Gregor, you are just like our family friend, whom we meet everyday. Love from India. Your videos are so lively. it almost seems like you are just sitting in front of me, Thank you, thank you and thanknyou, both you and Presonus ROCKS,
I really do love Studio One, and I recently updated to 7. But there is a Midi Clock issue and none of my gear will sync . Plus there is no way to Slave S1 to external midi clock (only MTC - which none of my gear has) . I bring this up so there is hopefully an update one day that allows us to slave S1 to Midi Clock. On the midi clock sync issue, I reached out to Presonus tech and they said it is a known issue with no known time frame of a fix... -Super frustrating.

One question : what about the TRANSMIT VALUE option ? I use a X-TOUCH MINI from Behringer already setup as a control surface. It works but one things does not work : the TRANSMIT VALUE that i have checked for my knobs inside the Studio One Midi Learn part . The X-TOUCH MINI knobs have leds around indicating the value. When i turn the controller knob the corresponding Mai Tai knob turns, but when i turn the Mai Tai knob, the physical knob value is not set and the leds don't move or move strangely sometimes. I have set the Receive From and Send To parameters to the X-TOUCH MINI in the external devices setup.

How do I assign midi controller rewind and forward hold in and let go buttons? I only find on off rewind and forward. I can't find enable loop on off also.
I think hardware ccs are still poorly integrated or are still a mystery to me on how to get it to work with my plugins. I have a knob controller that sends fixed ccs but I still have to do the whole 3 step process of assigning it for each instance of the instrument, rather than the instrument automatically reading the cc and sending it to the appropriate parameter.
You probably set up the knob controller device as a "Control Surface" in Studio One. You should change it to be a "Keyboard". The main (only?) difference between Keyboard and Control Surface is that Control Surfaces can't be assigned as track or instrument inputs, and hence there's no way to send MIDI from the Control Surface directly to the instrument. You can only send the MIDI to Studio One itself, which you can associate with automation parameters and so on. If you set it up as as Keyboard, you can send the MIDI data directly to the VST. You have to make sure NOT to do the Studio One "MIDI Learn" step for those knobs in that case, or else Studio One will intercept the data and not send it to the instrument. The minor downside to working this way is that MIDI data is just MIDI data, not automation, and so some thing you're used to working with in Studio One will be different. For instance, I don't believe you can have an "Envelope" for MIDI CCs that you can expand under the track in the arrange view, like you can with automation data. You have to edit the CC data in the MIDI editor, in the same area that you can control note Velocity etc.

Hi Gregor, new to Studio 1 and learning, thanks for all you do. Can I ask why Studio1 has no 'native support' (default instrument selection) for any ROLAND products? I know I can connect the keyboard directly to the PC, but I want to use the interface. Is it possible to use a midi receiver adaptor in the PreSonus Audiobox?
So what I am saying is that there is a lot of issues with USB drivers as well as Midi ports that are now dated. The new ways is Bluetooth connectivity.

I am seeing many walk-through videos on how to set it all up within PreSonus Studio Artist (using 4 currently), but it's still not clear to me how to plug in the cables.
You got it 100% right! Connect the MIDI cable from the Midi Out port of your keyboard / pad controller into the Midi In port of your Audiobox 96. Then add a new keyboard device in Studio One's "External Devices" preferences, and set the "Receive from" box to "Audiobox 96". -GBY

