quaterfinals world champ is where all the best matches happen. This is because they know if they get into semis they already get a bronze medal. this match alongside jorgensen vs nyugen in 2013 are reasons why we love fighter stories
liew darren on route to his bronze at World champ - Beat 2018 asean games champion Jonathan christie - Beat 2018 world number 1 Srikath kedambi - Beat 2018 thailand open champion Kanta Tsuneyama What a run. Medal well deserve
Didn't expect Liew to go this far in this championship. He is really outstanding. He deserve it. It's tough being a sportsman. 30yrs old didn't help much.
well, really thanks to thus coach who are be there for liew daren eventho daren was not belong to the BAM player's team anymore. This shows that they still care for liew daren ...
Darren’s games in this tournament need to be studied. I still consider Darren has average defence, and netting, but the control of those overheads is just something else. I hope he can keep doing what he did in this tournament for the next few years to come.
Daren likes to intercept shots within his reach. So it's suicidal to play to his game. You have to move him around with rallies, if you keep good length on the rear court shots, you can blunt his attacks and look for chances to counter any weak returns. I know a club player who plays like him, looks very impressive and difficult to play against until you figure his game out.
His gameplay is under-studied because no one expects him to reach further in the tournament. By using his experience, he applies various shots appropriately, reads the opponent game style, and knows how to control the tempo of the game. His limitation in this competition is his stamina. You can see he is totally burnt out against Momota in the semis. However, kudos to him because I think it is not easy to get a medal in BWF World Championship, standing tall against the world best like Momota, Axelsen. It is a huge achievement.
Daren liew.... for the next tournament you must be positive thinking and more confident about your presentation... dont be lost the point and must 200% focus focus focus
Leverdez is one out the hundreds, thousands or even more of top players that still plays after the age of 30. Yes, he's doing well but he can't play super series back to back like Kento Momota or the younger generations. And even if he does play back to back, his win-lost ratio isn't good. For example, Kento Momota, after he was released from his ban in 2017, he has only lost like 2 - 3 and has played in at least 10 tournaments and winning around 7 - 8 titles; including high rank super series. That being said, the younger generation will have higher stamina and strength to win more games. Once Kento reaches 30yr or so, he's gonna start play in less tournaments or barely because of age. Leverdez on the other hand, hardly have any good finals or top titles. Not saying i hate Leverdez but my main point is that he's getting old and soon reach the stage where he cant win anymore Titles.
Jordan Chai totally agree with you mate. That’s why LCW is the living legend. He achieved much more at 30-35 than anyone of his generation. He even can beat the top younger generation, such Momota at Malaysia Open, and fight match at again at Indonesia Open, given him 2-3 years stamina he will beat Momota anytime.
Fa Fo no way, lets not get carried away. As heroic as he is in this match, this tournament might be Daren's last hurrah before going down the hill. Leverdez is only one of the hundreds. They will be younger guys ready to move past Daren.
I was intially shocked when the home crowd were supporting Malaysian. It was Nanjing. Sure they are supporting anyone against Japanese. Nevertheless, it was a good effort from Liew
Yao You are right, but when I called Daren a hero, I am saying it in particular to this match. Daren fought back doggedly like a Malaysian harimau. A spirit of never say die even though injured.
number one is still Lcw . But i think Lee zii jia will replace Lcw as number one. Daren is improved but sometimes his fitness and his mental let him down.
in this tournament, ratchanok slips too, zhang slips too, although they are women, but they don't pretend like him. the injury is not serious like the way he shows out, he just wants to buy time to take rest. If you got an injury and be painful, you can not jump smash after that and suddenly forget that you got injury after the match.
C Chong well, this is a complicated one, normally Asian surname is pronounced first, and I believe Morten Forest is trying to honour that tradition. But Darren choose to use English first name...
Sorry Guys but LZJ is the better player i would say, and the guy is 10 years younger. LZJ is a future prospect that has already won the Taipei Championship in 2018 and beating the No. 4 world ranking player in the Semi's. Not to down play Darren's skills, just saying that its abit difficult for him to actually move up the rankings or further improve his game, given his age. I mean its not impossible but its just very2 difficult. But i hope he moves higher up the rankings, maybe in top 10? I believe he can do it If he chooses to fix his weakness, from analysing this game you can clearly see plenty of holes here and there.
liew daren sign this competition by himself, pay by himself, this effort is worth to learn ,never give up on badminton dream
This will go right into the history books as one of the great matches.

Finally at 31 years old, Daren has realised his potential. Better late than never. Congrats.

I really proud of liew Daren. ..... walaupun dia cedera...dia.boleh menang...😭😭
This is the most impressive game I've ever seen !!!!
Liew Darren may be erratic and not scale the heights in terms of great badminton players but his game is very exciting to watch.

Mary The Cat Yes, I think you are right. His style does look social.

if ld does the training reflected in his performance well, he can be the next lcw
The best of Darren liew, ever !
43:26 oww...unbelievable that he actually won this match considering how much pain he is in
After 4 kings of badminton there’s no legend show off anymore
Anyone else think Daren Liew's footwork, technique and play style has lots of similarities to Datuk LCW?
yes he idolize LCW that is why. also check his receiving stance.
Feel so in touch with Daren Liew

I have an advice.. Don't show the final scores on the thumbnail ._."" xD

Awesome fight
Play style of Daren Liew look like similar LCW. In future I believe Daren Liew will be more progress.
He can't, he already is past his prime now, he's 30. Not 20. And not everyone will play better beyond 30yrs old.
Leverdez has 32 years old... and he has just his best ranking this year. So, Darren has 2 or 3 years more to be in his best season.

liew is good he only need a coach with him like others player
好想有一双刘国伦那样的鞋子啊!
绝版了
Does he have sponsors to coach him?
When he was attached to bam he did not play well. Could be pressure n expectation he cant handle.
Can still beat the Japanese despite the injury. 👍
fake injury
nguyen terry he slipped is called fake injury? How about when you slip and sprint your ankle i tell you you’re just faking your injury dumb ass

Its Darren Liew not Liew Darren....duh!!!

Someone's being nosy. Not enough love at home?
@@faridmusbah8631 Chill dude, just asking
daren liew actually he can learn to play consistently.
Why did he stare at his opponent ?
I wonder what it was like for Morten Frost to have to commentate instead of being there coaching on an important MAS match.
Lincoln Fineblanket he’s not the coach anymore he retired
