Just bought your ‘Going Wide’ ebook. Three books and ten years in, and I’m finally going to venture away from Amazon. Been watching you on youtube for a while :) thanks for all the hard work! You’re an indie author saint!
@@1MKWilliams I will leave a good review when done, because oh boy are reviews hard to get! lol At least the natural ones… and if I ever break out I’ll remember to give you a shout out! I keep a small list of the indie voices that contribute to the community :)
Omg i just commented on a 8 month old video asking abt this phew. My follow up is to ask for elaboration/clarification at 3:20 mark about the returnability and discount. Returnability is if a customer buys but is like "eh i dont want it" and tries to return, right? The Discount is about what, just general discounting? If so, could I not *theoretically* set my book for a cheaper amount at first and order them then sell em to brick and mortar? Is the discount specifically a "retailer" discount? I think from my research, much of my *long term* sales will be ebook and audiobook anyways but I would like to have retailers still as an option. Thanks SO much for these videos.
ok wait i rewatched it and you did share *wholesale* specifically. But ig could you clarify what a consignment looks like for wholesaling? I am in talks with a few local bookstores already and would hate for them to be unable to buy because I chose D2D.
I talk about consignment specifically in this video: th-cam.com/video/vcwaNNwWZZY/w-d-xo.html. I also have a whole section on it in my workbook: 1mkwilliams.com/workbook/
FYI for formatting, when I use Scrivener, it exports as an .epub and I can open them up in iBooks, or whatever Apple calls their ereading platform nowadays (it's Apple Books). I iterate a dozen or more versions to get the formatting right, so I have a very clear picture of it opening up the app for me to check. Side bar: when I had to use the .doc or the .pdf for D2D (to get their hyperlinked added page to see other work, which I reeeeally wanted), it was a hassle because I don't have Word, so I was exporting to Word, uploading it to D2D, then when I saw what happened, I had to guess what to do in Scrivener, two steps back. I still don't have a solution for this. :/ But Ingram felt just as frustrating 3 books ago! :P
I started out publishing to KDP just to get started. Last year I started to work with Ingram for that wider distribution. Ingram gave me a headache trying to figure it out. Lol. Something about the formatting or color I never could get right. They kept rejecting the files. I may try again.
I’m struggling getting my books on Ingram. Every attempt has a cover size issue. Drives me so nuts that unlike KDP I can’t see myself and check and have to wait three days to hear they don’t like my cover.
i'm so sorry to hear that. Did they say what about the cover isn't meeting their specifications? Can you go back to your designer and have them reformat it?
What are your thoughts on street libs? Is it better than other platforms for global distribution and are they easier to work with? Also, what does the message Title has never been in production status mean for Ingram Spark? Great video I appreciate all your help!!!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to hear you're going wide. I hope you'll find the book helpful enough to leave a review :)

Lulu also offers printing and shipping services, making it a great option for authors who sell books directly through their own websites.
Yes, Lulu is a great option for direct sales!
another thing for me to consider LOL so many choices
Great comparison video! 👍
Thank you!!
Thank You!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome!

Great video I appreciate all your help!!!
I used StreetLib for a bit but found it wasn't as helpful. I think if I had translations for my works they may have performed better on StreetLib
❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
...aaaand IngramSpark just sent an updated cost structure, aieeeee!
Yup. We'll see if it makes anything easier but I'm guessing costs will have to go up somewhere 🤷♀️