Hi Eric, that means the MIDI ports aren't reported by the Steinberg UR22. Have you installed the Steinberg driver software? If you're on MacOS, have you opened up the Audio Midi Setup (in Utilities) to confirm that the UR22 MIDI ports are listed there? -GBY
@@presonus thank you and yes, they are both active in MIDI settings on the Mac using USB. The interface can send and receive MIDI through the five pin connectors with other keyboards. And the Krome can also control and be controlled by other midi instruments. I'm wondering if either the USB port is bad, although again it does show up in MIDI settings, or perhaps more likely that I am misconfiguring something in Studio One!
Hello, I hope someone can help, I want to set up my midi keyboard for live stuff with Studio one "show" is there a way to divide the keys layout so that I can play a bass vst say on the 1st octave of the keys and pads or lead on the other 2 octaves? having a hard time figuring out how get my zoom l8 to integrate with studio5.. like i get inputs and outputs.. but I cannot get the mixer to control anything in the software
Seems a lot of extra steps to me. I tried to get my Korg NanaKontrol Studio to work, but no luck. I checked Logic and Cubase to see if the drivers were installed correctly an these DAWS find the controller immediately and ready to use. Why is this not possible in SO?
KORG decided to supply native control maps for these DAWs, but unfortunately not for Studio One. This isn’t a real disadvantage though, because it also gives you the ability to customize controls much more freely in Studio One - Meaning, you get decide what button does what exactly. -GBY
Hi! I plugged in my keyboard in Both midi out and midi in connected to USB tru Computer. I did setup my midi and can't play a chord. is there a way to to fix this? I'm using studio one 4
Hi ZeeCH, do you have your keyboard set as MIDI Input on the track? Do you have monitoring enabled on the track (speaker symbol on the track must be lid in blue)? Also, where is the sound supposed to be coming from. If it's supposed to come directly out of the keyboard you're playing, you need to make sure that you also connect its audio outputs to your audio interface / mixer, just connecting MIDI won't be enough then. Please refer to part II of this tutorial for more info: th-cam.com/video/JfdUtczw4rI/w-d-xo.html -GBY
@@presonus Hi, yes it was set as keyboard/midi input and monitoring enabled so I can hear the vst instrument played.. the sound should be coming from sample and it does work. however, I just want to register the keypress of a pianist..like chords I can't seem to play 2 notes or more at the same time.. and some notes are even stucked as midi.

