What hit me the most from your video is the story won't be told. Toyota pays for tons of advertising. If any media company publishes this story, they will lose Toyota Advertising.
Plus, Toyota has an entire PR and social click farm team that will do everything to mislead and squash this.
They will find a way to blame Tesla.
The double standard clearly shows us retail investors how far skewed MM is, As if ICE is being built in any meaningful number come 10 years from now 🤣. They'd be fucked because it's slowly slowly then all at once. The pile on of "EV demand is slowing down" BS has not much longer before numbers get undeniably inverted and another era ends, bye bye ICE
@@adamkucera9094 nah, it is easier to just blame China or Russia!
Proof then that we live in a Corporate Totalitarian, don't we?
I'm disappointed as I always believed Toyota were one of the more honest car manufacturers.
lol there are no honest capitalists.
Manipulation is Japan's deep-rooted culture. You are mistaken.
Not listen what Japan says but what it does... Nuclear Water dump remember
You seem to be almost the only channel to lay out the sad state of affairs when it comes to all these corrupt automobile manufacturers. Carry on, mate.
Let's not forget about the turbo v6 issues that they've been sweeping under the mat
They seem to have messed up on the girdle design of the ne turbo V6’s. Having said that, there’s a recall on affected Turbo V6’s - thats hardly “under the mat” and is the right thing to do.
Japan Auto caught with their pants down, Diesel Gate rocked Europe and this will rock Japan.
Don’t worry automotive press funded by advertisers will protect them.
they just pay a small fine and CEOs are still raking in billions!
For Japanese-car buyers, the longevity of the cars is the most important. Consumers don't care much about this "Gate". (I guess it is going to be called Safetygate)
Pants down caught in camera still doesn't prove that some body part was inside the body part of another cooperating party.
HybridGate is NEXT.
Japanese executives’ motto has always been “there is no problem in the world that a deep long bow cannot solve”
haha
Seppuku or harakiri is more suitable.
Saving face is more important than anything else. That's why Toyota will never change.
Sounds like Toyota and Boeing are in a similar mess.
it's all about profits and shareholders, nothing about the product nor innovation!
Toyota is worse, they have been falsifying since 1989....not to discredit them for being worse than Boeing is an amazing achievement in itself
It's all about market share and keeping workers employed.
Japanese large companies don't believe in capitalism, aren't accountable to shareholders and think of themselves as country clubs e.g. sell shares to raise revenue more cheaply than a bond issuance (since dividends are lower than bond payments & are purely discretionary).
The problem is, they have done this for so long, they don't even see a problem with it. It is like talking to a Boomer who bought a house in 1970 and now thinks he is a financial genius.
Seppuku - that's it. The only way for Japanese executives to really be contrite for their unethical behaviour. But seriously it seems like the Japanese diesel-gate.
In the United States NHTSA buys a random car off the lot for crash testing. I assumed all countries did that. If not then they should.
People will not surprised if they really understand the corporate culture in Japan, those seniors in charge will not listen any advice from people underneath, young people has no right to challenge the manager, not allowed criticism from low to high, the toxic culture cost the future of Japanese manufacture dearly.
1000000÷ correct! They also refuse to take any feedback from their customers into their product development cycle. This is why their infotainment systems are 5 years behind the Koreans. Hyundai and Kia are killing it when it comes to electrification.
Again . . . 😢
And the CEO's are still getting paid millions, why ?
Because they’re all in it. Organized crime, dishonesty
Welcome to capitalism! That's how it is.
Duh.... to lie and cheat and get millions doing it.
@@monipenny408
I Was being sarcastic, but your answer doesn't answer the question, why ?
Capitalism doesn't mean inefficient & unproductive business practices. Capitalism encourages & rewards invention & competition & is incentive$ driven, not failure driven which is why they lied. I'm sure shareholders & government regulators would agree.
Wiki - Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit. Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets, price systems, private property, property rights recognition, economic freedom, profit motive, commodification, voluntary exchange, wage labor and the production of commodities. In a market economy, decision-making and investments are determined by owners of wealth, property, or ability to maneuver capital or production ability in capital and financial markets, whereas prices and the distribution of goods and services are mainly determined by competition in goods and services markets.
Because it is not CEO's faults.
Still many will come out in their defence, even though they as customers are the ones ripped off , lied to or put at risk.
That is the genius of western propaganda, no matter the lies told by U$UK regimes, ordinary people still trust these regimes!
If you take the time to read other sources, you might find that you have not been given the full story, here. As monipenny says "the genius of Western propaganda.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 Have seen this news from a number of sources now including mainstream news. You know when the Japanese Government is reacting and apologies are being made its a big deal.
@@markdev4796 It will be interesting to see how this pans out. It appears that it is only an issue in the domestic market, at this stage. What comes of that, or even if that is the full extent, remains to be seen.
Fortunately, for European and US customers, NCAP and NHTSA protocols
ensure that manufacturers can't cheat the testing process.
It's looking like that mightn't be the case in Japan, however. We will wait and see.
I would never buy a Japanese car again! Jail time?
