TRAILER: Refugees in Limbo: Japan's Immigration Predicament (2025)

A work-in-progress documentary by Mia Tsuchida, in collaboration with a 3-week anthropological research trip led by Dr. Sam Pack of Kenyon College and Dr. Taku Suzuki of Denison University, and a 6-team cohort of students.
Refugees in Limbo narrates the stories of asylum seekers and refugees in Japan, and the cyclical broken immigration system they are trapped in.
The research trip was funded by ASIANetwork's Student-Faculty Fellows Program.

Protect your culture. Protect your people. Japan should be proud of it's history (mostly) and it's rich culture. Today I can barely go anywhere with a guarantee that the person I need to speak to will speak English. The litter is out of control, even by American standards. And we have immigrants here now who think our women are whores if they wear normal clothes, or are out without a man. Often they act towards these women as they would if they were in the countries they "fled".

Also nearly all of these "Refugees" are men in their 20s-30s and aren't fleeing from anything its the same here in Wales where these "poor refugees" try breaking into my home, threatened my neighbour with weapons and loiter outside of schools and parks (playgrounds) harassing children, robbing the local childrens charity oh and they also tried to r*pe my friend
Ukrainians [legitimate refugees] are almost exclusively women and children and they don't really commit any crime there is a massive difference between them.
So stop spouting bullshit thanks

One of the problem is Crimes commited by Foreigners are increasing, and the media is over reporting about it.
The reason why crime of foreigners are rising is the difference in salary.
Foreigners get only 1/4 to 1/3 of national average salary, we can't use our paid leave, no sick leave either.
No Bonus, no compensations when we get injured at work, or any financial aids.
I'm not optimistic to get the same salary as Japanese people, but at least give us living wage and rights so we don't look for other means to earn living wage.

The Japanese people don't want you here and yet you insist on overstaying and them requiring to bend their rules and laws in order to accommodate you and your feelings. Is the media overreporting or is it just the plain simple truth that their core societal norms are changing because of the crimes that these "refugees" commit?