Hi Existe, that video will be released on Thursday. :) I'll add the link then. We have decided to post this video here a bit earlier than planned - sorry for the confusion!
As always Gregor delivers the info you need to know for Studio One. Not a big midi guy (guitar player) but wanted to experiment some with it on studio one ver 6.02. Needed help in picking the right midi controller to buy that will work with Studio One. Figured Gregor would be the person to find a video from on it. Now I know thanks to Gregor, that some brands and models are preset already, or you can go through the manual process. He's their real go to guy to get help with Studio One. If your new to Studio One, make sure to watch any video by Gregor. Thanks again Gregor.
Gregor can you tell them to STOP the "feature" of turning on autoscroll automatically when zooming in, it's driving me mad! And it only does it after I hit play. Annoying!
Still waiting for a volume knob on the tracks , tape stop effect, track icons etc . This shouldn’t be hard for them to do , and I’ve read other people have been requesting these items for along time.
Hi Plastidon, Tape Stop effects are possible in version 5, and super fun. Check out our brand new Timestretch mode "Tape", which is our first algorithm that doesn't link tempo and pitch. We discussed Track icons, but figured that they would clutter the interface too much. Having track notes instead seemed a lot more useful. Finally, volume control on the tracks is already a thing since ages in Studio One. See screenshot: www.dropbox.com/s/8g2gjognvv13aj9/Screenshot%202020-07-07%2023.43.03.png?dl=0 -GBY
Yes I did see that volume fader , I personally like a volume knob. Is there a video anywhere showing this new time stretch feature? I’m very new to S1 so still trying to figure things out . Another thing , there’s a feature in reaper called parent tracks , how do you emulate this in s5. Thank you so much for replying
PreSonus Audio Electronics , studio one instruments vol 1&2. And some other items are failing to install , I have tried many times , is the website having issues ?
Wanted to mention that if you look at logics track area , and in general, it’s one of the cleanest looking, and it does have a volume knob and icons , it’s not cluttered. Also reaper does what I which every daw would do , any track can be anything, you just click and make whatever,. And you can customize everything , if you want knobs or faders , sizes can be from tiny to huge . And it doesn’t look cluttered. What is nice about S1 is it has a bit of each daw , but some little things like that would be a great addition.
LG
Ummm you showed me the cords but then you didn’t tell me which ones to USE 🤷♂️ in my case I have a presonus/ Audiobox USB I also have the five pin two prong midi cable (you showed) cable with the USB on the other end. I also have a Donner Starry 25 midi keyboard,😢 I cannot create sound out of it and it has the option of a regular square mini USB plugging directly into the computer with a flat regular USB, which you mentioned is the most common BUT confusing matters more it also has the option of a round midi out (which I would think I would use to plug into the pre-Sonus audio box MIDI IN …but I don’t know how to do all of that you didn’t tell me which one the cords to plug in where? As if I used my double round MIDI/flat usb I plug-into my keyboard and then plugged it into the MIDI IN on the presonus…but what goes out?? It ALSO has the square usb on the back which I plugged into my computer but there’s STILL NO sound speaker 🔈 nothing!! 🔈 what’s worse is that I can SEE it’s recording (by the lines on the tracks on the studio one interface) so it’s super frustrating and then, when it asks me about adding devices an external instrument, I don’t know what to select to go from to which to where because I don’t know which cords I’m using .. also the back of the presonus has a round MIDI out port but it doesn’t have a corresponding cord?! 🤷♂️ I’m I not supposed to use the midi OUT or the MIDI in ?! Please 🙏 help!!
th-cam.com/video/EmKPPRDwMjI/w-d-xo.html - please view the following link at the 6:15 mark. This allows you to play the sounds up and down the octave. In Studio One in order to achieve this, you have to load a separate sample one instrument for sounds that you want to play up and down the octave. DEFINITE FEATURE REQUEST....
You have made one big mistake :D You didnt mention about FOCUS and GLOBAL option ;) Its good to know that you can use only ATOM ( or other midi controler ) to control 4 parameters ( or more ) of as many vsts as you got dependes which vst is selected
Incredible NOT EASY when you want to send AND receive to a keyboard and this has the following reason: For every external instrument there must be two things created in External Devices. One is a keyboard (icon is keyboard) and RECEIVE FROM is only set here, from the device. SEND TO is set to NONE This allows midi data to get from the device into Studio One. The second thing is an Instrument (icon is slider with two little knobs on it) Here SEND TO is set to the instrument and RECEIVE FROM is set to NONE This allows midi data to be sent from Studio One to the external instrument for playback etc.. Very disappointing that presonus did not fix this in all those years. At least they could have disabled send to for a keyboard so you don't get confused !!
I have a HARD time understanding anything with you.... btw, you did NOT show how to do the connection. I am getting more disappointed with Studio One, the company. Their support is very "thin." They rely too much on their "community" and it is almost impossible to get an answer to a question, even when you go through the long and complicated process of opening a "ticket." (I am still waiting the answer to one of my questions....). This guy is supposed to be the OFFICIAL voice on technical issues of the company... and he does not do a good job. He rushes through things like you should already know many aspects of STO. So, I am thinking of switching to Ableton... very popular with many keyboard manufacturers. I checked it out and I see why.
I have a very old keyboard (korg x3) some buttons are not working anymore. It does have a midi port. Can I somehow control it through my computer, like selecting sound? If so, how? Thank you very much.
Hi Gregor, I tried to map my endless encoders of LOUPEDECK CT live to studio one. But the knob values are jumping when i switch between plugins focus modes. Is there any option to use endless knobs for incremental increase and decrease in values.

Hello Gregor. My Steinberg UR22 interface (that I am recording through) doesn't appear in the receive from or send to drop downs. What to do? Thanks!
I'm wondering if either the USB port is bad, although again it does show up in MIDI settings, or perhaps more likely that I am misconfiguring something in Studio One!
thanks for your help
Hello, I hope someone can help, I want to set up my midi keyboard for live stuff with Studio one "show" is there a way to divide the keys layout so that I can play a bass vst say on the 1st octave of the keys and pads or lead on the other 2 octaves? I know something similar is possible in logic mainstage, but can not find anything on Studio one"show"
Has anybody had luck with the Fantom 8. No matter what i do it doesn't register.
Por favor agregar a la lista de agregar nuevo dispositivo el controlador keystation49es de M-audio.
HI, How to control multiple parameter with the same cc?
Hi Marc, you can use Macro Controls for this: th-cam.com/video/jhStVHIU1k0/w-d-xo.html

