- Double whammy for the bad weather today.
What started off with a heat advisory with heat index up to near 100 degrees concluded with a blast of a severe thunderstorm that put up a decent light show and strong winds.
Tonight's storm caused some minor floods, downed some limbs and toppled powerlines just two blocks away from my residence (Loudlabs News NYC):

The nasty week is not expected to end, as the hot temperature is forecasted to soar to the upper 90's with heat index exceeding 100's for the weekend to come.
Without thunderstorm in this world ,
this world would be as boring as the taste of a swanky beer .

Thank you for showing us the sky and not being one of those asshole TH-camrs who put “severe thunderstorms” in their key words, but are only shooting video of their weather radios. Those guys piss me the hell off!

That was one mean cluster of thunderstorms. One of the most legit in a long time in NYC.

The National Weather Service in New York City has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for: Brooklyn in South-eastern New York. Hudson County in Northeastern New Jersey. Richmond County in South-eastern New York. Untill 8:45 pm. At 7:20 pm. Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. This severe thunderstorm will be near: New York City around 8:45 pm. Richmond Hill around 8:50 pm. Hudson around 8:55 pm. Brooklyn around 9:00 pm. Severe thunderstorms produced damaging winds, destructive hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain. For your protection. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. Heavy rains flooded roads quickly so do not drive into areas. Where the water covers the road. Torrential rainfall is also occuring with this storm. And may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Repeating: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 8:45 pm to the following New York and New Jersey counties: Richmond Hill, Hudson, New York City and Brooklyn.

i want to see some big storms again in the UK :/ we haven't seen alot in the east recently
here in UK we got the same problem yesterday all UK was in thunderstorms because of the heatwave we going through its horrible i don't like the thunderstorms I'm super scared mainly if it is really close and powerfull and at night somewhere close to me lighting did strike and cars alarm went on this is very bad and we wouldn't need to go through this if we would take care of our planet so sad :(
I'm out here enjoying every second of those storms, especially when lightning strikes close

I'm hoping for another just like it tomorrow. I think the SPC should have us under Slight Risk in NYC. Similar chance as it was when Remnants of Barry were coming in that day - when looking at all the different atmospheric factors. Potentially similar CAPE values.
I feel sorry for your neighbors across the street, living with window-mount air conditioners. 2019 in a 1st World country... central heat & air should be a given! 🤦♂️
Actually it's pretty common for the 1950's era buildings in this neighborhood to lack a central HVAC. It's more common in the modern houses and newer apartments.