All car safety & emissions testing/certification should be done by independent testing facilities! Mfgs have been found wanting in honesty.
People should go to jail
Imagine the narrative from the main stream media if this was Tesla.
Or if this were some Chinese brand…
They’d go absolutely nuts for weeks
Or BYD
Yeah , we won't talk about Tesla build quality will we ....lol
Of course, the irony being that the Cyber Truck has not yet been independently evaluated by a third party for crash worthiness.
Oh, dear! The Japanese car industry just keeps on giving for all the wrong reasons, By the time Toyoda et el get their heads out of their derrière's they will have missed the boat on the transition to electrification & put Japan at the top of the Has-Been list.
BYD - never interrupt the opponent when they're making mistakes
Already missed it, already too late, it's just a question of how long for them to figure it out.
Instead of saying "Toyota uncovered" perhaps you should say Toyota admitted to. 😉
Toyoda was in charge for 13 years and introduced nothing new except advertising bulldust. Then he was kicked upstairs to the Chairmanship. Sato is allegedly CEO in charge but looks like a cypher for his failed predecessor. Toyoda meanwhile will not shut up, and every time he only opens his mouth to put his foot in it. But he had 13 years to put all his yes men in place. The necessary cultural change in this company will not happen unless they get rid of all of them. I reckon it will have to get worse before anything radical is changed.
When Toyota tells a LIE -
its Customers might DIE
The twice yearly Toyota Death-A-Thon is a Bring Your Own Casket Event. A Sales marathon like no other.
Hey, Grumpy Uncle needs a car - lets buy him a Toyota, that'll fix him!
I always thought Toyota thinking EV's would not work to be rather surprising. They were very early on the market with hybrids and full EV's would be the logical next step. They probably could not make it and thought that then no one else could.
Probably because they are conservative in their approach…as well as they like their products to be durable, which EVs are not.
they threw all their eggs into the hydrogen basket
@@kallekas8551 No, it only to make sure there ICE & Hybrids keep on bringing Money to there dealership. Yes Toyota EV's are the shit!
You have no idea how powerful fossil fuel corporations really are.
@@fatdoi003 Yes, they followed W Bush Admin lead.
VW diesel gate costed them billions in fines and the whole upper management.... this is much more serious imo that they deliberate neglect people's safety and wellbeing.... multiple class actions should be just the beginning..
Nothing that money can't fix.
It took months for the VW issue to be analysed, and most people failed to understand that the problem was much broader than just VW.
If I got things right, VW were forced to finance a charging network in USA as a part of punishment for "Dieselgate", but this charging places are problematic 🤔 seems like dieselgate become chargingate. No end of the story. - And the Japanese that are going to go on with ice cars, and hydrogen cars. God Help!
It looks like it's just not the Wheels that are falling off Toyota cars.....
The directors should be prosecuted and banned from running a company for life. This is criminal behaviour.
If Tesla were found to have done something like this they would be crucified in the media. But as it is Toyota it will be kept pretty quiet by mainstream media. Why? Follow the money. Toyota spend BIG on advertising. The media don't want to miss out on all those yummy advertising dollars.
Have you seen any mention in the media that the Cyber Truck has absolutely no independent safety accreditation? No, didn't think so, but it hasn't.
If the executives and board of Toyota had the code of honour that was once widespread in Japan they would perform sepuku to atone for their dishonour.
Meanwhile I feel for the normal everyday employees who will pay the price of losing jobs because of the wrongs of the executives.
Yep, good ol days 😑
companies should not be allowed to send their "best" new models for testing. insurance testers should be buying them directly from dealers and on the used marketplace from private citizens. 1 year old cars sell much cheaper. why wouldn't that be done to get the true and real results?
*Recall, buybacks, and restitutions.* It will decimate Toyota.
Why are the Japanese car makers not financial penalized for cheating? Just a free bow and everything settled. How unfair to VW.
F*** VW
what about the customers whos lives are at risk ?
🖖🏽 from 🇩🇪 😞
Japanese cars have always been unsafe historically and now. I looked at IIHS crash tests of various cars over time. When IIHS first introduced smaller overlap frontal crash tests, almost all Toyota, Honda and other Japanese cars failed. Only some GM models in domestic passed barely. VW, Audi all failed. BMW and Mercedes passed ok. Volvo passed with flying color. A couple of years after this test was run, all Japanese and Korea brands ammended their design to pass this test. This just goes to show you they treat safety as patch work. Only fix the minimum required to pass a crash test from specific angle. To even do that, they have to cheat. Who knows how weak their car is if it's collided at slightly different angle in real world crashes.
No they have not, stop making sh.t up
for those people that have lost relatives etc who bought "fudged" data cars, i think a huge class action lawsuit should be started as peoples decisions to buy cars are based on safety standards as a factor
Social Media: "OMG, Japan is living in the year 2053, it is so advanced"
Also Japan: "Cheating since 1900s"
Toy-auto should be forced to buy back all involved cars worldwide, and compensate the owners.
And yet VW is beat up years after the fact. This despite the fact that BMW, GM, Daimler and others were doing the exact same thing. Now Toyota.
