Two things that confuse me. One: if when racing on the simulator one of Jackson's teammates raced a faster time than him then why wasn't that racer in the Piston cup? Two: this backstory answers a lot but it doesn't explain why Jackson was such a jerk to Lightning. He wasn't just super cocky and full of himself, he had genuine disdain for Lightning and there's never an explanation why.
He's the Cars equivalent of Kylian Mbappe. Lightning would be Lionel Messi, Chick Hick would be Cristiano Ronaldo, Cal Weather would be Harry Kane and Strip Weather would be Ronaldinho.

actually prime lighting mqueens real top speed is 250mp easily beating storm but mqueen could easily get restored to his original state from cars 1 because mqueen didn’t swap any actual engine parts so his engine probably wasn’t running at 100% anymore and his frame is probably pretty rusty on the underside and 2006 to 2017 is 11 years so imagine how much wear and tear his engine got in that time span even though he got probably got his oil changed and stuff it probably wasn’t enough so after awhile his engine performance dropped dramatically because it wasn’t being taken care of properly
