Nice video. Yeah, I'm 73 years old, so, most of those car I know. The memories . Love to see those cars back on the road. Those were the easy days. Things change unfortunately. Keep video's coming. Thanks.
My dad would be 73. We lost him a couple of years ago. I think about him often while I'm out filming. I started my channel last summer because I enjoyed going and seeing these places so much. I know he would have loved to have gone along with me. Things have changed way too much unfortunately. I sometimes think I was born in the wrong time! Thank you for the comment. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos!
I had someone request that I include odometer readings when I film cars. I try to remember to do that as much as possible. Glad you enjoyed the video and I really appreciate the comment!
Thank you! It takes quite a bit of time to find the exact make and model of the car and then match up advertisements. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the comment!
Great vid!! have not seen a Jeep pickup in the wild in a while like the one in back ground at 104. 1330 ford pickup. Willys wagon 2131if the front clip would have been complete you probably would have figured it out to be jeep of some kind. It is so great to see your kids interest in this. Somebody had a sense of humor International pickup with John Deere colors!!
I really didn't pay attention to that being John Deere Green. LOL I saw an elderly man the other day in a power chair painted in John Deere Green and yellow. He even had some decals!
Thank you very much! It was really awesome to see so many classics in one place. Definitely wouldn't expect to find that many in a self-service junkyard!
Hello folks, love the video. I live in south bend indiana. The old cars rusted to pieces around here. I think I'd like to fix up the Vega. It'd be a neat project. Keep up the good work . Thanks 😊👍
It was a pretty awesome place! I will have to look around and see if I can find more. I found that one just by chance, I was there to buy parts for cars I was working on.
One trick to tell the year, if the trail lights are there, look at the lens. It has the year. Oldsmobile guy here. Looking to see if any 1964 Cutlass was there. I see one at 18:25 on your zoom. I have a convertible my father bought in 1966. Enjoyed the vid!
I always forget about checking the tail lights! Are you needing any parts for your Cutlass? I have a 69 mustang but it is a project car will probably be several years before I can get it going.
loved the videos and the day tris ..by the way ... that old cadillic if you go to the drivers side tail light and push in on the small reflector it will open the tail light to fill it up with gas a lot of the 50s chevs are like that thanks again
Agree on the 64 Rambler Speedometer never seen a car that I can remember with the single large number? Hmm .... kinda cool "no way was I going 70 officer maybe 7 but not 70". 😊
My 1st new car was a 1973 Vega GT. Great looking little car, but a lemon nonetheless. Red, with black stripes and interior. Cost $2500 new. Sold it for $0 in 1983. Great junkyard video! I could watch these all day long!
I heard that they weren't good cars. I remember looking at one and my dad told me that I did not want it! But to be honest with you I really did. LOL I found those cars in the junkyard by chance. I went there to get parts for other vehicles and couldn't believe how many classic cars they had there.
Chevy Vega was designed with a 4 cylinder 140 cubic inch aluminum engine. 1 bbl carb standard. GT model had a 2 bbl carb. Pistons and rings were cast steel which wore out the aluminum cylinder walls after 40k miles and it would start to smoke like a mosquito fogger truck in July! GM issued a recall finally and they would replace your bad engine free but with the same faulty engine block. Some guys would cut out the fender wells and drop a small block 350 V8 in them. Instant drag strip sensation! Until the drive train came apart anyway! lol Hot Rod mag had its share of modified Vegas in the 70’s. Ford had its Pinto, AMC had its Gremlin, and Chevy had its Vega. I chose poorly. Even worse is that I sold my Red 64 Ford Fairlane 260-V8 to buy the Vega. All my Ford needed was a $400 engine rebuild. Hindsight is a cruel teacher for sure. 🙄
