Hendrix! The greatest gift! What a guitar player! What an artist! The recorded version of Ezy Rider is a jewell in an already highly decorated crown. A perfect song.
Didn't even own a proper guitar until age 15. No formal training known. Played on the "Chitlin Circuit" starting in 1952, backing up the Isley Brothers, Little Richard and Curtis Knight. In late 1966 he was "discovered" by Chas Chandler and moved to England. By the time of this concert in 1969, Jimi Hendrix was a certified American musical genius and legendary master of the guitar. There will never be another like him.
I attended the 'Rainbow Bridge' movie debut while stoned out on dust. I really would love to see the video with this song (surfers) again. Wish I could remember the movie house it was at. As far as I can recall it was somewhere in manhatten not far from central park. Wild days indeed man. All of those playing this now 70 and older, peace out man.
Greaaaat ! In total we have 8 songs never officially released with 2 titles totally uncirculated ("Lover Man" and "Steal Away" from second show, January 1st).
Yup,Jimi was ezy rider. Everytime I saw him, whether stoned or mucho stoned, it was always a pleasure to me to see a virtuoso in action. He made 3 bucks seem like a million bucks. Can't put a price on undeniably, the most important gift to music. Peace out Larry
What an amazing version and recording of this fabulous track. I’m so jealous that my Dad saw Jimi live twice in ‘67 over here in England!! Just to really rub it in the first of those two gigs was in Spalding, Lincolnshire on May 29 1967 and this was the clearly terrible line up, 😱obviously in order of appearance with Jimi headlining: Jimi Hendrix Experience Cream Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band Pink Floyd Move Zoot Money and his Big Roll Band All for the very hefty price of £1!! 😲🤣
What a Jam!!! Loving on the Bass Groove here. I was just a few months old when this was recorded. I have very literally been listening to Hendrix my whole life. Infectious!
He said "I forgot the words I'm sorry" at the end as if everything was intentional. Even if it wasn't, he played it off real well and was still an amazing performance.
This is groovy beyond words! The remaster sounds superb and this here is only compressed YT quality! If I could travel back in time it would be either these Fillmore gigs or the Berkeley gigs.
The best version I've ever heard. I have listened to countless live versions of this song and this version has everything right. Suitable tempo, extremely nice guitar sound, no mistakes. very intimate atmosphere.
On this recording the audio is significantly better especially compared to the old existing Italian issued bootleg CD sold years ago! Waiting for my Amazon order to arrive. Waiting to hear to never before released song "Steal Away!
I had this on a crap recorded tape when i was a kid i jammed on it w a vet named Stan he said they listened to it in the jungle i loved it then and still do
As an incompleted song that was never recorded in a studio, I love Ezy Ryder and wish somebody did a cover of it. It would be so easy to take what is there and add to it and make it into a recorded song.
The part between 3:10 and 3:50 has to be one of the most incredible solos and guitar tones i ever heard in my life ! Just one question : How ? That wailing guitar at 3:46 just blows my mind and sends chills down my back ! ♥
If you can, track down the ~8 minute version of Ezy Rider version from the 'Band of Gypsys Rehearsals' album. The solo from 3:40 to 5:00 is one of his best (too bad the recording quality isn't great)

Different guitar sound for the opening riff of this live version. Ezy Ryder is the ultimate definition of a jam and Jimi is totally wired... and there is the riff stolen by Kravitz for Are You Gonna Go My Way. Most definitely yes!
Yeah man,Jimi certainly had "Stage Presence " But so did drummer/Lead Vocalist Buddy Miles & Bassist Billy Cox!! They had a little too much Stage Presence as far as JIMI was concerned, respectively.......
Just ordered Songs for Groovy Children this weekend on both CD and Vinyl from the family. Made me feel like a kid again just to know it will be in my hands soon. I felt like I ordered it from Jimi himself by skipping Walmart, Amazon etc.. I can't wait to digest this gem in its entirety. Band of Gypsy's was my favorite Hendrix album because of my love for soul, and you can hear his artistic liberation in the music.
