I've always thought of that sequence pointing into the direction that he's a Viper. Vipers and Corvettes were competitors at that time and when he asks her if she digs a Corvette he sounds disappointed rather than optimistic.
I've heard he's part Corvette part Ford and park stock car. But thanks for making this! It was getting to the point where I couldn't really know for sure! Now I'm sure! Also the other day in history we were watching a documentary called America: This Is Us. And they had John Lasseter come on and he started talking about car production and he brought up the topic of Route 66 and his research without mentioning Cars the movie. I just think it's interesting out of all the films that he made he would pick cars to talk about in this documentary. Edit: it's also very interesting that his roof is 911 Carrera. Because that's what Sally is. Now we know why they love each other so much!

nice. alot of people had asked on other videos(not on this channel). what engine he was powered by. depending on the variant that mcqueen is. he will have any of these engines listed below(im an automotive nerd so give me a break. plus motortrend is great) if he was racing pure stock car. he would have this Chevy small block RO7 fuel injected or carb'd(in 2007 the first variant was carbed) for road racing he would have(as in cars 2) 427 LS7 from the C6R corvette(naturally aspirated) now in other stuff like cars race o rama. he is powered by variated LS power plants. supercharged LS3(drag or super race mode) 5.3L LS truck engine(off road) for the sports car mode. from what i know its a small block 400 FE. go ahead and correct me if i mess up
I don't know the exact model, but according to a offical statement of some sort from the creators he's supposedly got a 750HP V8 engine. I don't know what exact model, but that can possibly narrow it down a bit. Considering what we've seen in the movie for acceleration I would def say fuel injected.
It is worth noting that my Signature Cup Series Lightning McQueen Diecast has a little plate beside the car that claims a 750hp hand built engine. And a view of the engine can be seen in the radiator springs short "The origin of Radiator Springs" where stanley was going to go to california and mater traveled back in time and took mcqweens radiator cap off. That shows some detail to what it could have been. Edit: It also says "Almost 200mph and has 500lb-ft of torque at 6500 RPM"

If you think stock cars don't look interesting look at some ones for short tracks from the 2000s, namely in the rear end onwards, the rear end is actually angled and not straight, the suspension is at different heights all to accommodate the shape of the oval track.

Unpopular opinion but Mc Queen doesn’t have the roofline of a 911, As it has less of a curve which would indicate the heritage of the 356 and even the beetle which is visible in modern 911‘s. Also the C pillar of Mc Queen is parallel and dos not get wider like the Porsches. Furthermore the C1 influence is, in my opinion, just the RS-Style paintjob and whitewalls. And while I’m being picky if you are mentioning a GT40 don’t show a 2005 GT.
Just like how Porsche is making a special one off model of Sally, I wonder if a real life drivable model of Lightning McQueen would be made in the future.

NASCAR race cars are basically a skeleton car frame with metal sheeting on top and at the time McQueen is consider a faster car because of its lighter frame when compared to king super bird and chick
Actually if Chick had started racing after 1971 in Cup or NASCAR early Bush that is now Xfinity, The cars had to be a car frame with sheeting on them to a template each model every manufacture had based more off the model that entire brand was trying to sell. It was not until gen 2 in the 1982 that the cars changed away from stock look to a more strict set of rules looking less. Then changed 3 more times after before Gen 5 became the first Nex Gen car.

I mean Chaparral used Corvette V8 motors, so that could be another reason why McQueen said "Corvette" .... But Pixar and Disney creators are the only people who know lol 😂

After 38 years of studying and researching I have finally come to the conclusion that the hit movie star, Lightning McQueen, is indeed, a car.
He’s a mix of a corvette and a viper 👌🏼
McQueen is literally a Gen2 1999 Dodge Viper, V8 Hemi swapped for NASCAR. You can't even deny it because that's what he looks like, he even dawns the Iconic Viper red. End of story.
For me he was always a short version of Viper SRT10
