Have never understood, how a man who was one of the greatest song writers, guitar players, and most certainly the finest vocalists, has been so ignored. Shame Shame!

camilla, dont give up your musical heroes, popularity passes through a sort of "prostitution" for musicians (producers, record executives and companies...),please be proud of your choices in music and try to give your sons a musical education......keep the flag of great songwriters up in the sky (btw listen to some of my musical heroes as David Wiffen,Bruce Cockburn,Mike Wilhelm,Jim Messina,John Cipollina,Skip Battin,Clarence White,Tim Hardin and many others) Greetings from Italy Rob

Well Camilla I liken it to what I called the Bob Dylan Kris Kristofferson syndrome what I mean by that is what do you think of Seven Bridges Road most people don't think Steve Young right off the bat they automatically think the Eagles all live singing In Harmony six different parts right six different guitars ringing so Steve was one of those ones the intensity in the greatness of his voice but it was an acquired sound for many people just like Kris Kristofferson look at how many damn songs he's written Through The Years yet some people can't stand to hear him sing they'd rather hear other people interpret his songs just like Bob Dylan now this is my own opinion but it's the reason I used to Kristofferson reference to Steve basically in answering your question maybe I'm wrong but that's my take on it

I've heard hank juniors version over and over and he didn't make it his own song. I only realized this after discovering Steve young. Bocephus cover was horrible, really listen to him sing it. Steve's up in the age and has lost his voice in this rendition, but when he was younger and singing this song, he killed it.

Good Lord, I always liked Steve's version of this on Seven Bridges Road the best, but I think with the few extra years that this version is better. Didn't think I'd ever hear one better than the original.