Ahead of the times studio-wise for the 60s. But a great many compositions by Jimi were never to be duplicated in a live setting. The technology just wasn’t there. And hiring musicians to cover the parts like this one, would’ve cost a fortune in time, money, and in my opinion patience on the part of Jimi. Here are a few songs that would have needed just that. Axis Bold as Love Drifting One Rainey Wish House Burnin Down 1983 a merman I should turn to be Are you Experienced You got me Floatin Rainey day Dream away Angel Ezy Rider Electric Ladyland Ive had these vinyl Lps for years n years. •Loose Ends (import) •War Heroes (import) •Isle of Wight (import) 6 songs •Jimi Hendrix mix Lp (pinkish purple in color. His name spray painted on the cover with a Live Photo centered playing his Flying V.) • Cassette tape import from Mexico of Smash Hits with a kick ass studio take of Redhouse I will be buried with these.

Most EH releases are exploitative, money-grubbing bootleg-quality crap that only the most diehard fans can enjoy. This, however, is a true gem! It's very hard to find, and the mixing and mastering are just *superb*! The drums sound like you're sitting on the floor in front of them!
Ahhh...The serendipity of it all. I just got off the phone with my old friend, Paul "The Lobster" Wells, a legendary long time, old school, classic rock DJ, originally from the Bronx and living in San Francisco for the last forty years. As we were wrapping up our 43 minute conversation he was trying to figure out which song from Hendrix Band of Gypsys New Year's Eve 1969 shows to play on his radio show, Lobster's Sunday Brunch, 10am-3pm on 97.7 FM, The River, KVRV from Santa Rosa, California. lobsterssundaybrunch.com/about-the-show/ So I hang up, come back here to my room to check for new TH-cam videos and what do I find, Ezy Ryder from those shows, once again, the serendipity of this is not lost on me! I can't wait to hear the complete box set from those shows. Hendrix IS so amazing! Jimi would have been 77 years old coming up on November 27th.

Mick Flaire yeah Mike you one of the lucky ones I got born in 1968 and I was lucky in a sense as well because there was a lot of great music happening when I was growing up and my oldest sister was really into like the doors and Hendrix and Zepplin then my brother got into like a queen and AC/DC and maybe some Lynyrd Skynyrd all kinds of shit but I really stuck with the old-time stuff I like a little bit of stuff by the cars I think they did some cool weird shit nearly 80s and then I straight into some new wave music I guess you know a little bit of British punk but a yeah I remained an old hippie in my heart and I still lamb my house is covered with Jimi Hendrix and beetles and you know just tie-dye and Paisley I don’t even fit into this fucking century hell I can barely use this phone to send you this message but yeah Jimmy he was a good hippie at heart and as much as it breaks me to know that he died so young I think he probably got the better end of the deal I believe he’s out making music all over the universe and Soaring like a ☄️ hell he did Enough in his 27 years to last me a lifetime of his music it never gets old and it never will you take it easy brother stay safe all right and play that rock ‘n’ roll just as loud as you can as often as you can
@Carol johnson: I am so glad that you got to meet Kirk Hammett. He is an old friend from our days playing rock and roll in the East Bay of Northern California back in the late 70s and early 80s. When I come to Seattle I would like to hang out with you and have you take me to some cool sights. About 10 years ago I was hired to dress up like Jimi and play guitar and sing and walk around a special event that was set up inside the Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco My girlfriend at the time, Jamie, who's 64th birthday it is today, dressed me up and outfitted me for the event. There is a photo of me as Jimi on my Instagram page, which you can find under Sawyer.Carver.Woodworx. or under Mick Flaire. I just went to my Instagram page to actually see if I did post that photo, and as it turns out I did not, so I will post that photo on November 27th, which would have been Jimi's 77th birthday
Mick Flaire Right on man I have a channel on TH-cam it’s just my name but you’re welcome to leave your contact information underneath there and I’ll get in touch with you and then either you or I can delete it afterwards but yeah that way you can contact me just leave a comment under any of my videos and I’ll take a look for it and happy birthday to your girl and I am looking forward to Jimis birthday here in just a few weeks as well You can hit me back on here anytime but my channel is just for a few friends so that it would be easier to to get contact information spread out like that yeah I’ll take a look at your stuff when you get it up and my sons are really into music as well unfortunately my partner died he was a rock and roller to play the hell of a drums and guitar and bass and just a really talented you know Seattle rocker I miss him too but yeah my boys are both really down to music and I’m sure we’d love to show you around and take you all over the place if you whatever you like if you need a place to stay you can probably stay with my older son He lives in the downstairs of a big house out on Mercer Island it’s real close it’s kind of between where I live in Andorra downtown Seattle but he’s got an extra room and shower down there sure hit me up man like I said go to my channel it’s just Carol Johanson for original right you take it easy man I’ll talk to you again OK
This song has that it factor even if your not into it at first tho you should be it hooks you in as it goes in untill your rocking out like no ones watching to the groove
We're lucky that so much live Hendrix was so well recorded. Thanks to all those folks back then who remembered to hit the RECORD button.
