First bike; same advice I’d offer to any beginner; training, training, training!
One on one track-day coaching, with a strong emphasis on street survival. Build your street-smarts first. Build your bike handling skills with plenty of seat time on small displacement dirt bikes. Then commit yourself to cementing those survival skills for the next 18-24 months.
Seriously, find a mentor/coach with proven abilities and listen up. The first 2 years on the street will make or break the rest of your riding career.
Building safe practices is actually Fun, so enjoy it!
Tons of torque, tons of power👍 and the best clutch, 1st bike. His other bike must be a hellcat🤣
😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing
actually my daily rider for my ZX14 was a Yamaha SMAX 155cc scooter lol
Wishing magic mike and his family blessings. But it’s nice to see Chris back on the Dyno working his skills.
Respect the bike and you'll be just fine.. My first bike was a 2019 Gen2 Hayabusa, ECU Flashed by Chris Moore
Love the video! If he takes it easy this 1st bike will be a lot of fun!
Someday I’ll get mine tuned. 10 yrs old and still totally stock. Still makes me smile ever time I throw a leg over.
Much love to magic mike and his whole family. God bless
Keep up the good work. Much Respect for The Moore Mafia Family 👍🏽. Will be sending in my ECU.
Moore Mafia Flashed my ECU. It woke up my ZX-14 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
All Smiles Here. My advice to others GET IT DONE.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
My first bike was an 04 yamaha vmax. My advice is just based on personal experience. Respect the power these bikes put down and ride like every vehicle around you is going to try and kill you. Vehicle in front of you? Anticipate they're going to slam on their brakes. Next to you? That they're going to change lanes into you. Waiting to pull out? That they're going to pull out in front of you. Always have a plan of what you're going to do defensively in regard to the vehicles around you and as long as you aren't being reckless, you'll be fine. Riding is dangerous enough because of other vehicles and road conditions, no need to contribute to it.
Aesthetically two pipes looks better than one
can't really see alien head dual from the rear
Always has and always will. On most anything. I've had 3 Zx14s and don't care for the single look.
Literally been waiting for this
I own that exact bike, 2011 ZX14. When they Dyno'd my bike here (Ottawa, Canada) it made about 168hp and 108ft/lbs.
Nice gains. Doing your thing like always
My very first Bike build, and Frankenstein still looking good for a 2011 !
Please never change that intro, it's insane
Like they say Trolls live in the comments, enjoy your Bike and Ride safe! Great job tuning Chris.
Let the haters hate, it’s what they do.
Hey Chris, huge fan of your work and channel. I was wondering if you do ECU flashes for the 2018 Honda CB1000R? I just bought a new full exhaust and aftermarket air filter.
Nice man keep up the good work
Just picked up a 2022 ZX14R. I may have to ride down to SC to get tuned up!!!
My 1st bike for 25 years was a Honda blackbird, after 5 months and 300 miles I went down to a xsr 700, i did 3000 miles in 12 months! like the old school tune.
I had an 06 that put 184 down with a Muzzy 4 into 1 with a PC3 and pump gas. 174 surprised me with all that work.
Nice bike love the Powa. I hit thumbs ups 👍🏻 on all ya comments 👍🏻cuz you Mafia man.
Anxious to see what it’ll do I have a 07 I wanna get done. Mine has a pc & nitrous & 4 into one muzzy which I know nothing about either I’ve had it since 2018
One day I will take my zx14 from Louisiana to get it tuned by this legend!!!
All the best to magic Mike and family.
Man that thing looks good.
"Styles per gallon" Love it. That is a sweet looking 14 with all the red accents and carbon. Well done. Styles and gallons per mile. Holy shit zx14, first bike, advice = fuck IDK I'm praying for you brother
Wishing Magic Mike dad gets well soon.
That is a lot of sweet carbon fiber on that bike.
The zx14 is really something else
I think it was super rich to account for the extra air at the speeds it will be ridden at in the higher gear. Kawasaki claims an extra 10 hp methinks... I hope it isn't to lean in a real world scenario at this speeds now. I enjoy watching your channel! I can't say anything, as my first bike at age 19 was also a ZX-14. Great machines.
I agree. The tune should account for increasing air pressure as the bike’s speed increases.
Kawi’s engineering team knows the math for that whereas the average tuner is not likely to have a handle on fluid dynamics.
I used to think this. However, I have a wideband sensor and gauge on my 2009 ZX14. The stock map is super rich at any speed. There is an air pressure sensor in the airbox the measures airflow and the ecu adjusts.
Even when tuned at 13:1 , the ecu always adjusts.
