    I just got one of these 2 weeks ago for watching movies and I love it.
    Out of the box it was set to bright setting and was very very bright, so I set it to Eco and the picture is perfect. That should get me 10,000 hours of lamp life!
    I'm beaming a 120 inch image straight on the wall and it looks amazing. I did buy a cheap screen but it made no difference to picture quality and looked tacky sagging on the wall so I took the screen down and straight on the wall is perfect.
    I might build a proper frame for the screen one day.
    Great projector

    This has been my most popular projector video. Would love to hear what other projectors you would like me to review. Let's keep it to Optoma and BenQ for now. Thanks a bunch for the engagement on this video 🙂
    P.S. Some viewers have commented that remote issues were due to the presence of a thin plastic film over the IR sensors.

    Hi, great review! Several other persons who reviewed this model reported trouble with I/R input sensitivity and then subsequently discovered that there's a clear plastic film over the remote sensor. Removing that film caused the remote sensitivity to increase for them dramatically.

    On full brightness I personally find the fan noise to be far too loud. Luckily I only use the projector in the evening and I find full brightness to actually be too bright for night viewing. So I use eco-mode and I find that to be perfect for both image and noise level.

      @@zas786 I got both home now. Unfortunately i see a lot of rainbow effect on the HD146X. Like, constantly. It's no suprise i'm sensitive with visueal/audio stuff. It's really a shame because i prefer the HD146X image and on ECO it's very quite. The Epson is notacibly louder in ECO and the image is a bit cold. Maybe some color calibration can help. I can't deal with the rainbow however. I read that it gets less with time, because the lamp softens and your eyes/brain gets used to it, but it's so bad that i can't take that chance.

    I've been buying sub $100 conference room projectors for a while now, I've had good luck with them but I think it's finally time for me to get a 1080p decent projector. I'm spotting one of these on eBay for under 300 bucks, gently used with no remote, no big deal. However I was reading Amazon reviews and they say that the warranty card specifies that you're not supposed to angle or tip the projector when laying flat or vertically mounted. I have a ceiling that slopes upwards towards the screen, so I have to angle the projector slightly upwards to get the image in the center of the screen, will that possibly void the warranty? (Or my concern, damage the bulb or unit itself?)
    Also it seems like it has a very narrow zoom, according to projector central it's between 10.8 ft and 11.9 ft for 100 inch diagonal screen. Is the screen truly 16:9? Or is it 4:3 with 16:9 in the middle? Most of the conference room projectors I've gotten have been 4:3 so there's a ton of light bleed above and below the 16:9 picture.
    Sadly I think my distance from the lens to the screen is less than 10 ft so I may not be able to get the full 100" anyway.
    Thanks for the video, it does add to my must check out list. 3600 lumens at 10-bit color depth is pretty nice.

    • @zas786
      @zas786  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try my best to answer all your questions 🙂
      You are buying it used. Are you sure it's still under warranty? I don't know about the warranty being voided. Thats very specific to manufacturer, so best to reach out to them. I have my Sony hanging from ceiling and with a slight tilt. No danger to bulb or unit. As far as image, the HD146X has great keystone correction, so centering image shouldn't be an issue. And, yes, image is 16:9.
      At under 10 ft length, unfortunately, you will get a max screen of about 85 inches.

    Good review! IMO the fan is noisy. Mine is mounted 120cm above my head, on a shelf, and I thing it's annoying on max brightness. Note: You said it only has horizontal keystone correction, but I'm sure you meant vertical. It does have vertical keystone correction. The little hole with the padlock icon next to it is a Kensington security slot.

    • @zas786
      @zas786  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sure you are right. I probably got my horizontal and vertical mixed up.
      As far as fan noise goes, I used an app and it was registering at around 40 dB, which is very quiet.
      I never felt like I heard any fan noise over the movie sounds. If the unit is not playing anything, you will hear it, like almost any projector.

      Not to mention dedicated screens also gain or subtract on the grayscale quality, usually a positive gain will make things brighter but also washes blacks out, where a lower gain screen will make the darks richer, but at the expense of the brightness. Many people recommend if you watch a lot of dark content in a dark room, to use a screen that is more towards the gray spectrum than the white spectrum.

      You can't connect a flash drive to watch movies. The USB on this projector is only as a power source, or to connect an external mouse/remote.

    how to change or cean the filter please

    • @zas786
      @zas786  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is usually an opening near the right or left ventilation slots. Once you find that, filter should be easy to take out.

      @@Jason_Bover9000 that's a subjective thing. If you are susceptible to rainbow effect, only choice you have is to avoid dlp projectors and look for LED based ones.

    If you make a review of something regarding picture quality, use a camera that can capture it. Pretty much useless.