Now only if they were all released.
He was a living 🙌 legend!
👍💥🎸💐💪
This wasn't just some happenstance recording of the concert. This was being professionally recorded because he contractually owed Capitol records an album, so he had THIS recorded for THAT.
Anyone who'd listen to him knew instantly he was a game changer. In such a short carreer he might have more recorded material than most top notch musicians.
Hendrix was more than a musician.... He's the music itself 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Jimi blows them all away again without even trying!
Musically he was my biggest inspiration.
Hendrix! The greatest gift! What a guitar player! What an artist! The recorded version of Ezy Rider is a jewell in an already highly decorated crown. A perfect song.
Jimi is pure fire 🔥🔥🔥🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Best guitarist forever !
Every year on September 18th I set aside one hour to play Jimi's music. I shall buy this box set and treasure it forever.
Nice tradition, I suggest you do the same on his birthday too.
Woah! Way ahead of his time! Epic!
OMG, Jimi will never stop giving his gift to us.
i think he wrote and recorded for 3 years 9 months
Didn't even own a proper guitar until age 15. No formal training known. Played on the "Chitlin Circuit" starting in 1952, backing up the Isley Brothers, Little Richard and Curtis Knight. Ezy Ryder Is A Great Song And Wonderful Masterpiece By Jimi Hendrix.
One of my favorite tunes from Cry of Love. Freedom, In From the Storm, Ezy Rider all rock so hard. This version is awesome!
Jeff Kerzner. STRAIGHT AHEAD is solid also
Yes it’s my favourite out of every song in cry of love
Ahh, Jimi! So good! Ambrosia for the ears...
Another Underrated Hendrix song
Jimi does not need words his guitar sings for him.Play on Jimi .
Greaaaat ! In total we have 8 songs never officially released with 2 titles totally uncirculated ("Lover Man" and "Steal Away" from second show, January 1st).
Yazid Manou
Salut, Yazid, comment se fait-il que ton compte YT soit désespérément vide ? 😕
when time machines are a reality I'm setting the dates & coordinates for the fillmore east & band of gypsys
That and some months back to his set at Woodstock.
I’ll be there too!
I've also thought this too
I'll set it to 24 February 69 London as well.
hihats Me too!!!
Just to really rub it in the first of those two gigs was in Spalding, Lincolnshire on May 29 1967 and this was the clearly terrible line up, 😱obviously in order of appearance with Jimi headlining:
Jimi Hendrix Experience
Cream
Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band
Pink Floyd
Move
Zoot Money and his Big Roll Band
All for the very hefty price of £1!! 😲🤣
My all-time Hendrix Favorite! Pure "Kick-Ass"Rock-n-Roll"! Out of Site, man.
One of my guitar heroes!
This version is fucking AWESOME
this is a must buy! Christmas just around the corner
Truly the best..no.one can come close to his versatility
What a Jam!!! Loving on the Bass Groove here. I was just a few months old when this was recorded. I have very literally been listening to Hendrix my whole life. Infectious!
He said "I forgot the words I'm sorry" at the end as if everything was intentional. Even if it wasn't, he played it off real well and was still an amazing performance.
Don't be sorry for forgetting the words, what we got was astounding!
Hendrix era brabo!!!!!
Blasting this on my phone at full volume while sitting in the back of a taxi cab with the windows rolled down in Times Square.
On your phone? Hardly gonna do it justice :P
@@CarlDraper at least he's listening 👍
Noice
Bet the driver tought you were a douche
Carl Draper it’s the 11... pRo
This is groovy beyond words! The remaster sounds superb and this here is only compressed YT quality! If I could travel back in time it would be either these Fillmore gigs or the Berkeley gigs.
Beautiful music
I just love it, it's as simple as that.
The best version I've ever heard. I have listened to countless live versions of this song and this version has everything right. Suitable tempo, extremely nice guitar sound, no mistakes.
very intimate atmosphere.
Sometimes it`s not eazy to find the best version of some of his songs; so thank you very much for uploading!!!
That's beautiful.
Hendrix my favorite guitarist namber one
Often imitated, but will never be duplicated.