The worst is the crusing speeds and idle, stock map is 12:1, this is extremely rich (even for wot that is too rich)
Just FYI on why the fueling goes so rich at the top of the RPM band. Kawasaki tuned it this way to keep the factory catalytic converters from getting too hot and destroying themselves. In case anyone was curious. This info specific to the 2008-2011 bikes.
same XD, got my 2nd gen zx14 a little bit after i turned 18
@@MrJayjay0420 Mind me for a small correction: in the airbox there's an air temperature sensor; on the left (#1) throttle body there's an air pressure sensor, for reading air intake air pressure; on the left side under the pillion seat, there's a 2nd air pressure sensor, this one exactly the same part as the latter but for reading atmospheric pressure. Cheers
Yes sir just got my ecu flash for my 2007 zx14 the beast has been unleashed
my 06 is a beast,,,but i am thinking odf a reflash too,,,how long was the turn around to do yours???
@@daryllmroberts7958 10 minutes
Like button smashed 👊🏽
Beautiful bike, Id hang on to it. It will only appreciate in 10 years when big cc bikes will be like big cc 2 strokes.
Prayers up for Magic Mike's pops 🙏🏿
Looks awesome! Certainly not a good 1st choice if no road experience before; ease into it and that power for sure and keep it on two wheels
That was my first bike. It was a great first bike I thought
Nah my 1st bike was a 2008 zx14.. i was so new to riding I didn't know 1st gear was down and I didn't know there was a neutral gear. As long as your good with easing yourself on the throttle you'll have nothing to worry about
Low power mode makes it very manageable til you get use to it
@dsiz9421 low power mode starts on the gen 2 model, if you have gen 1 it's just you and the bike buddy.
When tuning something with rider modes does tuning change those as well?
Technically Gen 1s did not have the "R", that was when they went to the larger motors in 2012. Good vid though and nice to see some oldies but goodies.
First bike cost? 2011 8k mileage sounds like a sweet deal.
I love it im like this guy my first bike im looking at a gixxer 750 or 1000
Been ridding since age 9 respect the power can these bikes get cammed to get mor Torque and HP ? Have an 08 special addition with voodoo slop on
ZX14R as his first bike? NUTS!
Interesting. My zx14r just doesn’t have enough power. Its slow and I have trouble passing cars and merging onto freeway is downright scary due to lack of power. I think this might help.
Hey Chris do you have the sprint filter in stock for gen1 zx14? I'm trying to get my ducks in a row before I bring my bike down to get dynoed
170 baseline
201 finished
I have a 20 ZX-14R, coming off of a Suzuki 600. It was like going from owning a Chitzu to owning a Presa Canario on steroids.
Hi Chris
Can you do a video on a gen 1 fjr1300 yamaha looking for more power for mine
Nice bike. Carbon is badass.
on my 2nd zx14,,1st was an 08,,,sold for a camaro SS,,,then found me a mint red 06 zx14,has muzzy slipons,,13k miles,,,i really want to do the ecu re-flash,,clean it up-exactly what he just did,,its either moore or schnitz,,not sure who to choose
Big for a 1st bike, saying that it’s only as powerful as your right hand allows.
Safe riding out there boys.
Just FYI on why the fueling goes so rich at the top of the RPM band. Kawasaki tuned it this way to keep the factory catalytic converters from getting too hot and destroying themselves. In case anyone was curious. This info specific to the 2008-2011 bikes.
too rich is always better than too lean
Prayers for Magic Mike and his dad!!
First bike take it steady son 👍
As a first bike that is just ridiculous. I feel sorry for the guy. He isn't long for this world. How he can get insured on it is beyond me.
Hey Chris what’s your website to order merch and the address to send you my ex’s for a max flash?
What great bike just for us bigger boys good suff
The R was the gen2 , unless I'm mistaken
@MagicMike 🙏🙏 prayers sent
Do these have restrictions or is this just air fuel tuning.
Any videos with only a slip on and tune on a gen 2 zx14r
Not to be picky but its not an "R". ZX14R started in 2012. Ive had 4 of em. Fantastic bikes
I Started out with a 2005 R1 for my first bike lol 😆 😅 😂. Boy was I an overachiever lol
Wow I didn't realize how much nicer looking gen 1 zx14s are over the Gen 2. I really love the looks on this bike
i think so too,,,i could have bought a gen 2,,,but love a red gen 1,,,so i bought it---paid 6700,,,but its what i wanted,,--moore or schnitz for a re-flash??? researching now
I had an 07 white w the limited flames piece of crap design frame over motor try changing plugs or smog blok off plates
Take it easy boy.
Awesome
As someone who's owned a few of them be easy on that front brake it stops way faster than most people think.
Compared to a zx10 those brakes feel like wood covered in oil lol!
Who doesn't had their tragic front brake experience. In over 100k mi of riding, I've had more than 1!
@@Stevo299 haha. funny , 14s have excellent brakes
You have low standards, don’t pass that onto others Jewmanji….
@Thomas B No doubt. It's a tank of a bike, but to call those brakes good one must have very low standards of what "good" means.
Hey Chris, can you send that baby down here ? I love it.