Because VW isn't in the US Congress's back pocket so it's easy. Bribery and corruption at its finest
Every affected owner is due for a payout on part of their purchase price with cars given overstated / false safety ratings as a bare minimum. Anyone injured or the family of those killed should be considering lawsuits. I don’t believe this is limited to a few models. More likely every model is affected.
Toyota are cheap thin tin cans with a bunch of plastics and loud interiors.
I've been following you for months on the Japanese reluctance to go EV. I don't know what happened to Japanese car manufacturers. I'll never buy another Japanese car. I leased a Polestar 2 and can't wait to order the P4. Thanks for talking about this
It just shows you that car companies are corrupt and will make false claims about their products. Particularly, when it comes to safety and pollution.
I’m literally shocked and disappointed that this auto mfg. would actually cheat on safety testing, I don’t trust them. Also, I thought independent labs tested, you would think that they would see the modifications.
Who is Toyota ? cheers mate
When the DOJ gets done with them (along with the class action suits), this will make the VW Dieselgate penalty look like a pittance!
only NO DOJ will
slap on the wrist and of they go to enjoy their ill gotten - STOLEN - millions
justice ? 😆😅🤣🤬
Toyota is the next Volkswagen. Fine Toyota $30 Billion.
I think a lot of vehicle manufacturing companies are overselling the quality of their products and at times use illegal means to do so. The main reason is competition and lower profit margins. There are only a few vehicle manufacturing companies worldwide that make sufficient profit to be sustainable long term.
lol It all sounds very very shifty.
Japan has to hand over its stake in Toyota to the country when it exports overseas, for the lives of the people of that country. As Japan now claims to Naver Line, and as it did to Carlos Ghosn
What, legacy auto being dishonest?
Tip of an iceberg.
We are witnessing the biggest industry shakeup in automotive history. So many automakers are ripe for disruption
the widely circulated video about car exploding 20' in the air said to be in china, was also a japanese made car, toyota RAV 4
another nail in Toyota's coffin
Well said.
Don't panic if you own one of these cars and you don't live in Japan. Toyota has only suspended domestic deliveries, not international deliveries. The "falsified" crash testing is applicable
to Japan only. If your vehicle type has been independently tested by NCAP or the NHTSB, IIHS or similar authority, you don't have anything to worry about, they're compliant with your country's
regulations. If you're in Japan... you mightn't be so thrilled, though.
but isn't he's said the test cars were individually welded and production cars were not?
@@fatdoi003 Electric Viking is the first to report that. He hasn't cited his sources, I note.
I am not aware of the Japanese domestic testing protocols. It is possible that vehicles were modified for testing in their market, although I have not seen any report where even that has been implied.
When vehicles are selected for testing by the European body, NCAP, they are selected at random from cars available in dealerships to ensure that modified vehicles have not been supplied for testing by manufacturers. The US NHTSA conduct their vehicle selection in the same way.
They take a car, at random, straight off the lot.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Electric Viking has not been entirely accurate in his reporting. Fact checking is not his forte.
Next Toyo bot. Search articles before you talk about electric viking. Toyota paused 3 models worldwide, not only Japan.
@@SamsungLGHyundaiKia Yeah, not quite a Toyo bot, but I have not been able to find that information. Could you please cite your source. Cheers.
Anyone who is invoved in fraud is desperate - they can't make money the honest way!
lol it's rigged by the un.
Color me surprised.
Not the first. Back when VW was caught playing games with the diesel engines, Toyota and Honda had lied significantly about the gas milage on their vehicles. VW almost went under, the other two only received a slap on the wrist. Remember the run-a-way engine from Toyota, several deaths. They got by saying the cause was due to the floor mats. They wouldn't let anyone else investigate their software. I guess only folks that bought Toyotas did not have the common sense to pull back a floor mat. It was the software. BTW, within the past two years RAM had a customer's truck that had a run-a-way engine, I think this took place on a Sunday. On Monday, the engineers had figured out the problem and a fix were on the way to dealers.
Toyoda is running Toyota into the ground with his attitude and reality denial. He needs to go.
Only the big shareholders can remove him.
@@eish3291 and as far as I know he's been making money for them so they won't unless it gets really bad.

The moral of the story is, Japanese cars become so successful they can get a way with any thing. The dash board on 2003-2006 RX 350 cracks, US owners got free replacement, we got bugger all in Australia. This is just one of many things they can get away here. They even managed to get our government to lower the fuel efficiency standards for Australia. This the power of big corporations!
luckily not another spontaneous acceleration
I think it looks like the Japanese government BETRAYED ITS car manufacturers.
It should checking the foreign car companies that entered Japan, such as BYD Japan, rather than checking Japanese car companies.
Your reasoning is so weird. It is about people's life. Nothing about betraying.

Here the short of it, we have a single dealer we bought our Toyotas, when we were reserving for upcoming LC300 the agent promised us an SRP, we just have to down 50% almost a year before launch, when stocks arrived they required additional 30,000USD for reservation but it won’t reflect in the documents. The reason they gave? It is what it is.
