It's going to be really interesting to see how those beans do in the pots on the steps. Grow little beans grow 🌱
Seeing how many you planted in each pot, I need to sow a few more :-)
good luck with your beans erica
Thank you.
Always bush beans here, they are so good. :)
Oh, brilliant.
You are a very infectious gardener mainly as you are not 'programmed' but enjoy yourself. Even having muddy paws!! My runner beans are planted in a small pot by my housekeeper's grand daughter who always does too many. So I gain and just 'up pot' them. No one knows what they are as the seeds are re-used year upon year. Bit like an 'Enorma' but snap beautifully. All good fun!
Glad you liked the video.
Nice one Erica. I get my best runner beans from growing in containers. So much easier (and I like easy! LOL)
Easy is best after all! 😂
patio area looking great love them black pots to !! look forward to the harvest 👍👍👍👍👍
You'll get a full tour soon as I've got a project going on up here.
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden ohh fantastic i recently seen the video where you jet washed it all and painted it i think that was a while ago but still good to see :]
Wonderful stuff Erica, For some reasonI assumed it was too late to sow these, happy days! hope you're keeping well, thanks for sharing
Painted Lady runners at the 'lottie, plus some that have come back for the third year running, probably Scarlet Emperor. Blue Lake & Kentucky Wonder pole beans too, plus some dwarf French beans whose name I can't remember! Gigantes from saved seed going in next...
Sounds like you've got loads glowing! Great
Good video Erica I sow beans right through til August (bush variety) and had harvests albeit small right up until the end of October. Have a great week, happy gardening, Ali 🌞🇨🇦
That's such a good idea.
This Auntie is pretty
Thanks for watching.
Interesting video. New for me I purchased Cherokee trail of tears climbing french bean from Real Seeds. I also planted fasold climbing french bean which I have grown for many years as they taste lovely, excellent croppers and long lasting in the freezer. Both grown in modules and then planted on the allotment. Both are looking good but have been given plenty of water in this warm weather.
Sounds great.
I direct sow in containers, then I place the pot in a raised bed. That way my chaos is contained somewhat. Things grow well.
Oh, great idea.
Growing: Borlotto, KY wonder pole, wax going now. Soon Momentum bush, royal purple bush, contender bush. Hoping for a second round of borlotto.
Ohh lovely. 😍
Hi Erica, my first lot of beans were wiped out by bad weather so I have some more growing in modules. That said I think I will follow you next season and sow direct.
I will also direct sow some in containers tomorrow.
Good video, good luck 👍
Hope you so OK with the direct sown ones! 😊
I'm growing Bunyards exhibition broadbeans, field beans, borloti beans, runner beans dwarf french beans & coco d paimpolxx
Wow! A great selection then!
I am trying yard long beans ,since they are heat resistant . I have kentucky wonders growing . I just plant in the hukelkultur and garden trellis.
Oh, sounds lovely. Hope they do well.
I pre sow my beans in large modules and plant out at the end of May, they are doing really well, I couldn’t direct sow in my raised beds as I’m surrounded by fields so the mice eat my bean seeds, however I have Courgettes , Blueberries, tomatoes & peppers in large pots oh and Strawberries all doing well in spite of the drought and hosepipe ban here in Cornwall but it takes me two hours to water them all. So I couldn’t possible add beans to the list, I hope to see you get a great harvest though and will be interested to see how they all turn out especially when they flower.
Yeah I don't think I could direct sow in my woodland!
Hi Erica I grow red rum and scarlet emperor for green runner beans. Zsar which is a runner and a dry white bean and they cook like butter bean delish. I also grow barlotti and red kidney beans. Black runner beans also dry well not only for seed but you can eat them as a dry bean too. I grow a purple and a yellow dwarf climbing bean too and a few others I got from gardeners world show that I hadn’t heard of so interested to see how they turn out👍🙋🏻oh just to say I grow seeds in pots then plant out I do grow extra in case they get eaten. But I let the plants get quite big b4 planting as they fair better against the slugs that way. 👍🙋🏻
I love love love butter beans! Must frow some next year.
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden Try out Spagno Bianco and Green Gigantes runner beans, they grow so well and make huge beans to dry.
Firstly love your videos, I've got self pollinating runner beans this year to try, I'm sure they are called moonlight and have white flowers, if nothing else they will be pretty 😊
Ohh sounds lovely! Thanks for watching.
If anybody hasn’t heard of this slug trap, placing two small terracotta pots upside down on top of one another and soak the inner one and placing them in a shady spot. Hopefully when you lift the outer pot, you should find them all nestling around the inner pot.
Must try this.
Really enjoyed this one.
I usually module sow mine, and did a load earlier in the year but they only really started putting on growth these last 3weeks think it was too wet earlier in year.
But I also added some extra ones as found thr type I did last year that was lovely, they a purple French been, think they called cerel or something but lovely purple pods so I can see with all the green leaves, I struggle seeing like pea pods lol and miss em. Anyway when I went to sow them I put them in the root trainers for a change to see what would happen, and omg so much better.will try to remember to do it next year with all of them so long as there’s nothing else in them.
I grown them in amongst my fruit trees that are in massive tubs-no idea on the size lol but they huge- they called boulders buckets and got them in the range a few years ago, they have 2 handles for carrying but once full you don’t move em if you can help it. The thong thing I have a similar size too is a 20gallon grow bag. So that’s the similar size but not a deep but maybe 3-4 inches. Just drilled some holes in the bottom for drainage.
They great for rhubarb!!!! And the cherry tree is doing well in there this 2 years. The apple pear plum and figs I got earlier this year 2nd hand seem very happy I’m them too. Hoping they continue to do well.
Sounds like you've got a good system! Thanks for watching. 😊
I’ve gone back to planting in pots. Last year in the raised bed the seeds simply vanished. Hopefully the creatures won’t find them.
Soul destroying when thay happens
nice pots i need to start looking around for some ,im going big on beans this year and already fighting for space lol ive got bluelake, greek gigantes some black ones i cnt rem the name of lol some yellow beans again no name the packs are in the polly lol and runners called enorma and maybe some more lol
Yeah, get some more. Sometimes you see second hand ones going.

Oh ye id not buy new they re too pricey I'll keep an eye out in my local dougie Mac
I start all my beans in deep cells or pots right in the garden. I put a wire cage I made out of fine fencing, over them all to keep mice out. Then I transplant out. I tried Cobra climbing beans and also Borlotti climbing beans this year and was disappointed! My Spagno Bianco and Greek Gigantes grew well. For bush / French beans I tried Hidalgo-they were short but prolific, Yin Yang- very disappointing, Modesto-disappointing too. I like trying new ones out and will give some another try the following year but hope to narrow it down to a few really reliable ones. I'd like to try those red kidney bean ones you mentioned and the District Nurse beans look just like what I want, can you tell me what companies you got them from?
It’s only the 12th of June Erica. Lol
I know! 😂
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden your so busy you don’t know what day it is. Lol
🌈💚🍀
how many litres are your pots please
The big ones are probably 50 and the smaller ones are probably 3.
@@ericaslittlewelshgarden thank you ☺️