i ran a 327/4 speed in my 72 vega, and i didnt have to cut anything a little hammering on the firewall, and it slipped right in..I drove that car for 12 years, sold it in 89, for $2500..😊
Black mystery Ford was a 1958 model. I always preferred the 1957 Ford design which you also featured. Yards like this one are very rare here in SoCal. Jerry
Thanks for the info! I have never been in a junkyard like that before. I went there to get a few miscellaneous parts for a couple of vehicles I'm working on and was blown away by the amount of classic cars!
Hello there fellow YT Explorers 👋 Really cool finds i just came across your channel from YT Analytics for content that suggests my videos. Definitely be watching More from you.
I couldn't imagine a record player in a car. LOL can you imagine how much skipping it would do. Especially on the roads around here. Glad you like the video!
That's what i love about old cars they are look different and you could tell the model and year just by looking at many of them unlike cars today they all have the same look and who knows what year they are. Classics are so much better in my opinion. I have never owned a newer car the newest car that I have owned was a 1989 Caprice Classic it was a ex police car and that is the newest can that I have ever owned.
Right away at the beginning...that Maverick...INSTANT high school flashback. Classmate had a white one. Then..."UHOH!" LOL! That 1980 Mustang. Another classmate had one of those. BUT...Not exactly "responsible" with it. One day in Anchorage, AK. he tried to go around a 20 MPH curve at 80. He didn't make it. End result: Guy wire basically cut the motor mount on one side, took out half of a row of trees and a fence before ending up coming to rest in their front yard. Everyone walked away from the thing but hindsight being 20/20 on a subsequent visit...Well, let's just say there was LOTS of eye-rolling and the most common question was, "KIDDING, RIGHT??????"
Sounds like they were lucky to be alive! And I always wanted a Maverick. I saw one when I was a kid and loved the body lines and styling. Do you still live in alaska? I've never been there but have been curious about what it is like. Might have to drive up there one day!
@@whatsaroundthebend Nope, but it's recommended to everyone. LOL! Ironically, I go from the interior there (Fairbanks area - coldest metro area in U.S.) to Walla Walla, WA which is statistically one of the hotspots on the planet during summer. Seen -72F there and +129.8F here. Go figure.
It's just a 2004 Town car. I bought it cheap and put an engine in it. It jumped time and broke the rocker arms off the left side of the engine. It's a nice car it only had 120,000 miles on it.
There is a lot I could comment about the cars since I've been around all of them. I will say you are right about the trunk dcks on those cars. The 59.& 60 Belair/Impala lids in good condition are very hard to find. An easy way to tell if it's a Belair or Impala is the taillights for 1960: the Impala has 3 lights/side and the Belair has 2/side; like the one you found.
Thanks for the info! Yeah I'm finding out that a lot of the old cars share the same body. They just changed the name of the car with different option packages. There's definitely a lot of rare parts in that yard!
My uncle has a mint all original 1960 Chevy Bel Air with 3 on the tree it's a nice car he lets me use it in the summer and I will load everyone up and go to the Drive In to watch a movie or go for Ice Cream in it
That's awesome! There's nothing like driving around a classic car. I had a friend that lived in Las Vegas that would let me drive his 57 Bel Air up and down the strip. Everybody was taking pictures!
There is a Yard in Great Bend Kansas called Nobody's Auto Recycling and the owners name is Chad he is a good guy and he has a big yard of good stuff he has about 3000 cars and trucks and getting new inventory all the time
Sad to see all those cars long forgotten. Where is this place at? What state. I used to work reupholstering cars, helicopters, whatever. I can make the interior of one brand new in a week.
To tell if a car has original miles or a hundred thousand.. Look at the right side of the brake pedal. If it is real well worn. It's a hundred thousand. If it is not,it's the car's original miles.
