Great to see the series return! Also, apeofjustice was a really great cohost for this one; very clear, good banter, and good descriptions. I hope he's able to play more games with the channel!
Damn. Was really rooting for the Eldar here. I saw your video where you painted the Eldar start collecting and it inspired me to start my own Eldar army (pretty much copying your colour scheme). It only consists of the Start Collecting box, one guardian squad and a tank. But I do love those Eldar. Still, shame they lost but well done to the Orks
Fantastic to see the return of the Deathmatch series, love how chaotic and bite-sized they are! Kind of inspires me to start getting my armies together to give it a go!
I have to say that the cinematography and format of this battle report is the most entertaining. The fact that you guys get into the scene with angles and edit the sound to be audible makes this so much more engaging.
For future matches, i think a separate dice tray/mat might work better for rolls (maybe display the rolls in a smaller pop out window), just because i noticed a lot of dice getting stuck on models and/or the uneven ground.
Instant sub, I love these smaller games. Me and few friends I've gotten into the hobby are doing something similar starting with a combat patrol and building our armies to 750pts. Can't wait to see the next round of quarter finals!
Thank you for continuing this series. New format is good. Hopefully many thing are learned for the next tournament series so there is less drought between matches. Love to see new guests on the channel. Hopefully we see more Eldar painted from the pile of shame. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
After 2 years of learning the lore and watching battle reports, I’m just starting to look into assembling and painting minis. This is my first stop for learning tips and tricks - however, I’ll still have such a love for these deathmatch videos even after the champion is decided. Would love to see them more regularly, but it’s been worth the wait to see them all painted so beautifully.
New to the game, this was great to watch! First one of these I've seen in the series but will be watching the previous ones for sure. You both, especially James, explained your moves and what you were doing very well in a way that was easy to keep up with. There's a ton of great "start 40k" content on youtube but most of them are Space Marines vs Tyranids lol and feels like they'll explain something once and never again in the video. I appreciate certain concepts getting reiterated simply and straightforwardly. These being only 500 points make them very easy to keep up with and digest too, and the models look great so it's a good watch. Cheers to you good sirs.
every single deathmatch vid makes me want to give learning 40k rules another shot and dust of my little orc army. it looks so simple when you know what to do :D
Really glad to see this series back, and I hope you can see this through to the end in the near future. Keep up the quality content, Guy, I think those orks are looking like a real contender for the final match if not winning the tournament altogether! Cheers on your victory!
Very good video. I’m not much for watching battle reports. Most just race through everything and use lots of jargon. You allowed me to actually follow along. Well done.
These are probably some of the best battle reports on TH-cam. I only wish they leaned into the idea of this being a tournament for some sort of sport. It makes no sense in lore, I just think it would be funny to have crowds cheering in the background and hear some people doing impressions of sports announcers.
Sooooo good to see this again, love it. Guy, every time you attack with the 'Urty syringe, you have to say: "Hold still and say aaahhh" (for D6 mortal against infantry). 😀
Gonna get into 40k with 500 points and these rules seem really fun to start out with. Def gonna use them in the future. Also might steal ur ork list Guy lol
Great video, I thought from the beginning that the Eldar won't stand a chance as soon as the orks get into melee. Also, I play a ton of Killteam and Warcry myself and alternating activations are just the superior way to play the game imho. This way, there is a constant back-and-forth and everyone stays engaged. "Normal" Warhammer feels so clunky and slow in comparison....
So excited to see the tournament continued! Still a little salty there's no Grey Knights in it though... :) Guy had some wicked luck rolling today, but that Eldar Turn 4 was great to see!
Amazing battle report! Usually I leave them in the background an only listen to the jokes because I can not follow the action....but this small games are great and I actually watched and cheered the whole time because I could follow the game. Guy, you had too many good rolls that you almost should be ashamed :)
These videos inspired me to start doing something similar but with 3rd edition 40k and in double the scale of miniatures...and with army lists of 250pts. This meant that there are armies that cannot be used, usually because it was impossible to include the compulsory HQ and two Troops choices within a list that small and led to insane lists like an Avatar supported by two 5 person squads of aspect warriors. I had to say, there is something very fun in super small lists...but also in upscaing 3d print proxies to something similar to the old GW game Inquisitor...so much so my gaming group is going to have another crack at that.
1. Happy this sieres FINALLY continues 2. Not know about orks enough, but are thier pistoles assault weapons in a waaagh? 3. Also not sure on this, but even if its a vehicle, can you shoot at it from outside of engagement range wile it IS engaged with another unit? 4. Can someone count just HOW MANY 5s and 6s Guy rolled? it feels like more the 50% of his rolls were 5+.
I've never seen an Eldar list *on a table* that had zero Guardians before lol. Back when I played regularly I was a Craftworld player and even playing, I forget which craftworld that gets to take extra rangers I still don't think I ever had less than 10 Guardians per 500 points
Not surprised at the result. Neverthelesss, you guys look like you have more fun playing 40k than I ever normally do (so I happen to understand a lot if someone gives up this hobby)
Thanks for having me on the channel Guy! This was a blast to film and meet you all in the studio.
Any relation to the Ape of Death?