Question: Why do these run so rich from the factory? The chap who did my ECU left it running a little rich (not as lean as this) at the cost of a tiny power gain. He didn't say why & I forgot to ask... will the pistons / cylinders benefit from the extra lubrication of it running richer than usual? I can't think of any other reason, besides "spitting flames on the overrun" looks cool as f***, but i'm not sure Kawi had that in mind. Or did they?
18 y/o and got my 2nd gen zx14r as my second bike but only had my 89' cbr600 for two months then i sold it. ( ive been riding dirtbikes since i was 6 y/o)
I have that same bike. I need to get it to you
🙏Prayers 4 Magic Mike’s Papi 🙏
Chris you know that's such a coincidence because I got a 2011 zx too and it my first bike too😅
Hope someone brings in a 2007 Suzuki SV1000S. Like to see that tune.
Best advice I can give on a ZX-14 as your first bike is.. Don't crash 👍
The guy should be just fine, as long as he respects the bike. I have an '07 zx14 as my second bike, and ive done pretty well so far.
How much did you ride before the ZX-14?
@@mustafashulqamy1844 roughly 6 months. But, I also have a history of driving manual transmission sports cars, and other high power cars. I came to motorcycles with healthy respect for powerful vehicles.
Curious what a dual exhaust Brocks full system would do for this ZX14!
Make it louder
You da man.
How much would it cost to do my 09 zx14?
How much to tune?
My firts gen 2006 and know are 2012 2 gen
His first bike,I’ll be waiting on parts..
Seriously😂 what a shitty choice
First bike ever? No MSF course either? May end up totaled out this summer.
I’ll buy it
Did you take the cats out of the exhaust pipes. 06-07 had cats in mufflers. 08-11 added cats in the pipes
Slip-ons have no cats
Can you run the Gen 1 with a 4-1 exhaust instead of the 4-2? I tried a delkevic 4-1 system and lost half my power. Is this down to delkevic or is it because the gen 1's need to stay with the 4-2 system? Struggling to find a system in the UK :( *sobs*
Man , get a full brock system 4-2-1.. that's what I have . Delvak is garbage.
First bike a zx14🙄🤔, ride safe brother!!
Let's go Branden
People really be getting bike like this as their first bike😮💨 one free ticket 🎟 to heaven. Hopefully it takes it easy..
Should of gotten an MR12 tune to top it off
Do a KTM 1290 gen 3 ✊ let’s do it… cheers!
I always imagine these big beasts making more hp than this compared to the litre bikes you dyno. As you pointed out though, this thing blows the 1000's out of the water torque wise though, nice bike! As always, awesome content Chris!
His exhaust is holding him back .
@@Popsm0ke Uhhhhh, I beg to differ. Brock Davidson doesn't produce junk.
@@dg8062 his header is stock. I have a full brock system and my bike made 187 on pump and 191 on pumpe85. I have the alien head muffler now and it should make more now
@@dg8062 .....listen to the video. The head pipe is stock, I never said anything about Brocks. That's whose exhaust is on my bike
@@dg8062 take it easy home. Dude said nothing about brocks 😆 geez
I prefer 4into 1 exhaust
Has the converter ben removed from the head pipes? If not there's meat still left on the bone.
I have a 2010 model and would love to know more about what you mentioned about the headers.
@@phil100kilo .....my 06 made in the 186-187hp range with just a full Brocks gen3. Now I have a Brocks alienhead that is good for more power and zx10 wheels on it. The wheels are a good bit lighter and should show more hp as well. We will find out soon as I'm taking my bike down to Chris very soon.
@@phil100kilo ......look up Brocks Performance complete zx14 diary.....it takes you from stock to a bolt on monster. ....the bike that was dynoed on this video was not a great representation of the power a gen1 zx14 can produce. Not bagging on his bike, to each his own but I would have put my money on a full Brocks exhaust and bought carbonfiber later. Check out that zx14 diary and you will then have a lot of knowledge at your disposal.
@@Popsm0ke so getting a full exhaust will bring more HP than the flash itself? So
I guess get full exhaust then flash?
@@marknkatherine .....yes it will. With a brocks on the gen1 you'll pick up around 10 hp , it'll come with map support if you have a power commander . As far as ecu flash you can send it yo get flashed by Chris .Now that won't be as good as a dynotune .
For a first bike, Just don't forget. If you don't give that bike no respect, It's definitely not going to give you any.
My 05 gsxr 600 has 7500 miles
164 base 193 tune
170 baseball
Base line 155
Sir, I have a 2013 ZX14R and my advice is to go slow. Build your skill set. Buy crash bars now. OEM flairs for one side is just under a grand. Engine covers are 200 plus. They're cheap insurance.
Have a blast on it, but don't kid yourself. The bike is more than mere mortals can control.
Ride safe, Ride smart.
Oké? What is the Fuel ratio after the tuning??