On the Mercury Monteray no one pointed out the one thing that car had that no others had. THE REAR WINDOW GOES DOWN ! Note the way the top of the window slants backwards. It's a give away.
Back in the 50's and 60's the factories would use lead to hide body seams and such so if if you see body filler like that 59 Wagon had it was done by someone later because they would of used lead
That's absolutely true! I had forgotten about that. I remember working on a 67 mustang and where the roof pillar attaches to the quarter panel is all lead.
It was very complete and very solid! I wonder what they would sell the whole car for. I will be going back there sometime in the next week and I will ask.
Man I hate how old cars end up going from a Brand New car loved by their new owner and full of kids to sitting in a junk yard waiting to see what is going to be ripped off of it
Yep! Me too. I was thinking about that while I was walking around there. Someone was proud of each one of those cars at some point. There's no telling how many family vacations all those old cars had been on. If you keep them long enough they kind of become like family. LOL
only YOU, can stop this!!.. From thia day dorward- DO NOT sell any car you own. keep the all.. never get rid of them, because- in 25-30 years, you will be guilty of " sending old cars to a junk yard...
Covair where not that bad of car . If you took care of them they not leave you at the side of the road. It's not like 55 years on that all the faults are not know about . You can still get all the parts for them. Ralph Nader whom made himself a big shot via Covair unsafe at any speed turn out to be BS . Neat junk yard walk through.
I really don't know much about them. I just remember a friend of mine's dad said that they weren't any good. I think he had bad luck with his, but who knows what that car had been through before he got it. I always thought they were pretty neat looking.
I almost had a 79 Ford ltd station wagon almost all original with the wood panel look the owners RV was broke down supposedly and he was trying to sell the car I didn't have any money at the time suddenly, he was interested in (trading the car for my 94 suburban)......the guy was supposed to be selling the car fix his RV I'm still kind of kicking my self in the butt for not getting it it ran drove great
I hear you! Those cars are absolutely massive. My dad had one when I was a kid and so did my great granddaddy. I drove one in my late teens as well. It was very quiet and floated over any bumps.
I absolutely Love ya all s enthusiasm, for old cars. But,, SON !!.. Hit some books, internet- Anything!! and educate yourself on identifying car makes !!...
Faith's not my daughter. LOL I understand passing it up. We are trying to change our thumbnails for a different look and trying to get more views. TH-cam just hasn't been promoting my videos as much lately. But hopefully changing up the thumbnails will help us get more clicks!
Lol. Am I supposed to leave them at home? Or not let them be a part of my videos with cars in them? Girls like classic cars too! One of them installed a lighting control module in a town car this week. And the other one has been under dozens of cars with me assisting me while I put in engines and transmissions. It's not like they're posing on the cars in bikinis. But you are right girls do get clicks. My channel, with as much work as we put into it, cannot compete with a 30 second clip of a girl in a bikini. It is definitely frustrating but that's the way the world works!
He was looking at a 54 Chevrolet can a 53 Chevrolet can they had six cyl on both of just having six cylinders Chevrolet didn't have V8 until 55 and up Ford's head v8s from the mid-40s up
Old cars are wonderful to have but towing, repairs , maintenance, auto insurance, license plates and registration gasoline costs ,finding parking, make them not so much fun anymore
We had a great time filming these cars for you!! Be sure to go to our channel and check out other exploration videos and classic car finds!
I grew up with all those cars. Thanks for a great video
You are welcome! It was a lot of fun filming them for y'all.

