  • In 2011, Webster City, Iowa, experienced a massive economic shift after the town’s large appliance manufacturing plant shut down. This left many jobless and impacted local business, including the closing of the town's beloved, historic movie theater. But the community refused to let their town die-and “Made in Iowa” tells the story of how small business helped Webster City save itself.

More than a thumbs up. This town proves it can survive and thrive. Twelve minutes cannot possibly tell the full story of this wonderful town.

First of all, God bless you Jeff Pingel. Former Electrolux workers and the town of Webster City, god bless you all. You brought a tear to an old factory workers eye. Electrolux was home for 22 1/2 years. You should all be proud, I know I am proud of you all. God bless, Kerry Porter

Great story. I was born in Webster City in 1946. Lived there until I was about 10 and my family moved to California. My dad and most of my mom's family were house painters and there wasn't enough work, so we moved out here. I haven't been back since about 1976 and I'm happy to see the town is still going. Keep up the good work and I'm going to try and get back there at least one more time. Maybe in the next year or two. See you then. Dennis Hoffman,

This is the city where we spent twenty-six years of our lives, off and on, ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ, working and raising our family. We arrived in 1979, as natives of Evansdale and Waterloo, IA. Webster City was the place the LORD led us when we were in the earliest part of our ministry days.
Our children grew up in this town. Our families worked at Electrolux. I worked there for a time. My husband and I, while we were pastoring New Hope Church from 1996-2003, cleaned this theater as a third job. At the end of our long stay in this town, we were led by the LORD to relocate to Tulsa, OK, where we've continued our pursuit of God and His will for our lives in ministry here.
What a connection this "brings back", to see this article tonight, as I was just speaking earlier this evening about "these beginning days" in a new adventure I'm stepping into with Christian Television.
We still have friends and loved ones in Webster City. We know the hardships that this little, somewhat isolated town, has faced over the past decade. We also will never forget the wonderful ways in which our lives were changed forever by our experiences with the LORD in this small, rural town.
    Very interesting, indeed!

R3lly Jap3r its about telling a story of a small town that was affected by a big coorperation and the beginnings of the redemption. Its not that hard to see.
