McDavid relies on his speed a lot more for goals than Ovechkin does with his shot. Speed is the first thing to diminish as you age. Odds are against McDavid ever scoring more career goals than Ovechkin. McDavid is currently 522 goals behind Ovechkin.

He’s not the type of player who’s gonna score 50 every year. He’s always been more of a playmaker. He did score 60 last year but I don’t see that being the norm.
Before McDavid's career started he needed to average 45 goals per season to get to 900 goals. His first 7 seasons he failed to hit 45 goals. Then he has 1 season with 64 goals at age 27 and all of a sudden this guy thinks he will average 50 for the next 12 years? I wouldn't count on it. I do think he has a shot at 2000 points though. No guarantee on that though.
I don’t know cause he’s had a similar career to sid it’s only a matter of time til someone catches McDavid out of focus and takes a dirty hit. McDavid would need a 200 point season in my mind to beat the goal record

Plus ovechkins mom was a professional basketball player or something. Maybe genetics But I just think Russia has pretty good gear that is hard to detect.