I’m sure you’ll make a great addition to the channel, James!
Yeah I loved it
Hey I know this guy! Beautiful Eldar army as ever!
"Babe, wake up! MWM posted a continuation to the start collecting deathmatch!"
"Honey, it's 11:00pm..."
Very glad to see this back. I just want to see it get to the finish and determine the Midwinter Winner!
Me too! It's one of my favourite things to make on the channel :)
You meant Midwinner winniatures?
Guy's dice must be blessed by Gork 'n Mork themselves!
That hit roll with the Nobz' sluggas was a 0.9% chance. Yes I worked it out, haha
Goated pfp
@samjones677 thanks, one of my IRL friends made it especially for me!
Damn, felt like some real unlucky rolling from the Eldar. GG!
I think they left their flamer fuel at home
Lore accurate
27:56 "Eight inches is plenty to work with.", said the Eldar Farseer. Love the energy! Great co-host. :D
Love the pearly paint effect on those Wraithguards/lord
Great to see the series return! Also, apeofjustice was a really great cohost for this one; very clear, good banter, and good descriptions. I hope he's able to play more games with the channel!
Absolutely! What a hero he was
I look forward to the Finale of the start collecting deathmatch at the end of 11th edition to celebrate me completing my dark mech army
11th? That's ambitious, haha
Finally the series continues!
So excited for this series.

It only consists of the Start Collecting box, one guardian squad and a tank. But I do love those Eldar. Still, shame they lost but well done to the Orks
tbf the Farseer managed to wipe out the Nobz and they killed da Deff Dread. So they went out swinging if nothing else!
The sleeper has awoken (to discover this excellent series has resumed)
The hands down best Warhammer Channel out there, and I was so happy that (the faction I was rooting for) won! Keep up the good work MWM!!
Thanks so much! Would you mind editing your comment to remove the winner to keep spoilers away please!
Apologies sorry!
YES I've been waiting for this series to continue. I'll have to rewatch some now!
The music at the start fills me with more joy than you could ever imagine.
Thank you, Guy, thank you for bringing it back!
This is my first time seeing an actual Warhammer game and I love it
I’m so excited for the death match to be back!! Glad to see you found a workaround for the annoying start collecting shenanigans :))
I love these videos! The fact that you update the board with battle damage and gore is just so good. (Chef’s kiss)
For future matches, i think a separate dice tray/mat might work better for rolls (maybe display the rolls in a smaller pop out window), just because i noticed a lot of dice getting stuck on models and/or the uneven ground.
Those cyan dice are really nice looking. Kinda ethereal looking
It continues! Great first match with the rules/army upgrades.
Havent seen this series before gotta say I LOVE that combat outcomes effect the table, great environmental storytelling! Also we done Boyz, WAAAGHH!
Instant sub, I love these smaller games. Me and few friends I've gotten into the hobby are doing something similar starting with a combat patrol and building our armies to 750pts. Can't wait to see the next round of quarter finals!

