I have both of these saws and they are also my favorite sauce I was hesitant at first to purchase a cheap upgrade for the 170 which converts the tough to reach chain tensioning screw to the already existing hole between the two retaining nuts for the guide bar. It also comes with a set of metal dogs that mount right up on the 170 looks very similar to the 250 at this point. They have a still version of this for about 50 to $60 and it's a little fancier with the quick tension or you can get a knock off for 15 bucks that I have had no problems with at all and it actually came with a set of two
I find that the 170 is good for small limbs and I keep that on the wheeler. Also the 170 comes stock with a narrow curved bar. You can upgrade to a size up thicker bar...that way it may not bog as much.... The 170 stock bar seems to easily get pinched when cutting wood too Thanks for watching us!
Those are all great saws for life on the homestead. We’re arborists and own/operate a tree service company so obviously we have a larger arsenal but our favourites for daily use on the job site right now are the 261c and the 462c. They are used all day long. Going to get a 500i this summer I think for the fleet. We love the classics like the 044, 066, the 880. We have a lot of battery products now too! Especially for climbing. Husqvarna has been dominating the battery products so we have a few of those as well as some big husky gas saws. John used to be a logger out west in northern Alberta in the winters and his felling saw was a husqvarna 365. Great video and we share a mutual love for chainsaws 😄
Oh wow that's neat! So you both are very familiar with saws obviously! Well thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed the video... as you know saws are awesome- but extremely dangerous!
Oh thank you so very much!!! Glad you enjoyed it! I will let Jeff know he needs to schedule some tree removal service with you guys! ...lol Thank you for watching!
Yep I'd agree 👍 nice review. Great little saws, I would have to say my 170 is the best $ 299aus I've ever spent on something for what it can actually do.

Thanks for sharing! Where did you get the upgrade?
@Alaskan6pack ordered from Amazon
Nice! Thank you!
I have the 170 and I wish I got the 250. 170 bogs down very easy. Even put a 14in bar on it.

@@Alaskan6packwould you have to upgrade the chain as well with the thicker bar?
I'm not a chainsaw enthusiast, but this was very informative. Thanks for sharing
Yeah thank you!
I don’t use chainsaws but still watched. Looks like you did a good review.
Thank you Debbie! Glad you enjoyed it

Love our saws. 😊Thanks for the nice comment!
Good review. I have 3 saws but not a Stihl. I relly appreciate a good running saw regardless of brand.
Absolutely yes. We agree!
You can buy a kit from Stihl for the 170 to put the chain tensioner on the side about 25$ I did it on mine.
Oh cool. Not too bad on the price too..

They recommend 50:1, I believe from experts 40:1 is not harmful either. What is the logic of 100:1.?
I asked him and he said less smoke in your face...and a snapier saw...so that is his reasoning. Thanks for watching!😊
100:1???
100:1 isn't it 50:1