@@jhobopopo2yo209 very good,,,

Me encanta Jimi Hendrix y Eazy Raider es de mis favoritas gracias por compartir esta versión
Wow....incredible....what a great, clear version of this great song....killer.
Fantastico amico mio è un brano divino 🙋☮️🆗👌🌹
As an incompleted song that was never recorded in a studio, I love Ezy Ryder and wish somebody did a cover of it. It would be so easy to take what is there and add to it and make it into a recorded song.
Theres a studio version on Cry of Love that sounds pretty complete
@@acidwizard3106 Yep. The studio version is incredible. Cry of Love is one hell of an album to be composed of his unfinished works.
It was recorded in the Cry of Love album
Or purchase "First Rays" it was recorded in the studio and it's fantastic.
I thought Arthur Lee (Love) covered it ?
JIMI HENDRIX WAS A COLORFUL OF BIRDS NO ONE CAN REPLACE HIM HES A LEGEND A ROCK GOD.....
Yes, from the New Album ! Great !!!!!
Héroe ..el más grande....🎸🔥♥️desde Argentina 🇦🇷✌️
Obviously this song was a work in progress at this legendary gig. Great to hear this!
The solo from 3:40 to 5:00 is one of his best (too bad the recording quality isn't great)
He had everybody wondering how keep in mind he always pretty much was a 3-piece band
Jimi Was A Part Of My Childhood Im 62, My Older Brother Had All Of Jimi's Albums, I Even Bought Him Hendrix In The West When It Was Vinyl Just an Ethereal Talent
One of my favorite songs!🙏✌💯
Yeah I'm Home 💚
Lol!! "Forgot the words, I'm sorry" at the end. I very much enjoyed that solo at the end. Was fucking sweet!👌
1 of my favorites LOVE IT! HE'S THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!! My Mentor!!!!!!!!!
That song was a wild ride, I rode the waves of rock.
Different guitar sound for the opening riff of this live version. Ezy Ryder is the ultimate definition of a jam and Jimi is totally wired... and there is the riff stolen by Kravitz for Are You Gonna Go My Way. Most definitely yes!
31th december 1969...i was alive, i could have been there but i was only 7 years old.. À little bit to young for Rock n Rollin'
This is Music From Outer Spheres!
Un genio desaparecio , es admirable como ejecutaba esa guitarra , parece que llego de otro planeta !
If they are not so already, his music will be dissected and taught in universities across the world.
I was there ... such a small, modest guy who took over the stage and raged!
Yeah man,Jimi certainly had "Stage Presence " But so did drummer/Lead Vocalist Buddy Miles & Bassist Billy Cox!! They had a little too much Stage Presence as far as JIMI was concerned, respectively.......
that liquid wah makes me drool!!
Great Kick--Ass Acid Rock tune! Must hear "Studio Version". Although, with this version U do get to hear and experience Buddy Miles!
Amazing Guy.... RIP 🌷
I enjoy this more funky sound from Hendrix :) Billy Cox and Buddy Miles gave him excellent support. This band should have lasted longer.
I agree with you, not taking anything away from Mitch Mitchell, . Hendrix find himself, and his guitar, The Transformation!
Wonderfull Music ...I love You Jimi
Some amazing performances for sure. 3 more days until the box set! Can't wait.
Unico. Irrepetible. Magico.

"Ezy Ryder"
There goes Ezy
Ezy Ryder
Ridin' down the highway of desire
He says the free wind
Takes him higher
Tryin' to find his heaven above
But he's dyin' to be loved, dyin' to be loved
He's tellin' me livin'
Is so magic
Something is forever
So he claims
He's talkin' 'bout lyin'
It's so tragic baby
But don't you worry 'bout today
We got freedom comin' our way, freedom comin' our way
How long
Do you
Think he is gonna last
Carryin' on outta gas
See all the others say
"Do what you please"
Gotta get the brothers together
And the right to be free
In a cloud of angel dust
I think I see me a freak
Hey motorcycle mama
You gonna marry me?
I'll be stone crazy
Love comin' in at you
Stone crazy baby
There goes Ezy
Ezy Ryder
Ridin' down the highway of desire
He says the free wind
Takes him higher
Tryin' to find his heaven above
But he's dyin' to be loved, dyin' to be loved
El mejor 🤟❤️

Ahhh...The serendipity of it all. I just got off the phone with my old friend, Paul "The Lobster" Wells, a legendary long time, old school, classic rock DJ, originally from the Bronx and living in San Francisco for the last forty years.