I love old electronics too it's like a glimpse of the past the way things used to be I would take those photos too 😊
Me too. I have a TV from the 1960s. I have an old Atari as well.
Love old junkyards.
The best part of your video's is you show some odometer readings, it gives a glimpse of the cars history.
I had someone request that I include odometer readings when I film cars. I try to remember to do that as much as possible. Glad you enjoyed the video and I really appreciate the comment!
Thanks for putting the information ads on the cars !

I love the color of that car too

Thank you! It takes quite a bit of time to find the exact make and model of the car and then match up advertisements. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the comment!
very cool love them old cars
Me too! I was so surprised to see so many classic cars at a junkyard like that!
We love your videos, me and the kids. ❤
That's awesome! Thanks a bunch.
This is an example of Vitgil Exener's forward look designs that went from 1955 to 1962. I personally dig that spaceship style dash.
Love.
The video guys keep it going.Thank you
Well thank you very much! I'm glad you are enjoying the video. Many more to come!

Well done ! Gold mine for cars & parts !
I definitely wasn't expecting to find all those in a self-service junkyard!
Sweet !!
Thank you!
Alot of nice derby cars 🤟 and faith is hot AF 🔥
Great video !
Thank you very much! It was a lot of fun seeing all those cars!
I love the advertisements you included. It must take a long time to find them all!
Thanks a lot! It does take me many hours searching and editing to put these videos together.
I lo the way the Monterey sedans are designed they are so unique especially with the electric back window
I didn't realize the back window went down until I was reading the comments here today. The styling of the car was awesome!
very nice❤
Thank you!
Would LOVE- to buy that 75 vega !!
Hello folks, love the video. I live in south bend indiana. The old cars rusted to pieces around here. I think I'd like to fix up the Vega. It'd be a neat project. Keep up the good work . Thanks 😊👍
That Vega was very solid and straight. Definitely deserves to be saved. I hope someone will get the whole car and not cut pieces off of it.
Wow lots of complete cars more like a storage lot in 50s 80s. Are there other yards keep looking 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
It was a pretty awesome place! I will have to look around and see if I can find more. I found that one just by chance, I was there to buy parts for cars I was working on.
YAWL LOOKING GOOD OUT THERE!
Thank you very much! 😁
1970 Chevy I love that grill
Thanks you for that video I am going to try to get out there I am in Atlanta I need some parts for a 1946 you all have a good afternoon
You are welcome! What parts are you needing? I will be heading back out there next week to get some parts for a Lincoln I'm working on.
You guys are amazing! There is something on your channel for everyone! I love the videos!
We try to include a little bit of everything. We love the small towns very much! Will definitely be having more coming soon.

Wow this ltd is still mostly complete 😮 some one needs to be rescued from this junk yard
Where is this amazing grave yard of amazing craftsmanship
It's located in Pawnee City Nebraska. It was pretty awesome!
Agree on the 64 Rambler Speedometer never seen a car that I can remember with the single large number? Hmm .... kinda cool "no way was I going 70 officer maybe 7 but not 70". 😊
It was definitely different! I figured that you just had to multiply each number by 10. Definitely didn't catch on! LOL

Loved the Walk Around Mates wonder if that ol chev had a record player it was a option on high priced cars
I couldn't imagine a record player in a car. LOL can you imagine how much skipping it would do. Especially on the roads around here. Glad you like the video!
The 57 Ford that had the motor in it was a Yblock I would say a 292.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah it's really surprising that every year they had minor changes. Not like today's cars that go for many years unchanged completely.

The Corvair’s weren’t that bad, no worse than the VW’s, they had a very similar lineup back in the day.

That car is a 54 Chevrolet The one that's got the straight 6 in it there that you're looking at says power glide on it
Thanks for the info! I'm getting better at dating them, but I still have a lot to learn.
Again the old mercury grand marquis is mostly complete it needs to be rescued too
It was very complete and very solid! I wonder what they would sell the whole car for. I will be going back there sometime in the next week and I will ask.
Ok cool I'm curious myself
Shag carpet. 58. Net. Car. 57. 59. Station wagon. Ford
The older red truck was a 1950''s or Early 60's Ford f-100 I think 🤔
Another commenter said he believed it was a 58 model.
That 66 two door Ford with the 428 is rare.. Hint a way to tell the 50'scars..if they have 4 headlamps they are 58's or newer...in most cases.
Thanks for the tip! I bet that 66 would be worth a lot. I was surprised when I looked it up and realized that it was a 428!

I was there that day to get a door hinge for my Honda van. And I was looking for a couple of interior trim pieces for my 04 Town car.

It's amazing how they changed things from year to year. Car companies really don't do that anymore.
That was part of a record player not a radio
I realize that when I was editing the video. My mother also noticed and pointed it out to me.

Faith's not my daughter. LOL I understand passing it up. We are trying to change our thumbnails for a different look and trying to get more views. TH-cam just hasn't been promoting my videos as much lately. But hopefully changing up the thumbnails will help us get more clicks!

cmon 2 little honeys talking about old cars?really?we get it,cute girls sell stuff and vids for sure!!!
@@whatsaroundthebend i hear you and yes girls bring views for sure!!!