Jesus, that farseer must've...had a bit of a doomslayer rage moment tho XD
*DOOM MUSIC KICKS IN*

You solved the start collecting box issue very well. Good job!
those ork rolls are some of the most insanely lucky i’ve seen haha. purple was thematically perfect
This is what we waaannnnntttt yeahhhhhh thanks midwinter mini team
every single deathmatch vid makes me want to give learning 40k rules another shot and dust of my little orc army. it looks so simple when you know what to do :D
The rolling on this was insane from the Orks wtf LOL
Ayyyyyyyy let’s go, Deathmatch time!!!
Yes mate!
OMG YES YES YES!!!!!!!! these vidoes are the BEST deathmatches on youtube they really helped me get into 40k!!! keep up the great work
This channel, specifically the deathmatch got me into playing/collecting 40k!
Awesome series ! Glad to see it's back. Now i'm waiting eagerly for the next installment
I love the 500-point fighting format. Comment in support of the Deathmatch series on this channel. Greetings from Russia, Guy you are the best.
Glad this is back! ♥
WOOOOO! the deathmatch series is back!
Really glad to see this series back, and I hope you can see this through to the end in the near future.
Keep up the quality content, Guy, I think those orks are looking like a real contender for the final match if not winning the tournament altogether!
Cheers on your victory!
I love this series! I started almost a year ago painting and love it but I can't be bothered to learn to play. This series inspires me to learn!
A wonderful gift. The fight me and my best friend have been waiting 4 years for…
Oh no, it has been a while, eh? Haha
@@MidwinterMinis it took me a second to realize how long haha. Thanks for the Great vid!
Never get tired of that intro music. Makes me wanna WAAAAAGH!
Loved it! Such a close game, with two of my favourite factions. Come on you Orks! Waaaaaghghghgghhhhhh!
It's finally back!
So glad this series is back!!!!!
Very good video. I’m not much for watching battle reports. Most just race through everything and use lots of jargon. You allowed me to actually follow along. Well done.
Really great to see the return of this series!
That rolling is scary.

YAY! A Battle report. Insta favorite
11:40 feels like I'm hitting nothing at all... nothing at all... nothing at all...

Happy to see the next installment of this!
Sooooo good to see this again, love it. Guy, every time you attack with the 'Urty syringe, you have to say: "Hold still and say aaahhh" (for D6 mortal against infantry). 😀
Was packing for a trip and had to take a break to watch this. YOU'RE BACK IN THE ARENA! w00t
My favourite content, I love these battle reports!

Amazing battle report! Usually I leave them in the background an only listen to the jokes because I can not follow the action....but this small games are great and I actually watched and cheered the whole time because I could follow the game.
Guy, you had too many good rolls that you almost should be ashamed :)
Listening to you describe reasons for 500pts games…. basically establishes your status as my spirit animal.
DA BOIS!!! I enjoy your game play videos so much! Please do more!!
Welcome back tooooo DEATHMAAAATCH! *airhorns*
Very cool to see this series continue! But damn those dice rolls were just filthy
those eldar look stunning
john eldar played really well, but guys rolls were just insane. Which is incharacter for ork vs eldar
That was a really top notch game!
Legendary rolling from Guy
When the galaxy needed it most, the -Start Collecting- Combat Patrol(?) Deathmatch returned.
This is a cool series.😊
Those eldar rolls really hurt to see

Where has this series been!? Love it and need more
IT RETURNS!
Gotta love the 2nd Edition boyz just chiming in for some happy little krumping.
I realy loved that videos! The chances are good and i will continue to watch it!
1. Happy this sieres FINALLY continues

2. No they are just pistols. 3. Yes you can shoot vehicle in ER but -1 to hit and no blast weapons.
It's here!!! Its finally here! Praise the emperor!
I love how the arena is just getting messier and messier.
I've never seen an Eldar list *on a table* that had zero Guardians before lol. Back when I played regularly I was a Craftworld player and even playing, I forget which craftworld that gets to take extra rangers I still don't think I ever had less than 10 Guardians per 500 points
love this serie ! Can't wait for the finale in 11th !
Not surprised at the result. Neverthelesss, you guys look like you have more fun playing 40k than I ever normally do (so I happen to understand a lot if someone gives up this hobby)
