I would like to dedicate this track to James Earl Jones, who only two hours ago has just passed away at the age of 93. He had a full life, and a rewarding career, and his best role in my view was always the voice role of Mufasa, he was a character who in many ways was a lot like Jones - a very warm, fatherly, and fierce warrior and a noble king. As an actor starting out, Jones was one who didn't let the challenges of segregation forbid him from joining the ranks of Hollywood extras in the 1960s before eventually making a name for himself. And he had that fatherly quality to his voice and Mufasa as a character really embodies that as he was a loving parent who wanted to see his son take his rightful place as King before being horrifically murdered by his brother Scar. Eventually, years later when Simba is a young adult, he discovers his father's spirit in the Wilderness who gives him the iconic scene this very soundtrack is named after! What I remember most was how powerful it feels every time I watchit, it is a very spiritual moment, and can be interpreted anyway, and yet the iconic line I will always remember is "You are more than what you have become." It is so powerful, it got me through some of the darkest times in my life, two years ago, I was dealing with anxiety and existential dread from post-quarentine recovery, and one of the films I revisited during that time was The Lion King (1994) and finally hearing that line clear as day for what felt like the first time, what it meant to me is that I am more than just drop-out, that I am capable of pursuing my dreams of being an artist. Now here I am, under the cool Virginia sky typing this out, feeling an immense sorrow I have not felt since perhaps the death of Stan Lee. Rest in Peace James Earl Jones. Thanks for adding meaning to my life, and entertaining us all. Your presence on screen and our planet will forever be remembered! 💜
"Look inside yourself Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. Remember who you are". If you are not moved by this score then you are wrong. This is the most beautiful thing to come out of Walt Disney Studios.
+PartyAnimal16 ™ EDCP Really?? I mean really? I mean no offense but how could you bring a mediocre TV series into a discussion of one of the greatest films?
This score piece would have been flawless if it hadn't been for that damn Pumbaa snort in the beginning. Oh well, this is still my favorite piece of instrumentals of all time :)
I understand that the soundtrack is all supposed to link with each other, but it still kinda blows that they couldn't have kept the snort in the last track.
I love this music. It sounds so peaceful and quiet. 5:25 thru 6:31 is the best part. My favorite scene in all of Lion King is the scene with Mufasa's ghost. It's so powerful and full of emotion!

Agreed... also when Simba chases after the cloud yelling, "Please don't leave me..Father! Don't leave me!" so emotional :'(
I was moved tremendously when I heard this. It was so much that I felt tears coming out of my eyes.

I found it, because it is a chorus of the beautiful song called "Lala". lionking.wikia.com/wiki/Lala
Maisha TLK oh yes of course. That's the equivalent of Endless Night in the broadway show.
