I actually can't wait to go back to Greece after lockdown here in Australia. Greek people have go to be a very strong and prided culture of people. Direct and down to earth no bullshit aside. They tell you what they think, they are happy to help you, they are hospitable, they do not care who you are, you are always welcome. The children of most Greek people are mature and respectful of elderly people, help their neighbors like no tomorrow. The Greeks are also very intelligent, I mean the foundations of mathematics and science comes from there. They are all about family and helping each other. Thats why even though they had an economic crisis, they survive, because they know how! I love the Greeks they are by far my favourite people and I have visited over 80 countries.
I come from East Asia. A lot of people in where I come from often misunderstand that all westerners are highly individualistic rather than collective, well, they are absolutely wrong. Love the Greek culture especially the emphasis on family 🥰
@@Siomn779nil thank you. This video well summarizes that although Greeks are the founders of Western Civilization, they are not culturally the same to those as Western Europe. Western Europe imitates Ancient Greek things like Democracy and science but this does not mean they have the same set of values and social customs.
I’m using this video for insight because I have a Greek OC I want to develop more, and it’s surprisingly that I’ve already given him some of these cultural attributes! This helped a lot and was a great video, Thank You. ❤️

Here in Brazil the great hospitality with foreign is also present in our culture. But brazilian usually don't dose this hospitality, so there are an "overdosed" hospitality, what implies that people here let the countrymen aside to be gentle with foreign
A well put together video. I laughed loudly when you mentioned that the other European countries (like the Nordics) are more concerned with improving everyone's quality of life instead of being the best at something. I saw that too in my time abroad in Europe and in my country, we tend to obviously or covertly compete. Again... I see parallels to Philippine culture. Probably since the Philippines was heavily influenced by Spain but then again, it seems that even the "less Western influenced" countries display many of these characteristics to varying degrees. It seems that in general, the warmer and sunnier countries are more "dramatic" and have more layers in expression as individuals and as a society collectively than those in colder and less sunny ones.
That's really interesting because some things are sooo similar to Taiwanese culture. I think Taiwan might even be a bit more higher context culture in some cases. I have some Greek friends and there are some things that they do tell me, even if it's very indirectly that in Taiwan we would just not say and pretend they don't exist. But also some things are soooo different here like here success is everything! And many Taiwanese cannot drink alcohol lol.
Actually the greek collectivism expands only to:my family,my village,my political partie and my football team, they are highly individualistic beyond them.
you never mentioned one Greek person what you are presenting obviously, someone else is expressing the culture, Why you don't express Macedonian Culture, Greek culture is from 1832 AD when was Created. I laked the presentation, You are talking Like Greece is having no other Ethnicity like pure Greeks, democracy, racism. I'm You love your people I love macedonians to since is 3/4 ethnicity, and you are looking with blind eye.
This is not a respectable view of the Greek culture that is based on Anthropolical principles. I have a more complete analysis of the Greek culture but where does one present it for public exposure?
Greek was a religious name for the members of the Orthodox Church. They were never a nation! After osmanic cadastral registers from the XV-XVI century, more than 95% of the population was Albanian and less than 5% Helens in Greece. After Illyad the language of Gods was Gheg, Nord Albanian Dialect. (Herodotus) The works of the great poet, Homer, are filled with words that not only survive in Albanian, but continue to be used. From Homer you can get not only words, but also phrases that possess all the signs of a typical Albanian expression. If someone were to interpret Homer from the Albanian language perspective, much light would be shed on the works of that famous poet. Between Homeric and Albanian sentences there is a striking resemblance in expression, phraseology and sentence structure. A study of this nature would help interpret Homer, since the Albanian language is older than that of Greece (Science Magazine 2023), much can be learned about the influence of this [Albanian] on Homeric and later Greek. Listing the dimensions of sociological analysis and where Greek society falls in comparison to other cultures is not a video about Greek culture. Anyway, sociology is junk science. To understand a culture you need to delve deep into the fabric of a society instead of looking at separate pieces or diminsions as in this video. To understand Greek culture you need to see how it has developed from its roots in Classical Greece, through Byzantium christianity, Ottoman slavery, independence. As well as this immersing yourself into a culture is the only way to really understand a culture.
@@occihum9115 On the contrary you need to know what has shaped and influenced a group of people to really understand the culture. You cannot understand a culture by looking at several linear dimensions. You need to understand the underlying stories of the culture to know why people behave they do. You need to understand the structure of their society and their family structures. and how they have evolved. Ignoring things like Orthodoxy, historical events and things like island and sea culture leaves you with an empty shell of understanding.
@@georgechristoforou991 Explaining *why* people behave like they do and *how* actually behave are two different analysis. You don't need the "why" answer to answer to "how" question, simple. Also, you just complaining about bl**t while you don't touch the actual content of the video which is true
@@occihum9115 If you go by a statistical analysis of levels of various sociological factors explains very little. Such an analysis has close to zero predictive value. There are no shortcuts to understanding a culture. Most of sociology is junk "science". Societies have a hierarchy of belief systems that help determine behaviour and thought.
