I thought the same thing in the beginning, but have since learned this is traditional type song for certain regions of Russia, not so much middle eastern as I originally thought. Her performances have often been described as 'shamanic', and it makes sense because shamanism is practiced by the tribe where she originated back in far Eastern Russia. There may be other languages but, if so, I haven't heard them. This song was written for her and her unique voice. I love it. You should consider Laura Bretan, she was on AGT back in 2016 and like Angelina placed I believe in 8th place that year. She is a special performer and person who is now 17 years old. She also if one digs deep into her pages acts a little also.

I don’t understand how you couldn’t access her competition videos. I love Diana and in the states I can only listen to her via TH-cam and I watch them all the time.
Definitely unique, pleasant though wierdly so. My grandmother once told me souls communicate through tones not words, so not understanding the words makes us focus on the tones... and Dianas tones evoke a sense of embrace. The same happens with Dimash and other foreign singers.

Thank you! Not many 16 year old singers would even dare to start a song with something that needs that much control and precision. I really, really like that tenderness in her voice in this song. She uses some elements of technique and diction that another Russian singer called Pelageya uses. She only adds a little bit power by the end, when that heavier instrumentation kicks in. Then there is a bit of something that is very similar to yodelling, but still different. Most everyone seems to love her voice...I have listened to about 4 or 5 of her songs and still haven't found one that I really enjoy. She is a talented singer, but probably won't be on my playlist anytime soon....sorry, but we don't all have the same taste in music.

It from 2018, a Gala Concert of the " Song Knows No Limits" Contest and she performs two songs, "Rechenka" and "We were taught to be Birds." Rechenka is arranged a little different but not by much and her second song, I just say something it's a style that you don't see here perform often but it's fantastic as always. I just love her voice ! I feel one must watch her, her stage presence is absolutely amazing. There are two songs she sings in English, one is Human, the other is MAYBE I MAYBE YOU. I love both of these of course though I love everything she sings. She sings a French song DERNIERE DANSE which I feel is amazing, one more English version song is Wicked Games

I know I miss out on so much because I have three I listen to , Angelina, Diana and Laura Bretan and I don't get to hear everything they do because they have several channels they post on. You should consider Laura Bretan, she was on AGT back in 2016 and like Angelina placed I believe in 8th place that year. She is a special performer and person who is now 17 years old. She also if one digs deep into her pages acts a little also.

Definitely unique, pleasant though wierdly so. My grandmother once told me souls communicate through tones not words, so not understanding the words makes us focus on the tones... and Dianas tones evoke a sense of embrace. The same happens with Dimash and other foreign singers.

Thank you! Not many 16 year old singers would even dare to start a song with something that needs that much control and precision. I really, really like that tenderness in her voice in this song. She uses some elements of technique and diction that another Russian singer called Pelageya uses. She only adds a little bit power by the end, when that heavier instrumentation kicks in. Then there is a bit of something that is very similar to yodelling, but still different. That is amazing. She is a gifted singer and very emotions singer as well.
In addition, Russia and Russian sites steal so much protected content. There are entire sites selling newly released mp3 music and American feature films and they all ignore American Copywrite laws. I honestly don't think they bother with blocking this stuff. At least they play "fair".

Most everyone seems to love her voice...I have listened to about 4 or 5 of her songs and still haven't found one that I really enjoy. She is a talented singer, but probably won't be on my playlist anytime soon....sorry, but we don't all have the same taste in music.

Just saw a video of Diana that is new to me and I love it. It from 2018, a Gala Concert of the " Song Knows No Limits" Contest and she performs two songs, "Rechenka" and "We were taught to be Birds." Rechenka is arranged a little different but not by much and her second song, I just say something it's a style that you don't see here perform often but it's fantastic as always.
