I paid $1,675 for my SS Submariner with date, 16610, in November of 1989 from the Grafstein & Co. in Santa Ana, CA. They used to run ads in the back of various automotive magazines I read at the time (in college) and they beat most Rolex dealers on price at the time. It has been my daily other than the occasional cheap Casio to wear while traveling or working in my shop on vehicles. It has been an enjoyable constant in my life that I don’t regret purchasing.
Love the show!! One thing used to bother me, but now I enjoy hearing that fulfillment is both "quick and fast". Keep it up Teddy :) Much love from Toronto.
Personally I think that the whole concept of paying OVER retail for anything is crazy. Maybe Rolex just isn't for me, but there is absolutely NO way that I'd pay more than retail just because Rolex isn't able to keep up with customer demand. I won't be playing the game with ADs of 'buy our crap' before finally being allowed the watch that I actually wanted.
I don't understand this anger and resentment at Rolex for not making more watches. They make plenty of watches. You see them everywhere. They're by far the biggest selling swiss watch brand. If Rolex had decided that it's in their long-term interest to keep the brand somewhat exclusive and NOT to flood the market with even MORE watches, I salute them for that.
Makes me beg to question if the models trading at or below retail; would that equate to AD’s be willing to sell without the “coveted list” if they had those models in stock?
My family adopted these in the early nineties my dad used to make us take one out if we went on nights out... Which would really annoy my mom because it meant there was one less phone at home😅... the crazy thing was you could rarely get a signal even if you were stood right underneath the base station (usually at public bus train stations and post offices) it seems their capacity wasn't even up to the 10 or 15 customers they actually had. This was the first example of a 'one update and you're done' technology. The telcos were rolling out early cell phones at the time. So the rabbit phone fell into obscurity very quickly. It was also very expensive. I often think of rabbit as a bit like the 'paging' version of cell phones... God now I feel old.

market price is the average of actual sales, in a recent period of time. So probably lots of people sell at the market price; but there will be some sellers with higher prices and some with lower prices. In fact if a watch is very rare, it's possible that no one sells at the market price. E.g.: If there are just 4 of a given reference sold recently, at prices of $9k, $9.5k, $10.5k and $11k, then the "market price" will be $10k even though no one offered that exact price.

Have you done a top ten worst watches of all time that would be fun to watch
Watch Charts is where it’s at
I think there will be an opportunity to pick up some nice watches in the next couple years at highly discounted prices. The ebb and flow of this market is repeatable. Have always bought Rolex at significant discounts to retail.
I’ve been wearing a black ss Daytona as a daily watch for nearly 20 years
Great watch. I beat the heck out of it and it just keeps ticking
I just picked up my Explorer 40 from my AD and could not be happier. I didn't buy it for investment reasons but I also find it is surprising that a new released Steel Sports model with such history isn´t a bigger success which can be valued by prices on the grey market. Im glad it is still flying under the radar of most as I am not going to sell it for ages. Thanks for the Video Teddy and keep it up!
How long did you wait for it? Which city did you get it from?
@@arindamdas2274 I'm based in Germany and went to my AD in June so pretty much 6 months waiting time but I already purchased a Rolex there before
I was offered an Explorer 40 but I find that it's too disproportionately large, plus I can't get over the tiny caseback that reminds me about the true intended size of the watch.
@@g43654 How long did you wait before getting offered one? Also, did you have any spending history?
As a South African, can I enter the competition?
They need to make 37-39mm models; 36mm is small for most men and 41 too big.
Thank you for throwing in a Rolex vid Teddy!!!
Nothing appeals to me from the current Rolex catalogue… 🤷🏽♂️
I am wit you my friend!
How much the price
Recently bought a Hamilton Khaki 42 from Teddy. It's awesome y'all.
I just inherited my fathers 37 year old DateJust Rolex that still is working after he passed away last year. My father kept the original receipt from 1986. I'm an average 9-5 guy and I wear Apple watches. It would have been his birthday today.
The kink does not allow me to enter???
Rolex and its AD allowed the flippers..
The folk like me that walked into a AD in the Uk 🇬🇧 and were told ,sorry you can’t order one as it’ll be a waste of your time..
As our big buyers will just jump the queue..
Yet I would have kept my Pepsi for ever..
It would never have been sold on for “PROFIT”
