      @hohohohehehe6910 I mean the migrants are just responding to dumb incentives. I would rank my blame as:
      1- the government (our government has insane power compared to other countries, if they wanted to do something short couping the monarch they could do it)
      2- NGOs challenging any change to the system in court
      3- nimbys who are why we have such a shortage of housing that the only option is to pay insane amounts for hotels
      4- the migrants (yes they're responding to incentives but it's still bad what they're doing)

We can’t rely on oil forever and everything has gone up because of oil prices skyrocketing. It’s affecting the cost of living dramatically. Poor logic from Starmer. Is it, by definition, conclusive that if their asylum claim is rejected, they should be returned ‘back to where they came from’ (his words - unclear whether this always means France or their country of origin) - there are more options (or should be) - we may not want them, even if they have a clear reason for leaving their home country - including dodgy political/terrorist affiliations or recent criminal background, which makes them a liability? There may also be other places where they can apply to, and so rejection by UK does not mean they have to go back to country of origin (also, which may be highly dangerous place for them, like Iran, Syria or Palestine).

    • @ynnadanny
      @ynnadanny 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Despite your ideals, migration is a good thing for our country and our economy. If it wasn't for our record migration, we'd probably be in a deep recession as our country is stagnant.
      As a country in the civilised world, we have a legal obligation to take in asylum seekers. This obligation is shared throughout the NATO countries. We had an agreement with France/EU that allowed us to send a percentage of seekers back to France for processing. This agreement was lost because of Brexit.
      So maybe you should focus on why the Tories have allowed LEGAL migration to soar higher than ever before, and maybe ask why the Tories have focussed on headline-grabbers like the Rwanda scheme rather than making negotiations with the EU again?
      This comment section is a mess of hypocrisy and misinformation. Absolute state of politics right now.

    • @nickstibbs1
      @nickstibbs1 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ynnadanny seem to be projecting a bit in your response. Legal migration has been encouraged, because of shortfall from Brexit and some returned during Covid. Brexiteers roughly split into two camps - one was more nativist, xenophobic and anti- most migration streams into the country; the other was more outward looking, globalist (including Atlanticist) and recognised need for migration, take from popualtions across the world, albeit wanted national control of it, rather than continuing with EU arrangement (although there were some migration controls within EU).
      The interesting thing to note, is that any caveat, critique or reservation about migration (eg. undesirability of some demographics) is seen as a rejection of the principle and positive aspects of migration. The two currents/attitudes can co-exist.
      Any global or regional law/arrangement which makes it hard to reject certain people who may be a dangerous influence here, needs to be reviewed and changed. Otherwise it will be exploited using liberal sympathies, and we shoot ourselves in the foot. Truth is, the country is at a turning point in several different ways, and we need to be clear-sighted about what is actually going on, and not hide difficult realities behind generalisations about let's say a majority, when we can both accept that, and keep vigilant about dangerous trends within the broader picture. Having an always benevolent view is not sufficient, and never was, and we need to balance openness with scepticism, and benign intentions with self-interest.
