The Z8 is great in so many ways but could never serve as my main camera because the vertical grip and controls of my Z9 are indispensable for me. I don’t mind the extra bulk and weight at all. As a second companion to a Z9 the Z8 would be ideal as it functions nearly identically. But for this purpose I have a Zf which also functions as a “walkaround” street camera.
Used to be a Canon shooter R5 r6 24 1.4 50 1.2... switched to Nikon for the Z8 + Zf as second body Fell in love with that 50 1.2S (not so much with the 24 1.8) although being huge and heavy, but the handling of the Z8 compare to the R5 is just better for my hands. And the ZF perfect for my daily/street/travel camera (Viltrox 20mm 2.8 + 40mm 2.0 my light combo)

Same. Being primarily a portrait guy, I’m very much an integrated grip person