@@presonus thanks u!
I am really struggling to get my Arturia Keylab 49 working with Studio One. Does someone know how it works? I connected it with Mackie Control DAW IN and DAW out and I can turn the knobs and faders. But unfortunately, the keyboard keys don't work (no MIDI-IN as well).
Hi Mister Who, try setting up another "New Keyboard" device for your Arturia Keylab 49. Assign the "Receive From" with your Arturia Keylab MIDI input. That should be all there's to it really! -GBY
@@presonus thankks!
having a hard time figuring out how get my zoom l8 to integrate with studio5..
like i get inputs and outputs.. but I cannot get the mixer to control anything in the software
Hi Edward, this is a MIDI tutorial. This is probably more helpful to set up your zoom l8: th-cam.com/video/wt0ndsyM5Vk/w-d-xo.html

How to add my yamaha dtx multipad?
Seems a lot of extra steps to me. I tried to get my Korg NanaKontrol Studio to work, but no luck. I checked Logic and Cubase to see if the drivers were installed correctly an these DAWS find the controller immediately and ready to use. Why is this not possible in SO?
KORG decided to supply native control maps for these DAWs, but unfortunately not for Studio One. This isn’t a real disadvantage though, because it also gives you the ability to customize controls much more freely in Studio One - Meaning, you get decide what button does what exactly. -GBY
Im having issue where my external devices will play but not record..

Thanks a lot ! You guys should keep uploading videos for begginers. Please you have to do more tutorials of S1
👌💯😉
More to come!
Please refer to part II of this tutorial for more info: th-cam.com/video/JfdUtczw4rI/w-d-xo.html

Danke!
Hello, I just installed Studio One 5 Prime and try to connect the Midi Keyboard Roland A300Pro (connected via USB B-A). Unfortunately without success. The selection list "Receive from" (in the video at 1:54) is empty! Can someone help me, please! Thanks!
-GBY
@@presonus oh, das war ein Anfängerfehler! Danke für den schnellen Support! Funktioniert! :)
I couldn't find the link for how to set up instrument?
Hi Existe, that video will be released on Thursday. :) I'll add the link then. We have decided to post this video here a bit earlier than planned - sorry for the confusion!
Thank you for your knowledge
As always Gregor delivers the info you need to know for Studio One. Not a big midi guy (guitar player) but wanted to experiment some with it on studio one ver 6.02. Needed help in picking the right midi controller to buy that will work with Studio One. Figured Gregor would be the person to find a video from on it. Now I know thanks to Gregor, that some brands and models are preset already, or you can go through the manual process. He's their real go to guy to get help with Studio One. If your new to Studio One, make sure to watch any video by Gregor. Thanks again Gregor.
Roland audix24 and oxygen 8 through it do not work on windows
Hello, can we find this in french please ?
Wait was that a new presonus keyboard at 3:30?

Gregor can you tell them to STOP the "feature" of turning on autoscroll automatically when zooming in, it's driving me mad! And it only does it after I hit play. Annoying!
Hi Ryan, press "f" and your issue is solved. ;) -GBY
@@presonus Sorry I mean, when autoscroll is off, it turns on by itself. Thanks for replying!
Thank you!🙏🏽
With pleasure! Hope it helped. :) -GBY
I haven’t been able to download yet , is the website still down ?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Does anyone know "why" you'd use global and "why" you'd use focus? I know it's basic but...no-one told me
Focus mode (yellow) means that the parameter link is only working as long as the editor window is open and in front. -GBY
@@presonus Thank you
LG
Oh that’s what I was missing.
Please 🙏 help!!
any chance you solved this problem? I have been trying for weeks to solve this and still no sound.
th-cam.com/video/EmKPPRDwMjI/w-d-xo.html - please view the following link at the 6:15 mark.
This does not work for me
I LOVE YOU BRO BUT GO ABIT SLOWER YOUR VIDS ARE GREAT!!! But plz slow down Mr. Gregor, However...Thank you for this tut/Vid!
Pleeease replace that sick bad weird intro tune, best instructions though
Incredible NOT EASY when you want to send AND receive to a keyboard and this has the following reason:
For every external instrument there must be two things created in External Devices.
NO SOUND 😭
clickbait
not good
I have a HARD time understanding anything with you.... btw, you did NOT show how to do the connection. I checked it out and I see why.
no a bloody clue, you went so bloody fast i have no idea what the hell you're talking about. i'll go someone else.
Can't they find someone more proficient in English?
I can't understand this guy.
